Northumberland Park Loft Storage

We make loft storage for homes in Northumberland Park, designed around the room you have. We design your eaves cupboard at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.

  • Ready-made wardrobes too big for the stairs
  • A converted loft with no fitted furniture
  • A dormer that is not being used

Loft storage for your home in Northumberland Park

Loft storage for homes in Northumberland Park

A dormer can take shelves, a desk or a window seat. Their sides are often angled, and their walls rarely straight. Each piece is scribed to the dormer. It adds storage without taking up the main floor. We will go through the options in Northumberland Park. Typical reasons to get in touch are a loft room that doubles as an office or guest room and a new loft conversion that needs storage, and the answer is made in our workshop from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.

A deep cupboard can lose things at the back, so the design uses drawers, lids or shelves to bring things within reach. Whatever kind of home you have in Northumberland Park, the right answer depends on the depth and the height. Any meters, fuse board or boiler keep the access they need.

The quote names the materials: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

Making use of awkward spaces in Northumberland Park

About 35% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Northumberland Park went up before 1919, and about 20% between 1945 and 1972, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Near the centre of Northumberland Park, Historic England’s list includes Percy House (Grade II*), under half a mile west, and Dial House (Grade II*), less than half a mile west. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, like fixing into original panelling. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. About 45% of households in the streets around Northumberland Park live in purpose-built flats, according to Census 2021. In a block, each section is sized to get up the stairs or into the lift and through the door. Building management rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours are worth checking early.

If you live near Bruce Castle Park, living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place. For an older house near St Paul's Church, the low eaves and slopes of a converted loft are worth using. If you live in a flat close to Northumberland Park (London) station, check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in.

Northumberland Park is about 1 mile south-west of Tottenham, in the London Borough of Haringey. Northumberland Park is part of the area we cover, and the process is the same everywhere we work. Our work takes in places right across Haringey.

Could you do it yourself?

It’s worth being honest about cost: off-the-shelf furniture typically costs less up front. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is awkward, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. Off-the-shelf furniture cannot usually do that in an older room.

Fitting day, step by step

With the carcasses fixed and level, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. How long fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and your quote sets out the fitting days. It’s useful to clear the room and the route in before fitting day, including anything on the walls near the work. Floors and doorways are protected before anything comes in. Then the sections come in and are joined in place.

  1. You contact us about storage in your converted loft.
  2. At the design visit we plan the storage and measure the stairs, landings and loft doorway.
  3. We send a quote in writing.
  4. We build the storage in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, sized to get up to the loft.
  5. We carry the sections up, join them in the room and scribe them to fit.

Preparing the room

  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
  • Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to

How to get a quote

A quote begins with a few details from you: the room, rough measurements and some photos if you have them. When you are ready, drop us a line using the contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and discuss the design, then send a written quote.

Advice

Questions from Northumberland Park

Is Northumberland Park in the area you cover for loft storage?

Yes, we work across Haringey, Northumberland Park included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with some details.

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Northumberland Park?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.

Does eaves storage affect the insulation?

Not when it’s planned well. We look behind the knee wall at the design visit and plan the storage so air can still move. Insulation and ventilation work itself isn’t ours.

Do I need permission in a conservation area?

Not normally. Conservation areas mostly control changes to the outside, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.

What do eaves cupboards cost?

Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Drawers in the knee wall normally involve more work than simple cupboards, and the finish matters too. Everything is set out in a written quote after the visit.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

Someone needs to be there to let us in. After that, you do not need to stay in the room.

What affects the price in Northumberland Park

What you pay depends on:

  • Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • The overall size of the piece
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square

How it is painted is part of the price: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.

Helping us understand the room

You don’t need exact measurements or a plan. It’s enough to send:

  • Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
  • A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
  • Rough measurements: width, height and depth

The quote is built from the design visit. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and talk through the design with you. Afterwards, we send a written quote. To arrange the visit, message us from the contact page.

Is bespoke worth it?

Loft walls are rarely straight, and floors are often out of level. Ready-made pieces show the gaps. We scribe our storage to the slopes and walls, and set it level. Walls and floors are seldom perfectly flat in any home, so standalone furniture can lean or leave gaps. Fitted furniture is scribed and levelled on site.

There is no price list, because every piece is designed for one room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a quote in writing, with the materials and finish set out. To start, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Why us?

  • Saturday work by prior arrangement
  • Built around your room
  • Fitted tight to walls that are not straight
  • Built from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood

What loft storage can’t fix

Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, so these points are worth knowing:

  • Insulation or ventilation work behind the eaves
  • Any wiring, which needs an electrician
  • Building work to turn a loft into a room

If in doubt, you can tell us about the room on our contact form and describe the room. Our process from visit to fitting.
