Pricing fitted cupboards in Bethnal Green

The price for your room depends on:

  • Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • The number of doors and drawers
  • The internal fittings
  • Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls

Every room is priced on its own, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

Before the design visit

Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:

  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
  • Examples of the look you’re after
  • What you’d like to store or use the space for
  • Approximate measurements of the space

The design visit is where every quote starts. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. Afterwards, we send a written quote. To book one, use our contact form.

Fitted cupboards for homes in Bethnal Green

Gas meters, electricity meters and fuse boards tend to be where you’d least like them, under the stairs, in a hallway or beside the front door. We can build a cupboard that tidies them away, while keeping them easy to reach. Meter readers and engineers need to get to them, so the doors or panels are planned with that in mind. If your home has a utility room with proper storage and a neat cupboard around the boiler, that is what fitted cupboards are for, made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.

One flat can have concrete, block and plasterboard walls side by side. With purpose-built flats home to most households around Bethnal Green, we check each wall during the design visit before choosing fixings. Storage on a lightweight wall stands on the floor and is fixed back for stability.

A written quote follows the design visit. It sets out the design we’ve talked through, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

What happens on fitting day

Once the main sections are fixed in place, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly. The time the fitting takes depends on how many cupboards there are and where they go, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Loading near a block of flats can take some planning, so let us know about bays, permits or any loading area at the measuring visit. The sections are assembled in the flat and fixed to suit the walls. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. You get in touch with some details about the space. A rough sketch helps if you have one.
  2. We visit, measure and talk through doors, shelves and rails.
  3. A quote in writing is sent to you, setting out the design, materials and finish.
  4. Everything is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. The cupboards are fitted in your home.

Before fitting day

  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street
  • Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
  • Clear the walls of pictures and shelves

FAQs: fitted cupboards in Bethnal Green

My home in Bethnal Green is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?

At the design visit, we measure the way in as well as the room. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. It is useful to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.

Can you make fitted cupboards for a home in Bethnal Green?

Yes, Bethnal Green is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Tower Hamlets and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and go through the design, and then we send a quote.

Who chooses the colour?

You choose it. The paint colour is agreed with you, and it is set out in the quote.

How is the furniture painted?

There are two options: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. Your quote sets out which you have chosen.

Do I need planning permission for fitted furniture?

Not normally. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, and furniture inside a house does not normally need it. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.

How much does a fitted cupboard cost?

The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Each cupboard is different, so we quote once we have seen the space. To get started, drop us a line using the contact form.

Storage in Bethnal Green homes: local notes

In the neighbourhood around Bethnal Green, the largest groups of homes date from between 1945 and 1972 (about 29%) and the years since 2000 (about 27%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Near the centre of Bethnal Green, Historic England’s list includes Church of St John on Bethnal Green (Grade I), less than half a mile east, and Church of St Chad (Grade I), about 0.6 miles west. Works inside a listed home that affect its character, for instance removing original joinery or fixing into it, may need listed building consent from the council. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. A quarter or more of the homes in the area around Bethnal Green (about 27%) were built since 2000, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Newer homes often have little built-in storage, and their walls are typically plasterboard on studs, so the fixings for fitted cupboards are chosen for the board.

Why people ask for fitted cupboards in Bethnal Green

The usual reason is simple: there’s too much stuff and not enough storage. Coats pile up on the newel post, shoes gather by the door and the vacuum lives in a corner. A cupboard built for the space gives everything a place and clears the floor.

Most of the enquiries we get are about things like these:

  • Built-in storage that matches the woodwork
  • Storage for towels and bedding
  • Cupboards for a utility or boot room
  • Storage for coats and shoes in the hallway

If you live in a period home close to St Peter's, hallway recesses and alcoves are where fitted cupboards earn their keep.

What to check before you book

  • Whether they measure the room themselves
  • Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?
  • Can you see real work of theirs?
  • How doors and drawers are fitted

How to choose a carpenter in London

When is bespoke worth it?

A confident DIYer can manage simple shelves or a standard wardrobe in a square room. Sloping ceilings, uneven floors and lath-and-plaster walls make it harder.

The real difference is in the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. Off-the-shelf furniture can’t usually do that in an older room.
