The problems walk-in wardrobes solve

Some people want a calmer bedroom. Moving clothes into a separate space leaves the bedroom simpler and quieter to look at.

A few of the things people ask us to solve include:

  • A walk-in wardrobe in a box room
  • Setting aside a corner of a large bedroom
  • Long and double hanging planned around your clothes
  • Storage for clothes that have outgrown the wardrobe

The wider area includes historic houses like Bruce Castle, about 0.8 miles south-west. If your own home is a period one, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where walk-in wardrobes go.

Before you choose who makes it

  • Which materials they’ll use, named in the quote
  • How they handle walls that are not straight
  • Will the doors close with even gaps?
  • A quote in writing that sets out the job

Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Northumberland Park

A walk-in wardrobe gives your clothes a room of their own. It can be a spare room, a box room or part of a bedroom, with hanging rails, shelving and drawers planned around what you own. Everything is built in our workshop and fitted to the room, scribed to the walls and set level. People usually come to us about more space for clothes and shoes and room for two wardrobes in one space, and the answer is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.

Where the window, radiator and door sit decides most of a bedroom layout. For any home in Northumberland Park, those are the first things we note at the measuring visit, then plan fitted furniture on the walls that are left. Nothing is built tight over a radiator, so the heat still reaches the room.

You get the quote in writing, so there’s time to read it properly. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

How fitting day works

When we arrive on fitting day, we start by protecting your floors and the route from the front door to the room. The sections made in our workshop come in next. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Before fitting day, we check the route in as well as the room, so the furniture comes in sections sized for the route. We cover floors and doorways on the way in.

  1. You get in touch and let us know about your clothes, shoes and bags and how you get ready.
  2. We visit to measure up and work out the layout inside, including any dressing table.
  3. You receive a written quote for the walk-in wardrobe.
  4. We build the carcasses, shelves and drawers in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the units in your home, then put in the rails, shelves and drawers at the heights we agreed.

How to prepare

  • Make sure pets are kept safely away
  • Clear the area where the furniture is going
  • Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area

Getting a quote

Pictures help us understand the room before we visit. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line tell us a lot about the space. To send them over, get in touch through our contact form, and we’ll suggest a time for a design visit.

What affects the cost of walk-in wardrobes

Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. These are the things that affect it:

  • The internal fittings
  • Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
  • The overall size of the piece
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

Before the design visit

Before the design visit, it helps us to know about:

  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
  • Any ideas or images you’ve saved
  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on

To get a quote for walk-in wardrobes in Northumberland Park, message us from the contact page. Tell us which room it is and roughly what you have in mind. We will arrange a design visit, then send a written quote.

Common questions about walk-in wardrobes

Do you cover homes near Northumberland Park (London) station?

Yes. We cover all of Haringey and the rest of London. You can tell us about the room on our contact form to arrange a design visit.

I live in a flat in Northumberland Park. How will the furniture get up the stairs?

At the design visit, we measure the way in as well as the room. Walk-in wardrobes are made at our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.

What does a walk-in wardrobe cost?

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. A box room with rails and shelves and a full dressing room with drawers and a dressing table are very different jobs, so we quote once we’ve measured. To arrange a visit, message us from the contact page.

Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?

External walls can be colder and damper than internal ones, so ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps to avoid condensation. Any damp needs sorting by the right specialist before fitting.

Do I need to be at home on fitting day?

Someone needs to let us in. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.

Do pictures help?

Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit. It helps to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.

Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Northumberland Park

In the streets around Northumberland Park, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 35%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 20%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. There is a conservation area within about a quarter of a mile of the centre of Northumberland Park, according to Historic England’s records. Planning controls in conservation areas are mainly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitting furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need permission. If in doubt, the council’s planning team can confirm. Each London borough runs its own parking controls, and Haringey is no exception. If parking near you is controlled, a visitor permit or a bay suspension may be needed, and the council arranges suspensions, often with notice. We ask about parking at the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.

If you live in a period home close to St Paul's Church, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design. Near listed buildings like Percy House, under half a mile west of the centre of Northumberland Park, older homes may keep original joinery that walk-in wardrobes can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can require listed building consent.
