Fitted home offices in Tottenham Hale

Bespoke fitted home offices or ready-made?

If you only need a simple desk against a straight wall, an off-the-shelf desk may be enough. A fitted office earns its place where the space is tricky or the storage matters. At the design visit, we’ll tell you honestly which approach suits your room. In a newer flat, big flat-pack units can be hard to get into the lift or through the door, whereas fitted furniture is made in sections that fit. It’s then assembled and fixed in the room.

We do not publish set prices, because every piece is designed for one room. Instead, we measure, talk through the design and then quote in writing. To arrange a design visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Fitted home offices in Tottenham Hale

Not every home has a spare room, but a wide landing or a loft room can work. Under a slope, the desk is placed where there’s headroom to sit and stand. On a landing, the furniture must leave a clear way past. At the design visit in Tottenham Hale, we will see what fits. We make home offices from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and the things people most often want solved are glare from a window on the screen and a room with two jobs to do.

Stud walls in newer homes can take shelves above a desk, as long as the fixings suit them. Since many of the homes around Tottenham Hale date from 2000 onwards, that’s something we check at the measuring visit. Heavier storage stands on the floor.

After the design visit, we send you a written quote. It sets out the design we have talked through, the materials and the finish.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. We choose fixings to suit the wall, after checking the walls during the design visit.

For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. An agent can arrange access for you, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.

How fitting day works

Finishing comes last. With a spray finish from the workshop, there is usually only filling and touching up to do in the room; hand painting, if that is what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. Parking at newer developments can be restricted, with private bays or loading areas, so let us know what applies during the design visit. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled and fixed. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.

  1. You tell us how you work and where you’d like the office.
  2. We measure the room, look at the light and note the sockets. Cable routes are planned at this point.
  3. We agree the desk, shelving and storage, and send a written quote, with the finish set out.
  4. The office is built in our workshop and painted in your colour. The materials are moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit it in your home and check every drawer and door with you.

Preparing the room

Hand-painted finish

A hand-painted finish can be applied once the furniture is in place. Marks can be touched in without much trouble. Like any new paint, it needs time to cure fully.

Doors and drawer fronts

Some home offices have doors that close over the whole desk. It suits a room that also has to work as a guest room or living room. We’ll discuss the options during the design visit.

Before and after fitting day

New paint needs time to cure fully, so go gently with it for a while. After that, a few simple habits help:

  • Mention any parking rules on your street
  • Consider doors to hide work at the end of the day
  • Measure your chair and how much room you need behind it
  • Notice where daylight falls at different times

If you are having new sockets fitted, your electrician can do that around the furniture as planned. It helps if they know where the cable routes are. Keeping cables in their routes keeps the desk tidy.

Use the cable routes so wires do not rub the paint. Tight cables can mark edges over time. Every so often, tidy the cables back into place.

FAQs: fitted home offices in Tottenham Hale

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Tottenham Hale?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.

Can you make fitted home offices for a home in Tottenham Hale?

Yes. Tottenham Hale is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Haringey and London. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Can you add power points to the desk?

We do not do electrical work, so sockets are for your electrician. The desk is planned with routes for cables and space for any sockets. It helps to agree the positions during the design visit.

My walls are not straight. Is that a problem?

It’s something we deal with all the time. The furniture is scribed to follow the walls and levelled on feet or a plinth.

What if the stairs or lift are small?

It’s made in sections, each one sized to fit the way in. At the design visit, we measure the route not just the room.

What are your built-in desks made from?

Our home offices are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then painted. Shelves are made to suit the load they’ll carry. Your quote confirms the materials and finish.
