About our loft storage in West Ealing
The low space behind a knee wall is often the most useful in the room. Cupboards and drawers set into the knee wall make that space useful. Drawers bring the back of the space within reach. We measure and plan for the space you have in West Ealing. If your home has nowhere to store bags and boxes and no wardrobe that fits under the slope, eaves cupboards made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted can solve it.
Hallways in period terraces are often long and narrow, with the stairs rising along one wall. A large share of the homes around West Ealing were built before 1919, so depth matters as much as width wherever storage goes. Even shallow storage can hold a lot without narrowing the way through.
The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If something isn’t quite right, tell us before anything is made.

What prompts loft storage in West Ealing
A dormer can feel like wasted space. Built-in furniture in a dormer puts it to work. It uses space that’s otherwise empty.
People typically get in touch with us about needs like these:
- A loft room that doubles as an office or guest room
- A new loft conversion that needs storage
- Nowhere to store bags and boxes
- An empty dormer that could hold shelves
If you live in a flat close to Hanwell station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room.
What to check before you book
- Whether the finish is set out in the quote
- How doors and drawers are fitted
- Can you see real work of theirs?
- Whether the route into your home has been checked
Loft storage for homes in West Ealing
Homes built before 1919 make up about 53% of the housing in the neighbourhood around West Ealing, with about 21% built since 2000, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. We take that into account at the measuring visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of West Ealing include Church of St Mary (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles north-west, and Church of St Mellitus (Grade II), less than half a mile east. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, like fixing into original panelling. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. More than half of the homes in the neighbourhood around West Ealing (about 53%) were built before 1919, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Many older terraces have had loft conversions, leaving eaves spaces and slopes that suit fitted storage.
Close to Drayton Green? Living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place. The wider area includes historic houses such as Pitzhanger Manor, about 1.4 miles east. For a period home anywhere nearby, the low eaves and slopes of a converted loft are worth using.

When you need someone else
We don’t treat damp or carry out building work, and there are a few other limits too:
- Anything that needs Building Regulations sign-off
- Adding or replacing insulation
- Building work to turn a loft into a room
If in doubt, you can fill in our short enquiry form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How it works.
What it’s made from
- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Hand-painted finish
- Sloped wardrobe tops
- Eaves doors and drawers
- Spray-painted finish
- Birch plywood
How it is made
Doors and drawer fronts
We make the fronts from moisture-resistant MDF and finish them in the colour you choose. Angled fronts are cut to follow the slope, keeping the lines neat.
Hand-painted finish
Hand painting on site lets the storage be finished alongside the woodwork around it. It’s easy to touch up later. Like any new paint, it needs time to cure fully.
FAQs: loft storage in West Ealing
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Hanwell station?
Yes, homes across Ealing and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Do you make loft storage for homes in West Ealing?
Yes. We cover all of Ealing and the rest of London, and West Ealing is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and go through the design, followed by a quote.
What are your eaves cupboards made from?
Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish. Stable materials suit a loft, where temperatures can vary. Your quote confirms the materials and finish.
My walls are not straight. Is that a problem?
Uneven walls are normal in older London homes, and the furniture is made to deal with them. We scribe the edges to follow the wall and set the furniture level on adjustable feet or a plinth.
What happens at the design visit?
We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and discuss the design with you. Access and parking are worth talking about too, and afterwards we send a quote in writing.
Do I need to be in when you fit?
We need someone to let us in. It is good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.
How fitting day works
In older rooms, the furniture normally has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site, so it looks as though it was always there. How long fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. On fitting day in an older house, the main job is scribing to walls and levelling on floors that slope, so each piece is trimmed and adjusted on site. We protect the floors and keep dust to a minimum. Parking can be tight on terraced streets, so tell us about permits and bays at the design visit.
- You get in touch and let us know about the loft and the stairs up to it.
- We visit to measure the loft and the way up, including the top flight and any tight turn.
- A quote in writing follows, covering the design, materials and finish.
- We build the storage in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, sized to get up to the loft.
- The sections go up the stairs, are assembled under the eaves and set level. The finish is sprayed in the workshop or hand-painted in the loft.
Before we arrive
- Keep pets in another room while we work
- Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
Arranging a design visit
The design visit is where every quote starts. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and talk through the design with you. Afterwards, we send a written quote, so you can take your time with it. To book one, fill in our short enquiry form.
Advice
What it costs
What you pay depends on:
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- The number of doors and drawers
- Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
Awkward rooms take more time: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. That is reflected in the quote, written once we have measured up.
What to send when you get in touch
Some details help us understand the job before we visit. When you contact us, it’s useful to send:
- Rough sizes, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Your postcode and the borough
- How you want to use the space
- Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
A quote begins with some details from you: which room it is, rough measurements and a couple of pictures if you can take them. When you are ready, message us from the contact page. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and talk through the design, then send a written quote.
