Fitted wardrobes for your home in Dollis Hill
What it costs
The price for your room depends on:
- How square the room is
- Parking near your home
- The number of doors and drawers
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit, so size is the starting point. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.
What we need to know
You do not need exact measurements or a plan. It is enough to send:
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- Examples of the look you’re after
- What the furniture needs to hold
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
The design visit is where every quote starts. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. Afterwards, we send a quote in writing, so you can take your time with it. To book one, send us a few details through our contact form.

Rail heights are set for the clothes they hold. A tall section suits long coats and dresses, while two rails, one over the other, suit shirts and jackets. We plan for the people using it too, keeping rails at a height they can reach. If your home has condensation behind a wardrobe on an outside wall and bedroom alcoves that could hold clothes, that’s what fitted wardrobes are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
The front bedroom in many 1920s and 1930s houses sits above a bay, so fitted storage usually goes on the walls either side while the bay stays open. Around Dollis Hill, a big part of the housing is interwar, semi-detached or detached, so that shape of room is worth knowing. Every wall is measured, as a room that looks square rarely is.
The furniture is made in our workshop after you’ve had the quote and decided to go ahead. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so you can check every detail beforehand.

Caring for painted furniture
None of this takes much effort. Here’s what we suggest:
- Let us know about the lift and stairs in your block
- Clear the wall where the wardrobes will go before fitting day
- Work out the split between long and short hanging
- Let us know about any damp you have seen on bedroom walls
Painted doors feel dry quickly but take longer to cure fully. For the first while, open and close the doors gently and avoid knocking hangers against the inside.
Do not dry washing inside a wardrobe or in the bedroom with the doors shut. A little ventilation in the room helps.
Materials and finishes
Hanging rails
Rails are placed so the top one is within easy reach without a step. Shelves above the rails hold things used less often.
Moisture-resistant MDF
Wardrobe doors are large, so stability matters. MDF stays flat and gives a smooth surface for painting, for plain or panelled doors alike.
Bedroom storage in Dollis Hill
Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 47% of the housing in the neighbourhood around Dollis Hill, with about 20% built between 1973 and 1999, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Near the centre of Dollis Hill, Historic England’s list includes Church of St Michael (Grade II), about 0.5 miles south-east. Listing covers the inside of a building as well as the outside, so works that affect a listed home’s character, like removing original joinery, may need listed building consent. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. Strict stopping rules apply on red routes, which TfL runs. If you live on or close to a main road in Dollis Hill, let us know during the design visit. We can then plan where the van will stop.
For families living near Our Lady of Grace Catholic Junior School, a mix of drawers and shelves copes with school uniform as well as everything else. If you live near Gladstone Park, a bedroom facing the green is best kept light, with the furniture on the side walls. The wider area includes historic houses like Heath House, about 2.3 miles east. If your own home is a period one, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design.
Dollis Hill is part of the London Borough of Brent, about 2 miles south-east of Kilburn. Wherever you are in Dollis Hill, it works the same way: we visit and measure, send a quote in writing, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it. Our Brent coverage includes Dollis Hill, along with the rest of the borough.
We make fitted wardrobes across NW2, NW10 and NW9 for fitted wardrobes. If your home is on a street like Brook Road, Lane Close and Crest Road, or close by, we can visit to measure up for fitted wardrobes. Nearby, we also make fitted wardrobes in Staples Corner (1 mile north-east), Neasden (1 mile south-west), Cricklewood (1 mile south-east), Willesden (1 mile south) and Brent Cross (1 mile north-east). Across the rest of Brent, our area takes in Kilburn (2 miles south-east), Harlesden (2 miles south), Wembley (3 miles west), Queen's Park (2 miles south-east), Kenton (3 miles north-west) and Kensal Rise (2 miles south).

Questions from Dollis Hill
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Brent Cross West station?
Yes. We cover all of Brent and the rest of London. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with a few details about the room.
Do you make fitted wardrobes for homes in Dollis Hill?
Yes. Dollis Hill is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Brent and London. You can tell us about the room on our contact form to arrange a design visit.
How long will the fitting take?
It depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. The wardrobes are made in our workshop first before we come to fit them.
Do I need planning permission for fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, and furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need it. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, by prior arrangement. Let us know when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.
Do I need to be in when you fit?
We need access, so someone has to let us in. You do not need to watch us work, though we like to go over the furniture with you at the end.

Flats, blocks and rented homes
For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf.
A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it, once we’ve measured the way in.
How fitting works for fitted wardrobes
On the morning of the fitting, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. The sections made in our workshop come in next, one at a time. The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Fitting day means carrying in the sections, joining them and fitting them to the walls. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturdays can be arranged.

It helps to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line tell us a lot about the space, along with rough measurements. To share them, fill in our short enquiry form, and we’ll suggest a time for a design visit.
