Loft storage in Brentham Garden Suburb
Is it time for loft storage?
Some people want to make more of a dormer. Built-in furniture in a dormer puts it to work. It adds storage without crowding the room.
Here are some of the needs we’re asked about most:
- No wardrobe that fits under the slope
- Boxes and suitcases with no home
- A loft room that doubles as an office or guest room
- A dormer that is not being used
For an older house near Church of St Barnabas, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- A quote in writing that sets out the job
- Whether the quote follows a visit to your home
- Is it spray painted or hand painted?
- Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
How we make loft storage for Brentham Garden Suburb
A loft room can hold a great deal of storage, if the low spaces are used well. Our loft storage includes eaves cupboards, knee-wall drawers, wardrobes under sloping ceilings and dormer shelving, each shaped to the room. In Brentham Garden Suburb, as everywhere we work, it begins with a visit to measure and plan. We make eaves cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish, and the usual reasons to get in touch are no wardrobe that fits under the slope and low eaves that nobody can use.
In an area where interwar homes or semis make up much of the housing, as around Brentham Garden Suburb, many have had the loft converted, leaving low eaves and sloping ceilings. Fitted storage can make use of the eaves, the bay or the hall. For lofts, we work in spaces that are already converted or boarded.
A written quote is the clearest record of what we’ve agreed. It sets out the eaves cupboard designed for your room, its materials and its finish, and the workshop works from it.

FAQs: loft storage in Brentham Garden Suburb
Do you cover homes near Ealing Broadway station?
Yes, homes across Ealing and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with some details about the room.
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Brentham Garden Suburb?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to tell us about parking at the measuring visit.
Which materials go into your loft storage?
The storage is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. Birch plywood gives strength to the carcasses and drawers, while the doors and panels are MDF, which paints well. The finish is spray-painted or hand-painted.
Will cupboards in the eaves stop air moving?
Not when it’s planned well. At the design visit we check what’s there and leave the space it needs. Insulation and ventilation work itself is not ours.
Is it possible to fit a wardrobe under the slope?
Yes. Bespoke wardrobes are made to the angle of the ceiling. The tall end takes hanging space, and the low end can hold shelves or drawers. It is scribed to the slope and walls.
Do you move sockets or add lighting?
No. Sockets, switches and lighting are for your electrician. We’ll design around them.
From workshop to your room
With the carcasses fixed and level, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled, scribed to the wall and levelled. Hand-painted furniture can be finished on site; spray-painted pieces arrive finished from the workshop. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.

What we don’t do
Some parts of a job need another trade, from an electrician to a plumber or a Gas Safe registered engineer. Here is what to bear in mind:
- Fixing damp or ventilation problems in the eaves
- Building work to turn a loft into a room
- Anything that needs Building Regulations sign-off

Bespoke loft storage or ready-made?
Off-the-shelf pieces come in the maker’s finishes. We paint the storage in the colour you choose, so it can match the walls and the woodwork. If a house has been extended or knocked through, the new walls and the old ones may not line up, and straight-sided ready-made units make that obvious. Fitted pieces are scribed to both.
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.
Why us?

- 300+ projects completed

How we price loft storage
A few things affect what fitted furniture costs:
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- Parking near your home
- The overall size of the piece
- The internal fittings
Rooms that are not square take more work: uneven walls, sloping floors and angled ceilings all add scribing and cutting on site. That is reflected in the quote, which we write after seeing the room.
What to send when you get in touch
These details help when you contact us:
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling

- Any ideas or images you’ve saved
To make a start, use our contact form and tell us a little about the room. From there, we arrange a design visit to measure up and talk through your ideas, and a quote in writing follows.
