City of Westminster homes and fitted cupboards
In the streets around City of Westminster, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 46%) and the years since 2000 (about 19%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). That matters for fitted cupboards, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. There are 776 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of City of Westminster. Older homes nearby may have original joinery, shutters or panelling worth keeping, and the furniture can be designed around them rather than over them. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of inner London. In City of Westminster, a van will normally need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, and the council arranges suspensions, often with notice. Parking is worth mentioning at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Close to Hyde Park? Fitted cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things. For a flat near Bond Street station, fitted cupboards are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room. Handel Hendrix House, about 0.3 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, an old boiler or airing cupboard can be rebuilt with proper shelves.

Fitted cupboards in City of Westminster: what you get
Boxing in a boiler is a job that needs care. Every boiler comes with instructions on the space and ventilation around it, and the cupboard is built to respect them. Doors open wide enough for servicing, while any work on the boiler is for an engineer on the Gas Safe Register. Typical reasons to get in touch are storage for towels and bedding and tall cupboards where space is short, and the answer is made in our workshop from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
A large share of the homes around City of Westminster were built before 1919, and older houses have plenty of odd corners: under the stairs, in the bay, along the hall and under the eaves of a converted loft. That’s where fitted storage comes in.
The quote comes in writing, so you can read it at your own pace and share it with anyone else involved. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

Your questions about fitted cupboards in City of Westminster
Do you make fitted cupboards for homes in City of Westminster?
Yes. We cover all of Westminster and the rest of London, and City of Westminster is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and discuss the design, followed by a quote.
Is parking a problem for fitting in City of Westminster?
It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.
What do fitted cupboards cost?
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. The size, the inside layout and the finish all make a difference. For a design visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
Can you hide my gas and electricity meters?
Yes. We can build a cupboard that hides them neatly and still leaves them reachable. Moving them is not our work, as that is a job for your supplier or electrician.
Should I send pictures?
Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit, along with rough measurements. It is useful to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
Someone needs to let us in at the start of the day. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.
From workshop to your room
There isn’t much for you to do on fitting day. Someone needs to let us in, and the room should already be cleared, as agreed during the design visit. After that, it’s over to us: the floors are covered, the sections come in and the fitting begins. How long fitting takes depends on how many cupboards there are and where they go, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Hallways in period houses are often narrow, and the stairs turn sharply, so fitted cupboards are made in sections sized to get through. Floors and stair carpets are protected on the way in and out, and the sections are joined and scribed in the room.
- To begin, fill in our short enquiry form; a brief note on the space and anything in it that needs access is plenty.
- We visit to measure and plan the cupboard so meters, fuse boards and any boiler stay easy to reach. Boiler work itself is for a Gas Safe registered engineer.
- A quote in writing follows with the design, materials and finish.
- The cupboards are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with the access planned in.
- We fit them in your home, scribed to the walls, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Preparing the room
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
- Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
Getting a quote
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, when we’ve measured up and talked through the design. For a quote, tell us about the room on our contact form.

What else we make in City of Westminster
What affects the cost of fitted cupboards
What it costs comes down to the materials and the time involved. That depends on:
- Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- How big the furniture is
- What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
- Parking and unloading on your street
Awkward rooms take more time: uneven walls, sloping floors and angled ceilings all add scribing and cutting on site. The quote allows for it, written once we’ve measured up.
Helping us understand the room
There is no need for exact sizes or plans. Just send what you can:
- How you want to use the space
- Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- Your postcode and the borough
A quote begins with some details from you: which room it is, rough sizes and a couple of pictures if you can take them. When you’re ready, tell us about the room on our contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and discuss the design, then send a quote in writing.
When you need someone else
Before you plan the job, it helps to know what we do not do:
- Plastering, decorating or repairs to the walls
- Plumbing for washing machines or sinks (your plumber)
- Electrical work inside the cupboard
Not sure whether your space suits fitted cupboards? You can send us a few details through our contact form and we’ll tell you. Our process from visit to fitting.

- Moisture-resistant MDF
Is bespoke worth it?
You can put together a flat-pack cupboard yourself, and that is a real advantage. Ours takes more planning: a design visit, a quote, making and fitting, but it is built around your space. Ready-made units stop well short of a tall period ceiling, and that space collects dust instead of storage. Fitted furniture can go all the way up.
The finish affects the cost: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.
What you get with us
- Finished by spray or by hand
- 300+ projects completed
- Fitted tight to walls that are not straight
- Saturday visits and fitting by arrangement

Flats, conversions and lettings
We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let, often to make the most of a small or tricky room. It’s made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work.
Many London terraces have been converted into flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind, once we’ve measured the way in.
