Fitted wardrobes in Burnt Oak, Barnet
Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. We make fitted wardrobes for homes in Burnt Oak, each designed at a visit to your home.
- An tricky slope in a loft bedroom
- Dusty space on top of the wardrobe
- Not enough hanging space

Do you need fitted wardrobes in Burnt Oak?
A spare room turning into a guest room or a child’s room is another reason. Fitted wardrobes give it proper storage while leaving space to move. Adjustable shelves let the inside change over time.
Requests we hear often include:
- Gaps above and around standalone wardrobes
- A tight bedroom where doors get in the way
- Space under the eaves going to waste
- Storage boxes stacked under the bed
If you live in a flat close to Mill Hill Broadway station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room.
Before you hire any carpenter
- Do they scribe the furniture to the walls?
- Will the doors close with even gaps?
- Whether the quote follows a visit to your home
- How they’ll get the furniture into the room
Fitted wardrobes in Burnt Oak
What goes inside is where a fitted wardrobe earns its place. Long hanging, double hanging, shelves and drawers are arranged around what you own. It helps to think about what you wear most before we meet. We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and the usual reasons to get in touch are standard wardrobes that don’t fill the wall and too little room for clothes.
A loft conversion is a common way to add a bedroom to a semi or an interwar house, and that slope can be used for storage built to the angle. A big part of the housing around Burnt Oak is interwar, semi-detached or detached. Our part starts once the loft has been converted, and the furniture is scribed to the slope and the walls.
Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

Fitted wardrobes in Burnt Oak: local notes
About 49% of the homes in the area around Burnt Oak went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 23% between 1973 and 1999, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Near the centre of Burnt Oak, Historic England’s list includes John Keble Church (Grade II), under half a mile north. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, such as fixing into original panelling. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. Strict stopping rules apply on red routes, which TfL runs. If you live on or close to a main road in Burnt Oak, let us know at the design visit. That way we can plan where to load and unload.
If your children go to The Annunciation RC Junior School or a school nearby, fitted wardrobes in a child’s room can be planned so the inside layout changes as they grow. Close to Watling Park? A bedroom facing the green is best kept light, with the furniture on the side walls.

How fitting day works
If anything comes up on the day, just ask. Most of the decisions were made at the design visit and set out in your quote, so fitting day is about putting it in place carefully. How long the fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Fitting day means carrying in the sections, joining them and fitting them to the walls. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.
- You get in touch with a few details about the bedroom and where it is in the house.
- We visit to measure the room and go through the design, and we measure the stairs, landings and doorways too.
- A written quote follows with the design, materials and finish.
- The wardrobes are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections sized for the route we measured.
- Fitting day: the sections come in, are joined and set level, and the doors are hung.
Before we arrive
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
Ask for a quote
A quote begins with a few details from you: the room, rough measurements and some pictures if you have them. To send them, get in touch through our contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and go through the design, then send a written quote.

When you need someone else
We’d rather be clear about where our work stops:
- Treating damp or mould on the walls
- Moving switches or sockets, which needs an electrician
- Painting walls and ceilings, or repairing plaster
If in doubt, you can send us a few details through our contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. Our process from visit to fitting.
Materials and parts
- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Spray-painted finish
- Hanging rails, shelves and drawers
- Hinged or sliding doors
- Birch plywood
- Hand-painted finish
Looking after your furniture
The finish lasts best with a little care. These practical tips help:
- Look at how many long coats and dresses you have
- Think about whether hinged doors will clear the bed
- Decide what goes on shelves and what goes in drawers
- Clear the wall where the wardrobes will go before fitting day
Painted wardrobe doors only need a soft cloth that’s barely damp. Skip scouring pads and harsh cleaners, as they can dull the paint.
Do not overload a single rail or shelf. Rails and shelves are planned for normal use, so tell us at the measuring visit if you need to store something heavy.
How we price fitted wardrobes
Prices vary from room to room, and it comes down to:
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
- Parking near your home
- How many doors and drawers there are
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
We don’t publish set prices, because every piece is designed for one room. Instead, we measure, talk through the design and then quote in writing, naming the materials and finish. To start, fill in our short enquiry form.
Getting in touch
The more you can tell us at the start, the better the design visit goes. It is useful to include:
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- Your postcode and the borough
- A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
- Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, when we’ve measured up and talked through the design. For a quote, tell us about the room on our contact form.
Your questions about fitted wardrobes in Burnt Oak
Is parking a problem for fitting in Burnt Oak?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It is useful to let us know about parking at the design visit.
Do I need permission for fitted furniture in a conservation area?
Typically not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character may need listed building consent from the council. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
Do you work outside London?
No. We work in London and nowhere else, across all the boroughs and the City of London.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, by prior arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you get in touch.
Can I choose the layout inside the wardrobe?
The inside is planned around your clothes. Long hanging, double hanging, shelves, drawers and shoe space can all be included, in the proportions you need. We plan it with you when we visit.
Do you do plastering or decorating?
No. Plastering and decorating aren’t part of our work. The furniture itself is spray painted or hand painted.
