Fitted cupboards in East Village: what you get
Our fitted cupboards are made for homes in East Village and all over London. It starts with a design visit, where we measure and talk through what you need, and then send you a quote. Once agreed, we make the cupboards in our workshop and fit them in your home. The time the fitting takes depends on how many cupboards there are and where they go, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. If your home has cupboards for a utility or boot room and tall cupboards where space is short, that’s what fitted cupboards are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
Many homes around East Village were built since 2000, and across London a lot of homes from those years are flats with compact layouts. Where a boiler or cylinder sits in a cupboard, the design keeps the clearances its maker sets out. Shallow cupboards suit narrow halls, so the hallway still feels open.
The quote names the materials: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job. The finish is stated too, whether that’s spray painting or hand painting.

Boards, parts and paint
Doors and drawer fronts
Where space is tight, we plan how each door swings, so nothing blocks the way.
Moisture-resistant MDF
We use moisture-resistant MDF for many doors and carcasses, because it stays flat and paints beautifully. It’s a good choice for utility rooms and cupboards on external walls.

Pricing fitted cupboards in East Village
Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. What affects it comes down to:
- Parking near your home
- How many doors and drawers there are
- The width and height of the space
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
Tricky rooms take more time: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. The quote allows for it, which we write after seeing the room.
What we need to know
What helps most when you first contact us:
- Rough measurements: width, height and depth
- Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
- Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
- How you want to use the space
If you already have something in mind, tell us; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we have measured, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To arrange a visit, send us a few details through our contact form.
How fitting day works
Furniture made in a workshop still has to meet the room it’s going into, and fitting day is where that happens. Walls in older homes are rarely flat or square, so each edge that meets a wall is scribed to follow it. How long the fitting itself takes depends on how many cupboards there are and where they go, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Walls in newer homes are often plasterboard on studs, so fixings go into the studs or use fixings made for the board. Floors are protected throughout, as many newer homes have finished floors that mark easily.
- You tell us where the cupboards should go and what they need to hold.
- We visit to measure and check how level the floor and walls are.
- A quote follows, setting out the design and finish.
- We build the cupboards in our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit them in your home, scribed to the walls and set level.
Before we arrive
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- Keep pets in another room while we work
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
Ask for a quote
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, once the room is measured and the design talked through. For a quote, message us from the contact page.

Looking after your furniture
These points come up often when people plan fitted cupboards. They help whatever the room:
- Make sure walls are dry before we fit
- Leave room in front of the meters
- Mention any parking or lift rules
- Check stairs, landings and doorways for access
New paintwork takes a while to harden fully after fitting. Treat the doors gently at first and avoid heavy cleaning. In time, a damp cloth and a little mild soap keeps them clean.
If you live in a leasehold flat, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. We can’t advise on your lease, but it is worth doing before the design is agreed.
Flats, blocks and rented homes
A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it, once we have measured the way in.
If the property is let, we’ll need access agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. An agent can arrange access for you, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.
Fitted storage in East Village
Homes built since 2000 make up about 68% of the housing in the area around East Village, with about 12% built before 1919, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how fitted cupboards are fixed and fitted. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of East Village include The Theatre Royal (Grade II*), about 0.6 miles south-east. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, like fixing into original panelling. It is worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. London’s red routes are run by TfL, and stopping on them is tightly controlled. If your home in East Village is on or near a main road, tell us during the design visit. That way we can plan where to load and unload.
Close to Mabley Green? Living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and fitted cupboards can give those things a place. For an older house near St Eleutherius, hallway recesses and alcoves are where fitted cupboards earn their keep. Sutton House, about 1.8 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, fitted cupboards can fill recesses that are rarely a standard size.

Common questions about fitted cupboards
My home in East Village is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
We measure the route in not just the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Fitted cupboards are built in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.
Do you make fitted cupboards for homes in East Village?
Yes, East Village is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Newham and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and discuss the design, and then we send a quote.
How are fitted cupboards priced?
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. The size, the inside layout and the finish all make a difference. To arrange a design visit, send us a few details through our contact form.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You do. We agree the colour with you, and it is set out in the quote.
Can you hide my gas and electricity meters?
Yes. A cupboard can tidy them away without getting in the way of access. Moving them is not our work, as that’s a job for your supplier or electrician.
Can you fit furniture on an external wall?
It can be done with some care: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. We don’t treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.
