Questions we are often asked
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Sutton (London) station?
Yes. We cover the whole of London. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Can you make walk-in wardrobes for a home in Sutton?
Yes. We cover the whole of London, all 32 boroughs and the City of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.
What happens when you come to measure?
We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We look at the walls, floors and anything the furniture has to work around, then send a written quote.
Do I need permission in a conservation area?
Usually not. Fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission, even in a conservation area. If the building is listed, works affecting its character may need listed building consent.
Is ventilation important in a dressing room?
Yes. Air needs to circulate around stored clothes, particularly against a cooler external wall. We allow for ventilation in the design.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You choose it. The paint colour is agreed with you, and it is set out in the quote.
How we make walk-in wardrobes for Sutton
You can have doors, open storage or a mix. Doors keep dust off and give a calm look, and open rails make it quick to find things. The choice is yours, and we will go through it when we measure. If your home has hanging for coats, dresses and shirts and moving wardrobes out of the bedroom, walk-in wardrobes made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish can solve it.
If your bedroom is in a period house, expect uneven walls and tall ceilings; in a newer flat, expect plasterboard and a lower ceiling. Your home in Sutton could be either, or something in between. Each is measured and fitted in its own way. Ceiling height sets how tall the furniture can go.
The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If something is not quite right, tell us before anything is made.

How fitting day works
Before anything is fixed, we set the furniture level. Where the floor slopes, we bring the furniture up to level on adjustable feet or a plinth, which keeps the lines straight. After that, it’s fixed to the wall using fixings that suit the wall, whether that’s solid brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. We measure the hall, stairs, doors and any lift along with the room itself, so walk-in wardrobes arrive in sections that fit through. Floors and doorways are protected while the pieces come in.
- To begin, get in touch through our contact form; a brief note on the room and what it needs to store is plenty.
- At the design visit we measure the room and plan hanging lengths, shelves, drawers and shoe storage with you.
- A quote in writing follows, setting out the layout, materials and finish.
- The units are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the units in your home, then put in the rails, shelves and drawers at the heights we agreed.
How to prepare
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
Getting a quote
We quote once we’ve seen the room. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, then send a written quote. Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. To arrange a visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders
If your building is on a red route or a busy main road, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so tell us about it at the design visit.
Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. If there’s a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Mention it when you get in touch.

What else we make in Sutton
Why bespoke in Sutton?
Modular units are made in fixed sizes, so the space above and at the ends is often wasted. A bespoke design can run to the ceiling and fill the walls, which can add a lot of storage. Gaps behind, beside and above ready-made furniture collect dust, and fitted furniture closes them.
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. A larger piece means more material and more time, so size is the starting point. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.
Why us?
- Scribed to uneven walls
- Built in our workshop and fitted in your home
- Saturday visits and fitting by prior arrangement
- Made for your room, not a standard size

The problems walk-in wardrobes solve
Some want somewhere to sit and get ready. A dressing table with drawers and a mirror can sit within a walk-in wardrobe, close to the clothes and shoes.
If you recognise any of these, it is worth talking to us:
- Room for a growing wardrobe
- A dressing table with drawers and a mirror
- A walk-in wardrobe in a box room
- A calmer, clearer bedroom
If you live near Manor Park, a bedroom facing the green is best kept light, with the furniture on the side walls.
Choosing a carpenter
- Whether they measure the room themselves
- How the furniture will be finished, and where
- How doors and drawers are fitted
- Real projects you can actually look at
What walk-in wardrobes can’t fix
It’s worth being clear about where our work stops:
- Lighting and wiring, which are for your electrician
- Structural changes or removing walls
- Getting consent under your lease
Not sure whether your space suits walk-in wardrobes? You can message us from the contact page and we’ll tell you. Our process from visit to fitting.

Bedrooms in Sutton: local notes
About 25% of the homes in the streets around Sutton went up between 1973 and 1999, and about 22% between 1945 and 1972, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. That matters for walk-in wardrobes, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. There are 16 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Sutton. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. Red routes are run by TfL, with tight limits on where and when vehicles can stop. If you live on or close to a main road in Sutton, let us know during the design visit. That way we can plan where to load and unload.
If your home is one of the older houses near St Nicholas Church, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where walk-in wardrobes go. Near listed buildings like Church of St Nicholas, less than half a mile south of the centre of Sutton, older homes may keep original joinery that walk-in wardrobes can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features may need listed building consent.
Sutton is one of London’s 33 local authority areas. We work across all London boroughs and the City of London, and Sutton is part of that. Our work takes in places right across the rest of London, from the busiest high streets to quiet residential roads.
Design visits and fitting in SM1, SM2, SM3 and SM7 work the same way as everywhere else we cover. We cover homes on streets like High Street, Manor Place and St Nicholas Way, for walk-in wardrobes and any of our other fitted furniture. Sutton sits close to the B2230, and we plan where the van can stop before fitting day. If you are just outside Sutton, we also cover Benhilton (1 mile north), Carshalton (1 mile east), Shanklin Village (1 mile south), St Helier (1 mile north) and Rosehill (1 mile north). Other parts of the rest of London we cover include Wallington (2 miles east), Bandonhill (3 miles east), Beddington (3 miles east), Roundshaw (3 miles east), Russell Hill (3 miles east) and Woodcote Green (3 miles south-east).
