Walk-in wardrobes in Tottenham Hale, Haringey
Planning walk-in wardrobes for a home in Tottenham Hale? We start with a design visit and a written quote.
- More space for clothes and shoes
- A use for a small spare room
- A calmer, clearer bedroom
Need walk-in wardrobes in Tottenham Hale?
Flat-pack or bespoke?
Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. That’s something we plan for in the design.
Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there’s usually a gap left over at the top or at one end. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.
Walk-in wardrobes in Tottenham Hale: what you get
A walk-in wardrobe can also be part of a bedroom. A corner or one end of a large bedroom can become a dressing area, either open to the room or behind doors. Building a new stud partition is building work, so that’s for your builder, and we fit the furniture inside. People normally come to us about shelves for shoes and bags and turning a box room into a dressing room; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
Many newer homes have tall windows or full-height glazing in the bedroom, so the remaining walls have to work harder. That’s worth planning for around Tottenham Hale, where many homes date from 2000 onwards, so we make the most of the walls you have. Corners are designed in rather than left as dead space.
We write quotes in plain English. You will see what will be made, the boards used and the finish, all taken from the design visit.

Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Tottenham Hale

For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. 6 conservation areas have at least part of their area less than a mile from the middle of Tottenham Hale. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Purpose-built flats are more common around Tottenham Hale than across Haringey: about 52% of households, against about 35%, in the ONS Census 2021 figures. So the route in, from stairs to lifts, is part of the design.
For families living near Ferry Lane Primary School, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller. Living in a block of flats near Tottenham Hale station? Then it helps to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day. The wider area includes historic houses such as Bruce Castle, about 1 mile north-west. If your own home is a period one, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design.

What it is made from
Spray-painted finish

Hanging rails
We plan rails for full-length garments and for double hanging, based on what you wear.
Your questions about walk-in wardrobes in Tottenham Hale
I live in a flat in Tottenham Hale. How will the furniture get up the stairs?
We measure the route in not just the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Walk-in wardrobes are made at our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.
Is parking a problem for fitting in Tottenham Hale?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It’s useful to let us know about parking at the measuring visit, so the day can be planned around it.
Who chooses the colour?
The choice is yours, and it’s agreed with you before painting. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you’ve chosen.
Do I need permission in a conservation area?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, and furniture inside a house does not normally need it. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.
How are walk-in wardrobes priced?
Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Size, fittings and finish all affect the price. For a design visit, get in touch through our contact form.
Is ventilation important in a dressing room?
Yes, it helps avoid condensation and mould. The design allows air to circulate, and any damp on the walls should be sorted before fitting.
Honest limits
Not everything around walk-in wardrobes is carpentry, such as an electrician, a plumber or a Gas Safe engineer. Here is what to bear in mind:
- Fixing the cause of damp
- Getting consent under your lease
- Building a new partition wall

From workshop to your room
Getting everything level comes first. Where the floor slopes, we bring the furniture up to level on adjustable feet or a plinth, and that keeps the doors and shelves true. Only then is it fixed to the wall, with fixings chosen to suit brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Newer homes often have stud walls, so on fitting day heavy pieces go into the studs or stand on the floor. Floors are covered while we work.
- To begin, drop us a line using the contact form; a brief note on the room and what it needs to store is plenty.
- At the design visit we measure the room and plan hanging lengths, shelves, drawers and shoe storage with you.
- A written quote follows, setting out the layout, materials and finish.
- We build the carcasses, shelves and drawers in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the units in your home, then put in the rails, shelves and drawers at the heights we agreed.
Before we arrive
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
