Fitted wardrobes for homes in Edgware

A fitted wardrobe is built into the room itself, running floor to ceiling and wall to wall where the space allows. That leaves no gap above to gather dust and no wasted space at the sides. If you are planning fitted wardrobes in Edgware, we start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need. We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and the things people most often want solved are standard wardrobes that don’t fill the wall and clothes piled on chairs and in spare rooms.

In a 1930s semi, the main bedroom often sits over the front room and its bay, which leaves the side walls for storage and the bay for light. Around Edgware, a big part of the housing is interwar, semi-detached or detached, so that shape of room is worth knowing. Every wall is measured, as a room that looks square rarely is.

We write quotes in plain English, without jargon. They say what will be made, what it is made from and how it will be finished, taken from what we agreed at the visit.

Before and after fitting day

These points come up often when people plan fitted wardrobes. They help before and after fitting:

  • Look at how many long coats and dresses you have
  • Check how much space there is in front for doors to open
  • Move furniture away from the wardrobe wall in advance
  • Look at whether your lease needs consent for alterations

Leave a little space between clothes and the back of the wardrobe where the wardrobe sits on an outside wall. A little airflow helps keep damp at bay.

Don’t dry washing inside a wardrobe or in the bedroom with the doors shut, as the extra moisture can lead to condensation. Opening a window now and then helps.

Questions we are often asked

I live near Mill Hill Broadway station. Is that in your area?

Yes, homes across Barnet and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with some details about the room.

Is Edgware in the area you cover for fitted wardrobes?

Yes. We cover all of Barnet and the rest of London, and Edgware is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.

How is the price worked out?

It depends on the size, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish. We send a quote in writing after the design visit.

Do photos help?

Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough measurements. It helps to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.

Do I get to choose the colour?

You choose it. We agree the colour with you, and it’s set out in the quote.

Does someone need to be home during the fitting?

We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It’s good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.

Flats, leases and landlords

If the property is let, we will need access agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. An agent can arrange access for you, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.

In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. If there’s a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Let us know about it when you get in touch.

Materials and finishes

Spray-painted finish

A sprayed coat covers edges, corners and panels evenly for a smooth finish. The colour is agreed at the design stage.

Doors and drawer fronts

Where there’s room to open them, hinged doors give full access. In a narrow room, sliding doors save space.

What affects the price in Edgware

Several things affect the price:

  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
  • Doors and drawers, and how many
  • The overall size of the piece

The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

Helping us understand the room

What helps most when you first contact us:

  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
  • How you want to use the space
  • Approximate measurements of the space
  • Your postcode and the borough

The design visit is where every quote starts. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. A written quote follows the visit, so you can take your time with it. To book one, use our contact form.

Fitting day, step by step

There is not much for you to do on fitting day. We need someone to let us in at the start, and the room should already be cleared, as we’ll have talked about during the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long the fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. A front path or side gate can make the carry from the van simpler. Gates, paths and steps up to the door are part of the route we measure. Floors are covered from the door to the room.

  1. You get in touch about fitted wardrobes for your bedroom.
  2. At the design visit, we measure the room, check the walls, floor and ceiling and plan the doors and inside with you. Hinged or sliding doors are part of that conversation.
  3. We send a quote in writing with the layout, materials and finish, ready for you to read through.
  4. We build the wardrobes in our workshop, in sections sized to get into your home.
  5. We fit them in your home, scribe them to the walls and hang the doors.
