Kitchens in Westbourne homes
The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Westbourne were built before 1919 (about 59%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 14%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Near the centre of Westbourne, Historic England’s list includes Church of St Mary Magdalene (Grade I), about 0.6 miles north-east, and Church of St Mary of the Angels (Roman Catholic) (Grade II*), under half a mile south-west. Works inside a listed home that affect its character, for example removing original joinery or fixing into it, can need listed building consent from the council. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. Red routes, run by TfL, have strict rules on stopping and loading. If your street in Westbourne joins a main road, it is worth telling us at the measuring visit. That way we can plan where to load and unload.
Kensington Palace, about 0.8 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, tall ceilings can take larder cupboards right up to the top. Close to Emslie Horniman's Pleasance? A cupboard by the back door for boots and coats can be built in with the kitchen. If your home is one of the older houses near St Stephen's Church, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true.
Westbourne is within the City of Westminster, about 2 miles east of City of Westminster. Our work covers every London borough and the City of London, Westbourne included. We cover places right across Westminster, large and small.
Here we cover the W2, W11 and W9 postcode area for bespoke kitchens. Whether you live on a street such as Salem Road, Acklam Road and Morgan Road or on one nearby, we can arrange a design visit for bespoke kitchens. The A404 and A4206 runs close to Westbourne; on busy main roads, unloading kitchens takes a little planning. Close by, we also work in Westbourne Green (1 mile north-east), Bayswater (1 mile south), Little Venice (1 mile north-east), Maida Vale (1 mile north) and Paddington Green (1 mile east). Other parts of Westminster we cover include City of Westminster (2 miles east), Marylebone (2 miles east), Soho (3 miles east), Chinatown (3 miles east), St James's (3 miles east) and Covent Garden (3 miles east).

About our bespoke kitchens in Westbourne
We are carpenters, so we make and fit the cabinets, while other trades handle the services. Plumbing is done by your plumber, gas by a Gas Safe registered engineer and electrics by your electrician, and we plan the cabinets around where their work goes. If you are living with more storage in a small kitchen and an island where space allows, that’s what kitchens are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.
In streets where many homes were built before 1919, as they were around Westbourne, a chimney breast often survives in the kitchen, and it can frame a range cooker or a dresser. A blocked chimney still needs ventilating, and any damp is sorted before cabinets go against it. Plumbing, gas and electrics are for your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician.
A written quote follows the design visit. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish.

What it costs
To work out the quote, we look at:
- The internal fittings
- How big the furniture is
- Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
- How square the room is
Access to the room makes a difference too. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections. Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit.
What to send when you get in touch
A little information at the start saves time later. If you can, send:
- What the furniture needs to hold
- A few pictures of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
- Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
- Approximate measurements of the space
Photos help us understand the room before we visit. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space, especially with rough measurements. To send them over, drop us a line using the contact form, and we’ll suggest a time for a design visit.
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Ready-made cabinets often have chipboard carcasses. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, painted in colours you choose, finished to suit the room. Off-the-shelf furniture is made for flat walls and level floors, which older houses rarely have, so you end up with gaps, wobbles and units that don’t meet the skirting. Fitted furniture is scribed to the wall instead.
What goes inside matters as much as the outside: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. We will talk through what you need inside during the design visit, then set it out in the quote.
Why us?
- We visit, measure and discuss the design before we quote

Flats, conversions and leaseholders
Conversions and newer flats often have stud walls rather than solid brick. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of, which we check at the design visit.
Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Let us know about them during the design visit, and we will plan the fitting around them.

Fitting day, step by step
Finishing comes last. With a spray finish from the workshop, there is normally only filling and touching up to do in the room; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. In houses converted into flats, the route in may include a shared hall and stairs, so neighbours may appreciate a note before fitting day. The sections are sized for the narrowest point on the route. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You get in touch and let us know about the room and how you cook.
- At the design visit we measure the room and go through the layout, storage and finish, including where the sink and appliances will go.
- You get a written quote for the cabinets, with the materials and finish set out, for you to read through.
- The cabinets, doors and drawer fronts are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the cabinets in your home; plumbing, gas and electrics are done by your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician. We don’t arrange those trades, so it is useful to book them early.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
Starting with a design visit
If you already have something in mind, tell us; if you don’t, that is fine, and we can work it out together. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, send us a few details through our contact form.

FAQs: bespoke kitchens in Westbourne
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Westbourne?
It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.
Is Westbourne in the area you cover for bespoke kitchens?
Yes. We cover all of Westminster and the rest of London, and Westbourne is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and go through the design, and then we send a quote.
Do you work on Saturdays?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Just mention it when you contact us, and we will see what we can do.
Can you fit furniture on an external wall?
It needs a little planning: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. Damp treatment is not something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.
What materials do you use for kitchens?
MDF for smooth painted parts and birch plywood for drawer boxes and shelves. The finish is spray painted in our workshop or hand painted, in colours you choose.
Should I send pictures?
Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit, along with rough measurements. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.
