Fitted Cupboards in Queen's Park

We make fitted cupboards for homes in Queen's Park, designed around the room you have. Your fitted cupboard is designed at a visit to your home and built in our workshop.

  • A boiler cupboard that keeps access clear
  • Tidying away the gas and electricity meters
  • Storage in a corner nothing else fits

Fitted cupboards in Queen's Park

Before and after fitting day

The finish lasts best with a little care, whether it was spray painted or hand painted. These practical tips help:

  • Treat new paintwork gently at first
  • Think about what each cupboard will hold
  • Let us know how parking works on your street
  • Check your lease if you live in a flat

Doors are hung and adjusted when we fit them. Houses move a little with the seasons, so the hinges allow small adjustments later. A door that starts to rub can normally be set right at the hinge.

It’s useful to list what you want to store before we measure. A coat cupboard and a linen cupboard need quite different insides, and knowing this early saves changes later.

About our fitted cupboards in Queen's Park

Many landings have a spare corner or wall that could work harder. We can turn it into a linen cupboard, or storage for bedding and spare towels, with shelves spaced to suit what goes on them. We plan it so doors open without catching the stairs or the banister. If your home has storage for towels and bedding and cupboards that suit a period house, that’s what fitted cupboards are for, made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.

Original features like shutters, cupboard doors and panelling are worth keeping where they survive. Around Queen's Park, where homes from before 1919 make up a large share, new storage can be made to sit beside them rather than replace them. Door styles can be chosen to suit the age of the house. For a listed home, fixing into original joinery can need consent, so check first.

A written quote follows the design visit. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you are getting.

What it costs

We quote each job after the design visit, because no two rooms are the same. These are the things that affect it:

  • How big the furniture is
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
  • The internal fittings
  • How many doors and drawers there are

The finish affects the cost: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

Helping us understand the room

A few details help us understand the job before we visit. It is useful to include:

  • Examples of the look you’re after
  • Where you live, with the postcode
  • What you’d like to store or use the space for
  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling

The design visit is where every quote starts. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and go through the design with you. A quote in writing follows the visit, so you can take your time with it. To arrange the visit, message us from the contact page.

How fitting day works

With the carcasses fixed and level, we hang any doors and fit any drawers or lids. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the cupboards and the room, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. In houses converted into flats, the route in may include a shared hall and stairs, so neighbours may appreciate a note before fitting day. Each section is sized for the tightest door or turn. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. It starts with a short note from you.
  2. At the design visit we measure at several points, as walls and floors in older homes are rarely flat or level.
  3. A written quote follows.
  4. We make the cupboards in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. On fitting day each cupboard is set level on a plinth or adjustable feet and scribed to the wall.
  6. Your finish is sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site; go gently with it at first while it cures.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
  • Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
  • Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture

How to get a quote

Pictures help us understand the room before we visit. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them give us a good feel for the space, especially with rough measurements. To share them, fill in our short enquiry form, and we will suggest a time for a design visit.

Could you do it yourself?

Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there is often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Furniture we make is built to the room’s own sizes, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.

Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that aren’t square. In period homes, walls lean, floors slope and the alcoves on each side are often different widths, which leaves standard units with gaps at the sides and top.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?

Ready-made cupboards are typically made from chipboard with a printed or plastic finish. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, painted in a colour you choose, so the finish can match the room. Ready-made units stop well short of a tall period ceiling, and that space collects dust instead of storage. Fitted furniture can go all the way up.

In London, parking can affect the price. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay near your home. Tell us about parking at the measuring visit, so we can plan for it.

Common questions about fitted cupboards

I live near Queens Park (London) station. Is that in your area?

Yes, homes across Brent and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can send us a few details through our contact form with some details about the room.

How do you fit fitted cupboards in a flat in Queen's Park?

We measure the route in as well as the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Fitted cupboards are built in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.

Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?

There are two choices: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. Your quote sets out which you have chosen.

What are your cupboards made from?

Moisture-resistant MDF for painted doors and panels, and birch plywood where strength matters. We spray paint in the workshop or hand paint, in a colour you choose.

Can the fitting be on a Saturday?

Yes, we can arrange Saturdays. Just mention it when you contact us.

What if the wall is cold or damp?

It can be done with some care: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. We don’t treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.

Fitted storage in Queen's Park

In the streets around Queen's Park, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 63%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 13%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. That matters for fitted cupboards, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. 9 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of the centre of Queen's Park. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings. Around Queen's Park, about 63% of homes date from before 1919, well above the figure for Brent as a whole, about 28%, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. So older-house details are more likely to come into the design of fitted cupboards.

Close to Queen’s Park? Living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and fitted cupboards can give those things a place. Near listed buildings like Church of St Augustine, about 0.5 miles east of the centre of Queen's Park, older homes may keep original joinery that fitted cupboards can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. The wider area includes historic houses such as Winfield House, about 1.7 miles east. If your own home is a period one, a landing recess can take a linen cupboard built to its exact size.
