Bespoke kitchens in Peckham

Made-to-measure kitchens or ready-made?

A bespoke kitchen takes more planning than picking units from a range. In return, the storage, layout and finish are designed for you. Standard widths and heights seldom suit an actual room, so it leaves gaps at the ends and empty space above. Built-in pieces fill the space they’re made for.

Rooms that aren’t square take more work: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. That is reflected in the quote, which we write after seeing the room.

Why us?

  • A spray or hand-painted finish
  • Every London borough and the City of London covered
  • Fitted tight to walls that aren’t straight
  • Saturday visits and fitting by prior arrangement

Take a look at how bespoke compares with ready-made and how to compare quotes.

How we make bespoke kitchens for Peckham

Islands work well in kitchens with room to walk around them. We check there is comfortable space on every side, because a cramped island makes a kitchen harder to work in. Where space is tight, a peninsula or a longer run may suit better. Typical reasons to get in touch are extra cupboard space and a kitchen island with room around it, and the answer is built in our workshop from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.

Across London, neighbouring streets can be decades apart in age, and kitchens can be anything from a narrow galley to an open-plan room. Cabinets are designed for the room you have. Each wall is checked so the fixings suit it.

Our quotes are written in plain words, without jargon. They say what will be made, what it is made from and how it will be finished.

How fitting works for bespoke kitchens

With the carcasses fixed and level, we hang any doors and fit any drawers or lids. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly, then checked again. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. We measure the hall, stairs, doors and any lift along with the room itself, so kitchens arrive in sections that fit through. Floors and doorways are protected while the pieces come in.

  1. You get in touch with a few details about the kitchen.
  2. We visit, measure and discuss the layout, larder, dresser or island, where space allows.
  3. A quote in writing is sent to you, setting out the cabinets, materials and finish.
  4. The kitchen is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. The cabinets are fitted in your home, with plumbing, gas and electrics by your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician. It helps to have those trades booked in good time.

Before we arrive

  • Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
  • Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street

How to get a quote

There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, when we have measured up and talked through the design. To arrange a visit, fill in our short enquiry form.

Pricing bespoke kitchens in Peckham

When we put a quote together, we consider:

  • Doors and drawers, and how many
  • Spray painting or hand painting
  • Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
  • How square the room is

Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

What to send when you contact us

When you contact us, these help most:

  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
  • The type of home and how the room is reached
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any ideas or images you have saved

If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we’ve measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To start, send us a few details through our contact form.

FAQs: bespoke kitchens in Peckham

My home in Peckham is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?

We measure the route in as well as the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. It is useful to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Queens Road Peckham station?

Yes, homes across Southwark and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with some details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

How long does fitting take?

It depends on the kitchen. How long fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and your quote sets out the fitting days.

Does fitted furniture need planning permission?

Not normally. Fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission, even in a conservation area. Listed buildings can require listed building consent for works that affect their character.

What finishes do you offer?

There are two ways to finish it: spray painted or hand painted. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.

Do I need to be at home on fitting day?

We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It is good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.

Flats, leases and landlords

Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Let us know about it when you contact us.

For flats on red routes or busy main roads, unloading takes some planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so tell us about it at the design visit.

When you need someone else

Before you plan the job, it helps to know what we do not do:

  • Gas work, which is for an engineer on the Gas Safe Register
  • Structural changes to the room
  • Connecting sinks, taps and dishwashers

If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can tell us about the room on our contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. How it works.

Near listed buildings like Southwark Adult Education Institute, less than half a mile east of the centre of Peckham, older homes may keep original joinery that kitchens can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. If you live near Brimmington Park, a tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design.
