Fitted wardrobes in Heston, Hounslow

We make fitted wardrobes for homes in Heston, designed around the room you have. We design your fitted wardrobe at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.

  • Empty alcoves in the bedroom
  • Wardrobes that are full to bursting

How we price fitted wardrobes

There is no set price, because there’s no set room. The things that affect it are:

  • The internal fittings
  • The finish: spray painted or hand painted
  • The overall size of the piece
  • Doors and drawers, and how many

The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. A larger piece means more material and more time, so size comes first. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.

Before the design visit

Before the design visit, it helps us to know about:

  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
  • Any ideas or images you have saved
  • What you’d like to store or use the space for
  • A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner

To get a quote for fitted wardrobes in Heston, fill in our short enquiry form. Tell us which room it is and roughly what you have in mind, plus any rough measurements. Next comes a design visit, followed by a written quote.

Fitted wardrobes in Heston: what you get

What goes inside is where a fitted wardrobe earns its place. Long hanging, double hanging, shelves and drawers are arranged around what you own. It is worth noting the clothes you reach for most before the design visit. If your home has bedroom alcoves that could hold clothes and a tight bedroom where doors get in the way, that is what fitted wardrobes are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.

Many 1930s houses have had a loft conversion, adding a bedroom under a sloping ceiling, and the slope can take storage cut to its angle. A big part of the housing around Heston is interwar, semi-detached or detached. Our part starts once the loft has been converted, and the furniture is scribed to the slope and the walls.

After the design visit, we send you a written quote. It sets out the design we have talked through, the materials and the finish, so it’s clear what’s included.

Heston homes and fitted wardrobes

About 44% of the homes in the area around Heston went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 33% between 1945 and 1972, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. We take that into account during the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. The National Heritage List records 5 entries within half a mile of the centre of Heston. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. Around a third of the homes in the streets around Heston (about 33%) were built between 1945 and 1972, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Post-war bedrooms are normally simple shapes, which suits fitted furniture along a whole wall, with fixings chosen for concrete, block or brick.

If your home is one of the older houses near St Leonard's Church, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where fitted wardrobes go. For a family home near Westbrook Primary School, fitted wardrobes in a child’s room can be planned so the inside layout changes as they grow. The wider area includes historic houses like Osterley House, about 1.2 miles east. If your own home is a period one, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design.

Heston is within the London Borough of Hounslow, about 2 miles south-east of Hounslow. Whether your home in Heston is a terraced house, a flat or a newer build, we measure the room as it is and design around it. Across Hounslow, we cover Heston and the places around it.

Postcode districts we cover here for fitted wardrobes: TW5, UB2 and TW3. Whether you live on a street like Fern Lane, Sutton Road and Eton Avenue or on one nearby, we can arrange a design visit for fitted wardrobes. Heston is near the A3005; on busy main roads, unloading fitted wardrobes takes a little planning. If you’re just outside Heston, we also cover North Hyde (1 mile north), Norwood Green (1 mile north-east), Lampton (1 mile south-east), Hounslow West (1 mile south) and Osterley (1 mile east). Across the rest of Hounslow, our area takes in Hounslow (2 miles south-east), Feltham (3 miles south-west), Brentford (3 miles east), Isleworth (2 miles south-east), Chiswick (5 miles east) and Strand-on-the-Green (4 miles east).

Local landmarks in Heston

Around Heston, we cover homes near The Plough Public House and Heston Community School. Heston’s nearest station is Southall station, roughly 1.4 miles north of the centre. A little further out are Hounslow Hospital (1.2 miles south) and Treaty Centre (1.3 miles south-east). Open spaces near Heston include Garden Lake.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?

To be fair, modular wardrobe systems are easy to reconfigure. A bespoke interior is planned around what you own, and we can include adjustable shelves where you want flexibility. Standard widths rarely add up to the length of a real wall, so fitted furniture is made to the wall’s own length. It can also go up to the ceiling rather than stopping short.

The finish affects the cost: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

Read bespoke vs off-the-shelf or how to compare quotes.

When is bespoke worth it?

Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that are not square. Older London rooms tend to have leaning walls, sloping floors and alcoves of different widths, which leaves standard units with gaps at the sides and top.

Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. We design shelves with that in mind.

How fitting day works

The last stage of the day is the finish. With a spray finish from the workshop, there’s typically only filling and touching up to do in the room; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. Interwar houses usually have a straight run of stairs and a reasonable hallway, though we still measure the route in as well as the room. The furniture comes in sections and is put together where it’s going.

  1. You get in touch and let us know about the room.
  2. We come to measure and discuss the design, including the doors and the finish.
  3. We send a quote in writing.
  4. We build the wardrobes in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit them in your home, scribed to the walls and ceiling; a hand-painted finish is done on site.
  6. At the end we check each door and drawer with you; fresh paintwork needs gentle handling while it cures.

How to prepare

  • Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
  • Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
  • Keep pets in another room while we work

Arranging a design visit

What we don’t do

Not everything around fitted wardrobes is carpentry, like an electrician, a plumber or a Gas Safe registered engineer. Here is what to bear in mind:

  • Converting a loft (we build storage in lofts that are already converted)
  • Structural changes to the room
  • Treating damp or mould on the walls

Not sure whether your space suits fitted wardrobes? You can send us a few details through our contact form and we will tell you. How a job runs, step by step.

What it’s made from

  • Hanging rails, shelves and drawers
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Birch plywood
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Hinged or sliding doors

FAQs: fitted wardrobes in Heston

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Heston?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.

Do you make fitted wardrobes for homes in Heston?

Yes, we work across Hounslow, Heston included, and across the rest of London. You can tell us about the room on our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Can I choose the layout inside the wardrobe?

The inside is planned around your clothes. Long hanging, double hanging, shelves, drawers and shoe space can all be included, in the proportions you need. We talk it through during the design visit.

How long does it take to fit wardrobes?

The time on site depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. We will explain what fitting day involves before we start.

Is it possible to have storage over the bed?

Yes. Wardrobes can sit either side of the bed with a bridge of cupboards above. It is planned so there is room around the bed and the room does not feel enclosed.

Is it possible to build wardrobes into a loft room with a slope?

Yes. We shape the wardrobe to follow the slope, keeping hanging space at the tall end and drawers or shelves lower down. It turns awkward space into storage.
