Ask about fitted wardrobes in Staples Corner

Do you need fitted wardrobes in Staples Corner?

Sharing a bedroom means sharing the wardrobe. We can plan separate sections for each person.

Typical reasons people contact us include:

  • Standard wardrobes that don’t fill the wall
  • A tight bedroom where doors get in the way
  • Wardrobes that are full to bursting
  • Damp or musty clothes against an external wall

For an older house near Church of St John, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design.

What to check before you book

  • How parking will work on your street
  • Whether the quote follows a visit to your home
  • A written quote that sets out the job
  • Can you see real work of theirs?

How to choose a carpenter in London

Fitted wardrobes for homes in Staples Corner

An outside wall is often colder than an inside one, and clothes pressed against a cold wall can lead to condensation. We allow for ventilation behind and within wardrobes on external walls. Moisture-resistant MDF is a sensible choice there too. If your home has an awkward slope in a loft bedroom and clothes piled on chairs and in spare rooms, that’s what fitted wardrobes are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.

Around Staples Corner, with interwar houses or semis making up much of the housing, the spare room may be the small one at the front, over the hall and stairs. Small rooms like that suit fitted wardrobes, whether the room is a guest room, a dressing room or a study. Nothing is assumed: the room is measured wall by wall.

A quote in writing follows the design visit. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish, so it’s clear what’s included.

Where other trades come in

Our work is the furniture itself: designing it, making it in our workshop and fitting it. In practice, that means:

  • Building work to create a loft room
  • Removing walls, chimney breasts or any structural work
  • Electrical work, like moving sockets or switches, which is for your electrician

If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can get in touch through our contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer. How a job runs, step by step.

Your questions about fitted wardrobes in Staples Corner

I live in a flat in Staples Corner. How will the furniture get up the stairs?

We measure the route in as well as the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Fitted wardrobes are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.

Do you make fitted wardrobes for homes in Staples Corner?

Yes, Staples Corner is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Barnet and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.

Can I send pictures ahead of the visit?

Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot. To send them, get in touch through our contact form.

What can go inside a fitted wardrobe?

We plan it with you at the design visit, based on what you wear and how much of it there is. Some shelves can be adjustable so the layout can change.

How do I get a quote for fitted wardrobes in Staples Corner?

It’s easiest to tell us about the room on our contact form and let us know about the room. We then arrange a design visit, measure up and send a written quote.

How much will my fitted wardrobe cost?

It depends on the size, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish, along with access and parking. The price comes in a quote in writing after the design visit.

Bespoke fitted wardrobes or ready-made?

Off-the-shelf wardrobes come in standard heights and widths, so there’s typically a gap on top and at the ends. A fitted wardrobe runs to the ceiling and the walls, so the space is used and there’s nowhere for dust to collect on top. In an extended or opened-up house, old and new walls often meet slightly out of line, which shows up against standard furniture. Fitted pieces are scribed to both.

What goes inside matters as much as the outside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, then set it out in the quote.

Why us?

  • Scribed to uneven walls
  • Made in moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
  • Built around your room
  • Saturdays by prior arrangement

From workshop to your room

Once the main sections are fixed in place, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. In a 1920s or 1930s house, the hall and stairs are usually straightforward, though we still measure the route in not just the room. The furniture comes in sections and is put together where it is going.

  1. You send us some details about the room and the storage you need, including any slopes, windows or alcoves.
  2. At the design visit, we measure up and plan the doors and the inside with you. We also look at the way in, in case the sections need to go up narrow stairs.
  3. We send a written quote for the wardrobes, so you can see what’s included.
  4. The wardrobes are made in our workshop, sized to get through your doors and up the stairs.
  5. We install the wardrobes, hang the doors and fit the rails, shelves and drawers. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.

Preparing the room

  • Let us know about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
  • Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician beforehand
  • Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall

Starting with a design visit

We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, when we’ve measured up and talked through the design. To arrange a visit, drop us a line using the contact form.

What it is made from

Doors and drawer fronts

Where there is room to open them, hinged doors give full access. In a narrow room, sliding doors save space.

Hand-painted finish

Hand painting lets you judge the colour in the room as it goes on. Scribed edges and joins are painted along with the rest.

Fitted bedroom furniture in Staples Corner

The biggest shares of homes in the area around Staples Corner were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 38%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 19%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. That matters for fitted wardrobes, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. A conservation area lies within about a quarter of a mile of the centre of Staples Corner, going by Historic England’s data. The controls in a conservation area are mostly about the outside of buildings, so furniture fitted inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. The council can confirm if you are not sure. TfL’s red routes have strict stopping rules. If you live on or close to a main road in Staples Corner, let us know during the design visit. We can then plan where the van will stop.

For a family home near Parkfield Primary School, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller. The wider area includes historic houses such as Heath House, about 2.2 miles east. For a period home anywhere nearby, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design.
