Loft storage for homes in South Ealing

Our work is in loft rooms that are already converted, or lofts that are boarded. We do not carry out loft conversions, and Building Regulations apply to a conversion. With the room in place, we can plan the storage. If you have a converted loft in South Ealing, the design visit is the first step. Typical reasons to get in touch are a loft room that still feels unfinished and nowhere to store bags and boxes, and the answer is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.

A large share of the homes around South Ealing were built before 1919, and older houses have lots of odd corners: under the stairs, in the bay, along the hall and under the eaves of a converted loft. Fitted storage is designed to make those spaces useful.

Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. The finish is stated too, whether that is spray painting or hand painting.

Flats, leases and landlords

For flats on red routes or busy main roads, unloading takes some planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so it is worth raising at the design visit.

Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Let us know about them during the design visit, and we will plan the fitting around them.

Loft storage in South Ealing: local notes

The biggest shares of homes in the area around South Ealing were built before 1919 (about 66%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 15%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. We take that into account at the measuring visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. The Ealing Green Conservation Area is close by, within about a quarter of a mile of the centre of South Ealing. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Your council can advise if you’re unsure. Each London borough runs its own parking controls, and Ealing is no exception. If your road in South Ealing falls in a zone, the van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Parking near your home is worth mentioning at the measuring visit.

If you live in a flat close to Brentford station, the route in is measured not just the room, and the sections are sized to fit it. If your children go to Grange Primary School or a school nearby, a place for each person’s coat and shoes stops the hallway filling up. For an older house near St Mary's Church, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk.

Common questions about loft storage

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Brentford station?

Yes, homes across Ealing and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with some details about the room.

Can you make loft storage for a home in South Ealing?

Yes, we work across Ealing, South Ealing included, and across the rest of London. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

Someone needs to be there to let us in. After that, you do not need to stay in the room, though we like to go over the furniture with you at the end.

Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?

It needs a little planning: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. We don’t treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.

Do I choose the paint colour?

The choice is yours, and it’s agreed with you before painting. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you’ve chosen.

What are your eaves cupboards made from?

Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish. Stable materials suit a loft, where temperatures can vary. Your quote confirms the materials and finish.

How fitting day works

The last stage of the day is the finish. With a spray finish from the workshop, there is normally only filling and touching up to do in the room; hand painting, if that’s what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. If your hall still has its original tiles or boards, they’re covered before any carrying starts. Fixings into older walls are made carefully, as lath and plaster can crack if treated roughly. Any decorating around the new pieces is for your decorator.

  1. It starts when you get in touch with some details about the loft, and how you get up to it.
  2. We visit to measure the eaves and slopes and discuss the design.
  3. A quote in writing follows, with the design, finish and fitting days set out.
  4. Your storage is made in our workshop and painted to your chosen colour. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We carry it up, fit it and leave it ready to use, with the finish sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site.

Before we arrive

  • Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
  • Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture

Starting with a design visit

Every quote follows a design visit. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, and the written quote comes after. Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. To book a design visit, message us from the contact page.

Bespoke loft storage or ready-made?

With ready-made furniture, the colour is the maker’s choice. Ours is spray-painted or hand-painted in a colour agreed with you, so it sits with the rest of the room. Recesses in older houses come in every size except the standard ones, so off-the-shelf pieces either don’t fit or leave a gap either side. Furniture made for the space fills it.

What goes inside matters as much as the outside: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. We will talk through what you need inside at the design visit, and the quote follows.

Why choose us

  • Made in our workshop, then fitted in your home
  • Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
  • Finished by spray or by hand
  • Made for your room, not a standard size

Take a look at how bespoke compares with ready-made or what to look for in a quote.

What affects the price in South Ealing

A few things affect what fitted furniture costs:

  • Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • How big the furniture is
  • Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
  • Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside

Every room is priced on its own, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

What to send when you get in touch

To give us a picture of the room, it’s useful to include:

  • Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
  • Your postcode and the borough
  • Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
  • Pictures of styles you like, if you have any

You do not need exact measurements to get started. We measure everything properly at the measuring visit. To get started, drop us a line using the contact form and tell us about the room. You receive a written quote after the visit.

What loft storage cannot fix

We don’t treat damp or carry out building work, so these points are worth knowing:

  • Building Regulations approval for a conversion
  • Electrical work in the loft
  • Loft conversions, which we don’t carry out

If in doubt, you can drop us a line using the contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.
