How it’s made

Shelves

Shelving over the desk keeps reference books close. Lower, deeper shelves suit files and a printer. We plan the depths at the measuring visit.

Pull-out drawers

We make the drawer boxes from birch plywood for strength. They’re built for papers, files and kit. The fronts match the rest of the office.

Fitted home offices in Eden Park: what you get

The desk is the heart of a home office. It is made at a height and depth to suit you and the way you work, with storage below where it helps. Shelving and cupboards can then be built around it. We’ll talk through the details at the design visit in Eden Park. We make home offices from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and people most often get in touch about cables trailing across the desk and floor and flimsy shelves that won’t take the weight.

If you live in one of the interwar houses or semis around Eden Park, a dining room or spare bedroom is often the room that has to double as an office. Cupboards that close over the desk let the room switch back when you’ve finished. Cable routes and the position of sockets are planned into the design.

The furniture is made at our workshop after you have had the quote and decided to go ahead. The quote sets out the agreed design, materials and finish, so every detail can be checked first.

From workshop to your room

Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on the layout and how many pieces make up the office, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Loft stairs in an interwar house can be tight, with a low ceiling at the top, so any section going up there is sized for them. Elsewhere in the house, the route is normally more generous. Each section is assembled and fixed in the room.

  1. You get in touch and let us know how you work and where you’d like the office.
  2. We visit to measure the room and go through the desk, shelving and storage. New sockets are for your electrician, so it is useful to think about them early.
  3. A written quote follows, with the design, finish and fitting days set out, for you to read through.
  4. The desk, shelving and cupboards are made in our workshop.
  5. The office is fitted in your home and checked, ready for work.

How to get a quote

It helps to see the room before we come. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them give us a good feel for the space. To send them over, send us a few details through our contact form, and we’ll arrange a design visit.

FAQs: fitted home offices in Eden Park

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Eden Park?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit.

Do you cover homes near Eden Park station?

Yes, homes across Bromley and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with some details about the room.

What if the stairs or lift are small?

The furniture is built in sections, sized for the route as well as the room. At the design visit, we measure the route as well as the room.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, Saturdays are possible by arrangement. Just mention it when you get in touch.

Which materials go into your home offices?

Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish. Shelves are made to suit the load they’ll carry. Your quote confirms the materials and finish.

Do photos help?

Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough sizes. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.

Flats, blocks and rented homes

A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind, after measuring the route at the design visit.

Conversions and newer flats often have stud walls rather than solid brick. We choose fixings to suit the wall, after checking the walls at the design visit.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?

With ready-made furniture, the colour is the maker’s choice. We paint the office in the colour you choose, so it can match the room or the woodwork. Doors, windows and radiators rarely leave a gap that matches a standard width, which leaves ready-made pieces sitting awkwardly. Built-in pieces are planned around those fixed points.

The finish affects the cost: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.

What it costs

Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. What affects it comes down to:

  • How square the room is
  • Doors and drawers, and how many
  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
  • Spray painting or hand painting

Tricky rooms take more time: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. The quote allows for it, which we write after seeing the room.

Getting in touch

Before the design visit, it helps us to know about:

  • What the furniture needs to hold
  • Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
  • Any ideas or images you’ve saved
  • Rough sizes, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres

In the streets around Eden Park, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 64%) and the years since 2000 (about 20%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. About 64% of homes in the area around Eden Park date from between 1919 and 1939, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Many interwar houses have a small room over the stairs that suits a built-in desk, built around the bulkhead.
