Flats, leases and landlords

Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Let us know about them during the design visit.

Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Mention it when you contact us.

Loft storage in Eden Park

Behind the short walls at the edge of a loft room, there’s often space going to waste. Eaves cupboards and pull-out drawers built into the knee wall put it to work. Drawers bring the back of the space within reach. At the design visit in Eden Park, we will see what fits. We make eaves cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and the things people most often want solved are furniture that can’t get up to the loft and no wardrobe that fits under the slope.

In a family house, the hall and stairs typically carry the most clutter. With interwar houses, semis and detached homes a large part of the housing around Eden Park, well-planned storage by the door or under the stairs can take a lot of it. Anything that needs to stay reachable, like meters or a fuse board, is designed around.

We write quotes in plain English, without jargon. You’ll see what will be made, the boards used and the finish, taken from what we agreed at the visit.

How fitting works for loft storage

The last stage of the day is the finish. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. In a 1920s or 1930s house, the hall and stairs are typically simple, though we still measure the route in not just the room. Eaves cupboards arrive in sections and are assembled in place.

  1. First you tell us about the loft room and what you’d like to store there, and how you get up to it.
  2. At the design visit we measure the knee walls, slopes and stairs and plan the storage with you.
  3. We send a written quote setting out the design, materials and finish.
  4. Your storage is made in our workshop and painted to your chosen colour.
  5. We fit it in your home, scribed to the slopes and the walls.

Preparing the room

  • Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
  • Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
  • Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day

Arranging a design visit

Getting a quote starts with a few details: the room, rough sizes and some photos if you have them. When you are ready, get in touch through our contact form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a quote in writing.

Pricing loft storage in Eden Park

Not every room costs the same, for these reasons:

  • Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
  • Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
  • The width and height of the space
  • Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension

No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. You’ll see the figure in your written quote, after the design visit.

Helping us understand the room

Getting some details early makes the visit more useful. Where you can, include:

  • Rough measurements: width, height and depth
  • Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
  • Where you live, with the postcode
  • What the furniture needs to hold

The design visit is where every quote starts. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and discuss the design with you. Afterwards, we send a written quote, so you can take your time with it. To arrange the visit, message us from the contact page.

Your questions about loft storage in Eden Park

Is parking a problem for fitting in Eden Park?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to let us know about parking at the measuring visit.

Can you make loft storage for a home in Eden Park?

Yes, we work across Bromley, Eden Park included, and across the rest of London. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, we can arrange Saturdays. Let us know when you first get in touch.

Can you get furniture up narrow loft stairs?

Every piece is made in sections that fit up the stairs. At the design visit, we measure the loft stairs, the turns and the landings. It means a full wardrobe can still reach the room.

Does someone need to be home during the fitting?

We need access, so someone has to let us in. After that, you don’t need to stay in the room, though we like to go over the furniture with you at the end.

What finishes do you offer?

There are two options: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. The finish is agreed in your quote.

Do you need loft storage in Eden Park?

The most common reason is wasted space. The low spaces at the edge of a loft room are hard to use. Cupboards and drawers built into the knee wall put it to work.

Requests we hear often include:

  • A new loft conversion that needs storage
  • Nowhere to store bags and boxes
  • Space under the eaves going to waste
  • Standard furniture that will not go up the loft stairs

For an older house near St John's Eden Park, eaves cupboards in a converted loft are scribed to slopes that are rarely even.

Before you hire any carpenter

  • Whether the route into your home has been checked
  • Which materials they’ll use, named in the quote
  • Will the quote be in writing?
  • Will they visit to measure before quoting?

How to choose a carpenter in London

How it’s made

Plinths and scribe strips

In a loft room, walls, slopes and floors are rarely straight. We use scribe strips and a plinth to take up the difference. The result is neat, even lines all round.

Birch plywood

We use birch plywood where strength matters. It goes into the carcasses, the drawers and the shelves. The edge can be left on show or painted.

Loft storage in Eden Park: local notes

About 64% of the homes in the area around Eden Park went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 20% since 2000, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how eaves cupboards are fixed and fitted. Near the centre of Eden Park, Historic England’s list includes Oak Lodge (Grade II), about 0.5 miles south, and Langley Court Chapel (Grade II), about 0.5 miles north-east. For a listed home, works inside that affect its character may need listed building consent from the council, for instance removing or fixing into original panelling. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. On TfL’s red routes, the rules on stopping and loading are strict. If you live on or close to a main road in Eden Park, let us know during the design visit. It lets us plan the stop before fitting day.

The wider area includes historic houses such as Bromley Palace, about 2.2 miles north-east. If your own home is a period one, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk. Close to Millers Pond? Living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place.
