Fitted home offices in Plashet, Newham

Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. We make fitted home offices for homes in Plashet, each designed at a visit to your home.

  • Glare from a window on the screen
  • A desk buried under papers
  • A guest room that is needed for work

Flats, leases and landlords

For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants. An agent can arrange access for you, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.

In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Mention it when you get in touch.

How we make fitted home offices for Plashet

An alcove beside a chimney breast can take a neat desk with shelves above. We scribe the desk and shelving to the alcove walls, which are rarely straight. The other alcove can hold matching cupboards or bookshelves. It makes a working corner that suits the room, in Plashet or anywhere else. If your home has a screen that’s hard to read by the window and a tangle of chargers and leads, home offices made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand can solve it.

With a large share of homes around Plashet built before 1919, the spare room in a period house is often small, with a sash window and a chimney breast. Home offices can make that room work, with the desk under the window or across an alcove. We plan where cables run, leaving any new wiring to your electrician.

We write quotes in plain English. You will see what will be made, the boards used and the finish, taken from what we agreed at the visit.

What prompts fitted home offices in Plashet

What’s behind you on a call is worth thinking about. Shelving and cupboards can give a calm, ordered background. It is a small detail that many people appreciate.

If you recognise any of these, it’s worth talking to us:

  • A laptop that moves from room to room
  • A desk buried under papers
  • A spare room that has to be an office and a guest room
  • Work things on show in the evening

If you live near West Ham Park, a desk placed to make the most of daylight makes a big difference to a working day.

  • Where they’ll park and unload
  • How they handle walls that are not straight

FAQs: fitted home offices in Plashet

Can you make fitted home offices for a home in Plashet?

Yes. Plashet is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Newham and London. To get started, you can use our contact form with some details.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Woodgrange Park station?

Yes, homes across Newham and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit.

How do you get the furniture up the stairs?

Getting it in is planned during the design visit. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doors, and each section is made to a size that will get through.

Who chooses the colour?

You do. We agree the colour with you before anything is painted.

Do I need permission to fit furniture in a leasehold flat?

Possibly. Leases vary, and some need consent for alterations. Your lease is something we cannot advise on, so check it or ask your managing agent.

What finishes do you offer?

You can choose between two finishes: by spray or by hand. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.

Honest limits

Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, so these points are worth knowing:

  • Setting up computers, screens or networks
  • Making good the walls, which is for a plasterer or decorator
  • Electrical work for the office, which your electrician carries out

Not sure whether your space suits fitted home offices? You can get in touch through our contact form and we’ll tell you. How it works.

Fitting day, step by step

Fitting day follows a set order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Parking on terraced streets can be tight, especially in a controlled parking zone, so it’s useful to tell us during the design visit what’s outside. The van is unloaded quickly, with the sections carried straight in. Saturday fitting can be arranged.

  1. You get in touch and tell us how you work and where you’d like the office, including the equipment you use.
  2. We come to measure and work out where the desk, shelves and cable routes should go.
  3. We send a quote in writing setting out the design, materials and finish, for you to read through.
  4. The desk, shelving and cupboards are built in our workshop.
  5. We bring it to your home, fit it and leave it ready to use, with cable routes left clear.

Preparing the room

  • Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
  • Let us know about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
  • Make sure pets are kept safely away

How to get a quote

The design visit is where every quote starts. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and discuss the design with you. A quote in writing follows the visit, so you can take your time with it. To arrange the visit, send us a few details through our contact form.

Is bespoke worth it?

If you only need a simple desk against a straight wall, an off-the-shelf desk may be enough. Bespoke work makes sense in an alcove, under a slope, or where you want the desk, shelves and storage to work together. We will give you an honest view at the measuring visit. Tall standalone furniture needs fixing back to the wall so it can’t tip, and older walls of brick or lath and plaster make that harder than it looks. With fitted pieces, the fixings are planned for the wall from the start.

Parking is part of the price picture in London. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay near your home. Let us know about parking at the design visit, so it can be planned.

Working from home in Plashet

In the streets around Plashet, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 71%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 13%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Near the centre of Plashet, Historic England’s list includes Passmore Edwards Library (Grade II), less than half a mile south-west, and East Ham Underground Station (Grade II), less than half a mile south-east. Listing covers the inside of a building as well as the outside, so works that affect a listed home’s character, like removing original joinery, can need listed building consent. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. London’s red routes are run by TfL, and stopping on them is tightly controlled. If you live on or close to a main road in Plashet, let us know during the design visit. We will plan where the van can stop.

If your children go to Plashet School or a school nearby, a desk with shelves and closed storage can serve both work and homework. If you live in a flat close to Woodgrange Park station, home offices are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.

Plashet is about 2 miles south-west of Plaistow, within the London Borough of Newham. We cover Plashet as part of our work across Newham, and the process is the same everywhere we work. We cover places right across Newham.
