Loft storage in Pentonville, Islington
We make loft storage for homes in Pentonville, designed around the room you have. We design your eaves cupboard at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.
- A dormer that isn’t being used
- A boarded loft that’s hard to keep organised
- Low eaves that nobody can use
Loft storage designed for your room
Looking after your furniture
New paint needs time to cure fully, so treat it gently at first. After that, a few simple habits help:
- Bring paint colours you like to the design visit
- Count the clothes you will need to hang
- Think about what will go in each cupboard or drawer
- Empty the eaves so we can see what’s behind
Keep the ventilation behind the eaves clear. The storage is planned to keep airflow, so leave that space open. It helps prevent damp behind the storage.
Sharp edges and heavy boxes can chip a painted edge. Store tools in a box, not loose against the doors. A small chip on a hand-painted finish is easy to touch in.
Loft storage in Pentonville
A loft room can hold a great deal of storage, if the low spaces are used well. Our loft storage includes eaves cupboards, knee-wall drawers, wardrobes under sloping ceilings and dormer shelving, all made for the shape of the room. In Pentonville, as everywhere we work, it begins with a visit to measure and plan. We make eaves cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and the usual reasons to get in touch are furniture that can’t get up to the loft and low eaves that nobody can use.
Around Pentonville, most households live in purpose-built flats, and blocks often have rules on lifts, deliveries and when work can happen. It is useful to check them with the managing agent before fitting day. A lease can require consent for fixing to walls, so check yours first.
The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If something is not quite right, tell us before anything is made.

Why bespoke in Pentonville?
If you only need a few boxes in a boarded loft, standalone shelving may be enough. A fitted design earns its place in a loft room you live in. We’ll give you an honest view at the measuring visit. Whether the ceilings are tall or low, standard heights rarely match them, which wastes the space above. Fitted furniture runs to the ceiling.
The finish affects the cost: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.
Why choose us
- Saturday visits and fitting by arrangement
- Every London borough and the City of London covered

Common questions about loft storage
My home in Pentonville is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
We measure the route in not just the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Eaves cupboards are built in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. It is useful to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.
Will a conservation area stop me having loft storage fitted in Pentonville?
Normally not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, changes inside that alter its character can need listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you are unsure, the council can confirm.
My walls are not straight. Is that a problem?
That’s normal in older homes, and it’s what scribing is for. Edges are scribed to the wall, and adjustable feet or a plinth bring the furniture up to level.
What materials do you use for loft storage?
Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish. Both are stable, which matters in a loft room. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.
How is loft storage priced?
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. It depends on how much storage you want, the shape of the room and the finish. To get a quote, tell us about the room on our contact form and we will arrange a design visit.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
There are two options: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. Your quote sets out which you’ve chosen.
How it is made
Plinths and scribe strips
The floor in a loft room is rarely perfectly level. A plinth or adjustable feet let us set the storage level, so the doors and drawers run true.
Pull-out drawers
Drawers in the knee wall let you use the deep, low space without crawling in. We size each drawer for what you plan to keep in it. They’re ideal for clothes and bedding.
How we price loft storage
There’s no set price, because there’s no set room. The things that affect it are:
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- How big the furniture is
- Spray painting or hand painting
- The number of doors and drawers
Access to the room makes a difference too. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections, and that is part of the price. There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space.
Before the design visit
When you contact us, these help most:
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
- Rough sizes, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Examples of the look you’re after
- Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, when we have measured up and talked through the design. For a quote, tell us about the room on our contact form.
Loft storage in Pentonville: local notes
The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Pentonville were built before 1919 (about 35%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 23%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Near the centre of Pentonville, Historic England’s list includes Sadler House (Grade II*), less than half a mile south, and Wells House (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles south. For a listed home, changes inside that alter its character can require listed building consent from the council, for instance removing or fixing into original panelling. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. The Ultra Low Emission Zone has covered all of London since it reached the outer boroughs on 29 August 2023. So any van that delivers or fits furniture in Pentonville is covered by it. Access and parking are talked through during the design visit.
For a flat near Essex Road station, the route in is measured as well as the room, and the sections are sized to fit it. If your children go to St John Evangelist RC Primary School or a school nearby, eaves cupboards can give school bags, shoes and sports kit a proper home. If you live near Barnard Park, eaves cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things.

What happens on fitting day
You won’t need to do much on the day. We need someone to let us in at the start, and it helps to have the room cleared beforehand, as agreed during the design visit. After that, it’s over to us: the floors are covered, the sections come in and the fitting begins. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. In a block without a lift, every section goes up the stairs, so it’s sized to be manageable. The stair turns and landings set the limit. Once inside, the sections are joined and fixed.
- You get in touch and describe the loft room, its slopes and any dormer.
- We visit to measure the slopes and eaves and talk through cupboards, drawers and wardrobes under them.
- Your written quote sets out the storage and the finish.
- In our workshop we build each section from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood to follow the slope.
- On fitting day the units are set level and scribed to the slope and the knee wall, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Before fitting day
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
