Ilford Walk-in Wardrobes

In Ilford, we design walk-in wardrobes around the room you actually have. We design your walk-in wardrobe at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.

How we make walk-in wardrobes for Ilford

You can have doors, open storage or a mix. Doors keep dust off and give a calm look, and open rails make it quick to find things. The choice is yours, and we will go through it when we measure. Typical reasons to get in touch are a dressing table with drawers and a mirror and separate space for two people’s clothes, and the answer is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.

Ceilings in homes built before 1919 are often tall, and a large share of the homes around Ilford date from then. That height can be used, with fitted furniture taken up to the cornice and top cupboards for occasional things. Original mouldings are worked around rather than removed.

After the design visit, we send you a quote in writing. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish, so it is clear what’s included.

Why bespoke in Ilford?

If you’re likely to move soon, standalone furniture you can take with you may suit better. How long you’ll stay is worth weighing up before choosing fitted. Ready-made pieces are proportioned for newer homes and can look lost in an older one, whereas fitted pieces can pick up the room’s height and mouldings.

No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

Why choose us

  • A spray or hand-painted finish
  • Saturdays by prior arrangement
  • Designed for the room you have
  • We visit, measure and go through the design before we quote

Questions from Ilford

Do you make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Ilford?

Yes, Ilford is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Redbridge and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and discuss the design, and then we send a quote.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Ilford station?

Yes, homes across Redbridge and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

Can you add sockets inside the units?

No. Electrical work is not something we do; it is a job for your electrician. We can allow for cable routes in the design, and any new sockets are best done before fitting day.

Do you work on Saturdays?

Yes, by arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you contact us.

Do I choose the paint colour?

You choose it. Whichever finish you pick, it is in the colour you have chosen.

Do I need permission to fit furniture in a leasehold flat?

Possibly. It depends on your lease, and some need consent for alterations. We can’t give advice on your lease, so it’s worth checking before fitting day.

What affects the price in Ilford

Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. What affects it comes down to:

  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
  • How square the room is
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
  • The number of doors and drawers

We don’t publish set prices, because every piece is designed for one room. Instead, we measure, discuss the design and then quote in writing, with the materials and finish set out. To start, drop us a line using the contact form.

What to send when you get in touch

Getting a few details early makes the visit more useful. Where you can, include:

  • Rough measurements: width, height and depth
  • Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
  • What the furniture needs to hold
  • Where you live, with the postcode

If you already have something in mind, tell us; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To arrange a visit, fill in our short enquiry form.

What happens on fitting day

On the morning of the fitting, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. Next, we carry in the sections built in our workshop, a piece at a time. How long fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. In houses converted into flats, the route in may include a shared hall and stairs, so it helps to let neighbours know about fitting day. Each section is sized for the tightest door or turn. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. First, you let us know about the space and how you dress.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room and talk through hanging, shelves and drawers, with shoe storage and a dressing table if you’d like them.
  3. You get a quote in writing for the design we’ve agreed.
  4. We build the carcasses, drawers and shelves in our workshop.
  5. We bring everything to your home and fit it to the room. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
  • Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone

Ask for a quote

Tips worth knowing

Looking after painted furniture is simple. A few things help it stay looking good:

  • Make sure walls are dry before units go in
  • Think about long versus double hanging
  • Sort through your clothes before the design visit
  • Count your shoes before the design visit

Store heavy things on lower shelves and spread the weight along the rails. That keeps the hanging and shelves in good shape.

If you live in a leasehold flat, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. Your lease is something to check with whoever manages the building.
