Hillingdon Fitted Wardrobes
Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. We make fitted wardrobes for homes in Hillingdon, each designed at a visit to your home.
- Clothes piled on chairs and in spare rooms
- Mismatched bedroom furniture
- Damp or musty clothes against an external wall

What prompts fitted wardrobes in Hillingdon
Sometimes it is a change in how a room is used. Built-in storage makes the room work for its new role while leaving space to move. Inside, the layout can change as needs change.
A few of the things people ask us to solve include:
- Wardrobes that are full to bursting
- Standard wardrobes that don’t fill the wall
- Several odd pieces where one run of storage would do
- Clothes with nowhere proper to go
If your children go to Abbotsfield School for Boys or a school nearby, a mix of drawers and shelves copes with school uniform as well as everything else.
What to check before you book
- Will the doors close with even gaps?
- Have they thought about parking near you?
- Will they visit to measure before quoting?
- Whether the finish is set out in the quote

Rail heights are set for the clothes they hold. Long coats and dresses need one tall section, while two rails, one over the other, suit shirts and jackets. We also think about who uses it, so the top rail is within comfortable reach. People usually come to us about a tight bedroom where doors get in the way and not enough hanging space, and the answer is made at our workshop from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
In an area where interwar homes or semis make up much of the housing, as around Hillingdon, bedrooms usually have regular walls, a window on one side and sometimes a chimney breast. That makes a full wall of fitted furniture simple to plan, laid out around what you store. If the loft has been converted, sloping ceilings bring their own options.
The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If something isn’t quite right, tell us before anything is made.

Bedrooms in Hillingdon: local notes
Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 50% of the housing in the area around Hillingdon, with about 25% built between 1945 and 1972, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. The National Heritage List records 8 entries within half a mile of the centre of Hillingdon. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. London’s red routes are run by TfL, and stopping on them is tightly controlled. If your street in Hillingdon joins a main road, it’s worth telling us at the design visit. That way we can plan where to load and unload.
For a flat near West Drayton station, fitted wardrobes are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Cedars House, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can need listed building consent.
Hillingdon is in the London Borough of Hillingdon, about 3 miles north-east of Ruislip. Anywhere in Hillingdon, the process is the same: a design visit, a written quote, furniture built in our workshop and fitting in your home. We cover places right across the rest of London, from the busiest high streets to quiet residential roads.
Every home in UB10, UB8, UB9 and HA4 is within our area for fitted wardrobes, from the main roads to the quieter streets. Streets in the area include The Larches, Brampton Road and Clifton Gardens, and we cover homes on all of them for fitted wardrobes. Hillingdon sits close to the B465 and B467. If your home is on one of them, tell us during the design visit, as some main roads have strict stopping rules. We also cover the places around Hillingdon: Ickenham (1 mile north), Cowley (2 miles south-west), Yiewsley (2 miles south-west) and Hayes (2 miles south-east). We also make fitted wardrobes in nearby places such as Ruislip (3 miles north-east), Yeading (2 miles east), Yiewsley (2 miles east), West Drayton (2 miles south), Ruislip Manor (3 miles north-east) and South Ruislip (3 miles north-east).
What’s near Hillingdon
Around Hillingdon, we cover homes near Oak Wood School, Highfield Primary School and Red Lion pub and the streets around them. The closest station to Hillingdon is West Drayton station, about 2.2 miles south-west. Other landmarks nearby include The Chimes (1.3 miles north-west) and Hillingdon Hospital (1 mile south-west). Not far away are Gutteridge Wood and Meadows.
Flats, leases and landlords
If the property is let, we’ll need access agreed with the tenants. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.
Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations. We can’t give advice on leases, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.
Common questions about fitted wardrobes
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Hillingdon?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit.
I live near West Drayton station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with a few details about the room.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
Someone needs to let us in at the start of the day. It’s good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.
Will fitted wardrobes get up the stairs to my flat?
We plan the sections around the route into your flat, then assembled in the bedroom. Let us know about any concierge or lift booking rules.
Do you do the electrics?
No. Sockets, switches and lighting are for your electrician, and some electrical work in homes is covered by Part P of the Building Regulations. We plan the furniture around where they’ll go.
Is it possible to build wardrobes into a loft room with a slope?
Yes. Sloping ceilings are common in loft conversions. The slope is measured at the design visit and the wardrobe scribed to it on site.
How fitting works for fitted wardrobes
If anything comes up on the day, just ask. Most of the decisions were made during the design visit and set out in your quote, so fitting day is about putting it in place carefully. The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. A front path or side gate can make the carry from the van simpler. Gates, paths and steps up to the door are part of the route we measure. Floors are covered from the door to the room, and the sections are assembled in place.
- It starts when you tell us about the room, the floor it is on and the wardrobes you want.
- At the design visit we plan the wardrobes with you and check the route in, including any lift or tight stair turn. Tell us about parking as well, as a van usually needs a permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension in much of London.
- A quote in writing follows with the design, materials and finish.
- The wardrobes are made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections sized for the route we measured.
- We carry the sections up, join them in the room and scribe them to the walls and ceiling.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
How to get a quote
Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, when we have measured up and talked through the design. To arrange a visit, fill in our short enquiry form.
Advice
What else we make in Hillingdon
Looking after your furniture
The finish lasts best with a little care, whether it was spray painted or hand painted. Here are our suggestions:
- Work out the split between long and short hanging
- Think about whether hinged doors will clear the bed
- Move furniture away from the wardrobe wall in advance
- List the things that will not hang, like jumpers and shoes
Doors can settle a little once the wardrobes are filled. Most hinges can be adjusted to bring a door back in line.
Spread heavy items rather than piling them in one place. Rails and shelves are planned for normal use.
What we don’t do
As carpenters, we leave some work to other trades. These are worth knowing before you plan:
- The loft conversion itself, which is building work under Building Regulations
- Structural changes to the room
- Fixing the cause of condensation or damp
If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can get in touch through our contact form and we will give you a straight answer. How a job runs, step by step.
