Fitted wardrobes in Spring Grove, Hounslow

In Spring Grove, we design fitted wardrobes around the room you actually have. Your fitted wardrobe is designed at a visit to your home and made at our workshop.

  • A bedroom that never feels tidy
  • Empty alcoves in the bedroom
  • Musty smells in a wardrobe on a cold wall

How we price fitted wardrobes

Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. What affects it comes down to:

  • How many doors and drawers there are
  • Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • The internal fittings
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room

What goes inside matters as much as the outside: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside.

Helping us understand the room

You don’t need exact measurements or a plan. Just send what you can:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
  • Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on

You don’t need exact measurements to get started. Everything is measured properly when we visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To arrange it, get in touch through our contact form and let us know about the room. You receive a written quote after the visit.

Fitted wardrobes for homes in Spring Grove

What goes inside is where a fitted wardrobe earns its place. Long hanging, double hanging, shelves and drawers are arranged around what you own. It’s worth noting the clothes you reach for most before the design visit. If you are living with damp or musty clothes against an external wall and wasted space beside the chimney breast, fitted wardrobes made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted can solve it.

Around Spring Grove, with interwar houses or semis making up much of the housing, the third bedroom is often small, sitting over the stairs. Small rooms like that suit fitted wardrobes, whether the room is a guest room, a dressing room or a study. Nothing is assumed: the room is measured wall by wall.

Where other trades are needed, for example an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

Flats, blocks and rented homes

A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind, once we have measured the way in.

Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too, as it makes good use of an tricky room. It’s made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work.

Questions from Spring Grove

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Spring Grove?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit, so the day can be planned around it.

Will a conservation area stop me having fitted wardrobes fitted in Spring Grove?

Not normally. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, internal works that affect its character can require listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.

What finishes do you offer?

You can choose between two finishes: spray painted or hand painted. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.

Do I need to be at home on fitting day?

We need access, so someone has to let us in. You do not need to watch us work, but it is useful to be around at the end.

Can I choose the layout inside the wardrobe?

We plan it with you at the measuring visit, based on what you wear and how much of it there is. Adjustable shelves keep some flexibility for later.

Can I send photos ahead of the visit?

Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.

Could you do it yourself?

Off-the-shelf furniture can be a sensible choice. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job.

Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. That is something we plan for in the design.

Looking after your furniture

Getting the most from fitted wardrobes starts with the planning and carries on after fitting day. These are worth keeping in mind:

  • Move furniture away from the wardrobe wall beforehand
  • Ask your electrician about moving sockets early
  • Let us know which walls face outside
  • Think about where you’ll keep shoes, bags and folded clothes

Painted doors feel dry quickly but take longer to cure fully. For the first while, open and close the doors gently and don’t scrub the surfaces.

Close doors gently and don’t let them swing into furniture, and keep sliding doors from crashing into the ends. It helps the hinges and runners stay true.

Fitted wardrobes in Spring Grove: local notes

About 34% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Spring Grove went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 24% since 2000, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. That matters for fitted wardrobes, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Spring Grove include Summer House (Grade II), less than half a mile south, and Lancaster House (Grade II), less than half a mile east. For a listed home, changes inside that alter its character can require listed building consent from the council, for example removing or fixing into original panelling. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. The ULEZ, run by TfL, takes in all of London, so Hounslow is inside it. Vans bringing furniture to Spring Grove fall under it, just as they do across the rest of London. How the van gets to your door is planned at the design visit.

Close to Inwood Park? Fitted wardrobes are usually planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay. For an older house near St Mary's Church, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design. If you live in a flat close to Isleworth station, fitted wardrobes are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.

Fitting day, step by step

Period rooms often have skirting boards, picture rails, cornices or coving for the furniture to meet. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site, so it sits neatly against the room. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and your quote sets out the fitting days. In a 1920s or 1930s house, the hall and stairs are usually simple, though we still measure the route in as well as the room. The furniture comes in sections and is put together where it’s going.

  1. You contact us with a short note about the room and the wardrobes you have in mind.
  2. We visit to measure the room and discuss the design. We also look at the way in, in case the sections need to go up narrow stairs.
  3. Your quote follows, with the layout, materials and finish set out.
  4. The wardrobes are built in our workshop.
  5. We fit them in your home, levelled and scribed to the walls. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.

Before fitting day

  • Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
  • Keep pets in another room while we work
  • If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager

How to get a quote

It’s useful to see the room before we come. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them tell us a lot about the space, particularly with rough measurements. To share them, fill in our short enquiry form, and we’ll arrange a design visit.
