FAQs: walk-in wardrobes in Loxford

Do you make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Loxford?

Yes, Loxford is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Redbridge and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and talk through the design, and then we send a quote.

Do you cover homes near Barking station?

Yes. We cover all of Redbridge and the rest of London. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with a few details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

Do I choose the paint colour?

The choice is yours. Whichever finish you pick, it’s in the colour you have chosen.

Is it better to have doors or open storage?

It’s your choice. Doors give a tidy look and help keep dust away, and open storage makes things quick to find. A mix of the two is common.

How long does fitting take?

How long fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and your quote sets out the fitting days. We will talk it through at the measuring visit.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

We need someone to let us in. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.

Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Loxford

Our walk-in wardrobes are made for homes in Loxford and all over London. We begin with a design visit, measuring the room and talking through the design, then a written quote. Once agreed, we make the units in our workshop and fit them in your home. How long fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. We make walk-in wardrobes from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed, and the things people most often want solved are hanging for coats, dresses and shirts and proper shoe storage.

The positions of the window, the radiator and the door shape a bedroom more than its size. Whatever kind of home you have in Loxford, we start there, then plan fitted furniture on the walls that are left. Nothing is built tight over a radiator, so the heat still reaches the room.

The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it is easier before the furniture is made.

Practical tips

New paint needs time to cure fully, so treat it gently at first. Beyond that, these tips help:

  • Decide on doors or open storage before we measure
  • Leave room for air behind hanging clothes
  • Have damp sorted before fitting
  • Give the paint time to cure fully

Once the units are fitted, the paint needs time to cure fully. Treat the doors and drawer fronts gently at first, and wipe them with a soft, damp cloth.

A new partition wall is building work, so it comes before us. We make and fit the units inside.

Pricing walk-in wardrobes in Loxford

When we put a quote together, we consider:

  • The width and height of the space
  • Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
  • Doors and drawers, and how many

The finish affects the cost: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

Helping us understand the room

To help us picture the room, please include:

  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
  • Rough sizes, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
  • The type of home and how the room is reached
  • Examples of the look you’re after

You don’t need exact measurements to get started. We measure everything properly at the measuring visit. To arrange it, message us from the contact page. You receive a quote in writing after the visit.

Hanging rails

Hanging rails can be set for long or double hanging to suit your clothes.

Hand-painted finish

A hand-painted finish can be done on site, once the units are fitted. It is easy to touch up later.

Walk-in wardrobes in Loxford: local notes

In the area around Loxford, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 39%) and the years since 2000 (about 24%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Loxford include Barking Station Booking Hall (Grade II), about 0.6 miles south. Listing covers the inside of a building as well as the outside, so works that affect a listed home’s character, like removing original joinery, can need listed building consent. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. The ULEZ, run by TfL, takes in all of London, so Redbridge is inside it. So any van that delivers or fits furniture in Loxford is covered by it. How the van gets to your door is planned during the design visit.

Close to Loxford Park? Morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they will not shade the window. For families living near Woodlands Primary School, walk-in wardrobes in a child’s room can be planned so the inside layout changes as they grow. For an older house near St Luke's Church, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design.

Fitting day, step by step

The last stage of the day is the finish. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; hand painting, if that is what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. We measure the hall, stairs, doors and any lift along with the room itself, so walk-in wardrobes arrive in sections that fit through. We cover floors and doorways on the way in.

  1. You tell us about the room and what you want to store, from long coats to shoes.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room and plan the hanging, shelves and drawers.
  3. A quote follows, setting out the design and finish.
  4. We build everything in our workshop.
  5. We fit the walk-in wardrobe in your home, scribed to the walls and set level.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Clear the area where the furniture is going
  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
  • Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture

Arranging a design visit

We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, once the room is measured and the design talked through. To arrange a visit, send us a few details through our contact form.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

Where bespoke earns its keep is in rooms that aren’t square. Older London rooms tend to have leaning walls, sloping floors and alcoves of different widths, which leaves standard units with gaps at the sides and top.

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
