Fitted wardrobes for your home in North Hyde
Fitted wardrobes for homes in North Hyde
The biggest shares of homes in the area around North Hyde were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 29%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 26%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. That matters for fitted wardrobes, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. The Canalside Conservation Area is close by, within about a quarter of a mile of the centre of North Hyde. Planning controls in conservation areas are mainly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitting furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need permission. If in doubt, the council’s planning team can confirm. Strict stopping rules apply on red routes, which TfL runs. If your home is on or just off a main road, it’s useful to mention it. We can then plan where the van will stop.
Osterley House, about 1.3 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice. For a family home near Norwood Green Infant and Nursery School, the inside of fitted wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow. For a flat near Southall station, fitted wardrobes are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.
North Hyde is about 2 miles south-east of Hounslow, part of the London Borough of Hounslow. We can visit homes in North Hyde on weekdays, or on a Saturday by arrangement. Across Hounslow, we cover North Hyde and the places around it.
Design visits and fitting in UB2 and TW5 work the same way as everywhere else we cover. We cover homes on streets such as Lea Road, Fern Lane and Court Road, along with the roads around them, for fitted wardrobes and any of our other fitted furniture. North Hyde is near the A3005, so if your home is on a main road, mention it when you get in touch. If you’re just outside North Hyde, we also cover Heston (1 mile south), Norwood Green (1 mile east), Osterley (1 mile east), Lampton (1 mile south-east) and Hounslow West (2 miles south). Other parts of Hounslow we cover include Hounslow (2 miles south-east), Feltham (3 miles south-west), Brentford (3 miles east), Isleworth (3 miles south-east), Chiswick (5 miles east) and Strand-on-the-Green (4 miles east).

About our fitted wardrobes in North Hyde
Fitted wardrobes are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. The doors are finished with spray paint in the workshop or painted by hand, in a colour agreed with you. We then fit them in your home, setting them level on adjustable feet or a plinth. We make fitted wardrobes from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and the things people most often want solved are clothes with nowhere proper to go and not enough hanging space.
A bedroom used as a guest room, a study or a dressing room needs different storage. In North Hyde, as anywhere in London, we start by asking what the room is for. Then the layout, doors and inside fittings follow. You choose the colour, spray-painted or hand-painted.
Where other trades are needed, for example an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

Questions from North Hyde
Is parking a problem for fitting in North Hyde?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to tell us about parking during the design visit.
I live near Southall station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Hounslow and the rest of London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with some details about the room.
How do I get a quote?
Simply message us from the contact page. It’s useful to send rough measurements and a few photos, and we’ll arrange a design visit, followed by a written quote.
Can you fit wardrobes under a sloping ceiling?
Yes. Sloping ceilings are common in loft conversions, and fitted wardrobes are one of the best ways to use them. We measure the slope carefully during the design visit and scribe the wardrobe to it.
Is it possible to have storage over the bed?
Yes. Wardrobes can sit either side of the bed with a bridge of cupboards above. We plan it so the bed fits comfortably and the room still feels open.
Do you do the electrics?
No. Sockets, switches and lighting are for your electrician. We’ll design around them.
From workshop to your room
Once the main sections are fixed in place, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. It helps to clear the room and the route in before fitting day, including anything on the walls near the work. We cover floors and doorways first. Then the sections come in and are joined in place.
- To begin, fill in our short enquiry form; a brief note on the bedroom and what you need to store is enough.
- At the design visit we measure the room and plan the inside: long hanging, double hanging, shelves and drawers.
- The written quote sets out each wardrobe’s inside layout, the doors, the materials and the finish.
- Everything is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, which holds screws well for rails and runners.
- The wardrobes are fitted in your home, spray-painted in the workshop or hand-painted on site, and the inside fittings go in last.
Before fitting day
- Tell us about parking near your home
- Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
Arranging a design visit
Pictures help us understand the room before we visit. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space. To share them, message us from the contact page, and we will suggest a time for a design visit.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders
Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations. We cannot give advice on leases.
Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too, as it makes good use of an awkward room. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
Why bespoke in North Hyde?
Off-the-shelf wardrobes come in standard heights and widths, so there’s typically a gap on top and at the ends. A fitted wardrobe fills the space wall to wall and up to the ceiling, so the space is used and there’s nowhere for dust to collect on top. Walls and floors are seldom perfectly flat in any home, and standalone units show it with gaps and wobbles. Fitted furniture is scribed and levelled on site.
Awkward rooms take more time: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. The quote allows for it, written once we have measured up.
Why us?
- Made in moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
- Edges scribed to follow your walls
- Built in our workshop and fitted in your home
- Made for your room, not a standard size
Read bespoke vs off-the-shelf and what to look for in a quote.
What fitted wardrobes cannot fix
We make and fit furniture, and we don’t do electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering or structural work. There are a few other points to bear in mind:
- Treating damp or mould on the walls
- Redecorating around the wardrobes
- Taking out a chimney breast to make space
If in doubt, you can send us a few details through our contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. Our process from visit to fitting.

Could you do it yourself?
Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there is usually a gap left over at the top or at one end. Furniture we make is built to the room’s own sizes, so it can use the full height and width.
What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
