TV and media units for your home in Bedford Park

FAQs: TV and media units in Bedford Park

I live near South Acton station. Is that in your area?

Yes. We cover all of Ealing and the rest of London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with a few details about the room.

My house in Bedford Park is Victorian. Can you deal with uneven walls?

Yes, that’s normal in older houses: each piece is scribed to the wall and levelled at the base. Skirting, picture rails and cornices are met neatly or cut around. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether solid brick or lath and plaster.

How do you stop equipment overheating in a TV unit?

We plan ventilation into the unit for boxes, consoles and amplifiers, using open backs, gaps or vented doors. We give each box its own space, and it is worth checking the maker’s guidance on clearances.

Can a built-in unit hide all the wires?

We plan cable routes through the unit from the start, with access panels for later changes. Where the cables meet the wall depends on where the sockets are, so it is useful to plan sockets with your electrician.

Should I send photos?

Yes, they help. Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling, give us a good idea of the space, particularly with rough sizes. To send them, get in touch through our contact form.

Who moves the sockets for a built-in TV wall?

We do not do electrical work. Your electrician handles sockets and wiring. We share the layout so the sockets line up with the design.

About our TV and media units in Bedford Park

Where the TV will be wall-mounted, the unit is designed around where the bracket goes and the cable route behind it. If it stands on the unit, we size the top to suit. If you’re living with a tangle of wires behind the TV and nowhere good for speakers, that is what TV and media units are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.

Victorian and Edwardian houses were built with solid brick outside walls, while the walls inside can be brick or lath and plaster. Since a large share of the homes around Bedford Park date from before 1919, we check which you have before deciding how TV and media units are fixed. Lath and plaster needs a lighter touch and the right fixings, particularly behind loaded shelves.

The written quote is your record of the job. It sets out the TV unit designed for your room, what it’s made from and how it’s finished, and the workshop works from it.

Built-in living-room furniture in Bedford Park

The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Bedford Park were built before 1919 (about 55%) and since 2000 (about 20%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. The National Heritage List has 216 entries within half a mile of the centre of Bedford Park. Older homes nearby may have original joinery, shutters or panelling worth keeping, and the furniture can be designed around them rather than over them. The Ultra Low Emission Zone has covered all of London since it reached the outer boroughs on 29 August 2023. Vans bringing furniture to Bedford Park fall under it, just as they do across the rest of London. Access and parking are talked through at the design visit.

Close to Turnham Green? A room that looks out on trees deserves a design that leaves the window alone. For families living near Southfield Primary School, low doors that small hands can open, with books and ornaments higher up, suit a busy family room. If your home is one of the older houses near St Peter's, the alcoves beside a chimney breast are the natural place for TV and media units.

Flats, conversions and lettings

In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of, which we check at the design visit.

For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants. An agent can arrange access for you, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.

What affects the price in Bedford Park

To work out the quote, we look at:

  • Parking near your home
  • The width and height of the space
  • How square the room is
  • The finish: spray painted or hand painted

Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay near your home. Tell us about parking at the measuring visit, so it can be planned.

What we need to know

Ahead of the design visit, we will typically ask about:

  • Rough sizes: width, height and depth
  • How you want to use the space
  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
  • Pictures of styles you like, if you have any

To get a quote for TV and media units in Bedford Park, fill in our short enquiry form. Let us know the room and the rough idea. We will arrange a design visit, then send a written quote.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

Not every bought cabinet allows enough air for warm equipment. We plan ventilation for boxes, consoles and amplifiers. Chimney breasts in older houses stand out by different amounts, so the recesses either side are rarely the same, and standard units bought as a pair rarely suit both. Each side can be made to its own size.

We do not publish set prices, because every piece is designed for one room. Instead, we measure, discuss the design and then quote in writing, naming the materials and finish. To arrange a design visit, get in touch through our contact form.

How fitting day works

Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the TV wall and what it needs to hold, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Hallways in period houses are often narrow, and the stairs turn sharply, so TV and media units are made in sections sized to get through. Floors and stair carpets are protected on the way in and out, and the sections are joined and scribed in the room.

  1. You send us a note about the room and the unit you’d like.
  2. At the design visit we agree the layout and talk about colour and finish.
  3. A written quote follows, with the finish set out.
  4. The unit is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF, which takes paint well, and birch plywood.
  5. We fit it in your home; a hand-painted finish is applied once it is in and is easy to touch up later. Go gently with new paintwork while it cures.

Before we arrive

  • If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
  • Let us know about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
  • Make sure pets are kept safely away
