Walk-in wardrobes in Tottenham Green: what you get

Most designs start with the hanging. Full-length hanging takes coats, dresses and long garments, and two rails stacked one above the other suit shirts, jackets and trousers. We plan the mix around what you actually wear. Most enquiries start with a walk-in wardrobe in a box room and storage for clothes that have outgrown the wardrobe; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.

With a large share of homes around Tottenham Green built before 1919, many bedrooms sit against solid brick external walls. Cold external walls can lead to condensation, so ventilation behind and inside the furniture is part of the design. Smaller back bedrooms in houses of that age are good places for walk-in wardrobes.

After the design visit, we send you a written quote. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Bedrooms in Tottenham Green: local notes

About 47% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Tottenham Green went up before 1919, and about 19% since 2000, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how walk-in wardrobes are fixed and fitted. Near the centre of Tottenham Green, Historic England’s list includes Parish Church of St Ann (Grade II*), about 0.6 miles south-west, and Tottenham Town Hall (Grade II), under half a mile north. Listing covers the inside of a building as well as the outside, so works that affect a listed home’s character, like removing original joinery, can require listed building consent. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. The Ultra Low Emission Zone has covered all of London since it reached the outer boroughs on 29 August 2023. Vans bringing furniture to Tottenham Green fall under it, just as they do across the rest of London. Access and parking are talked through at the design visit.

For a family home near Earlsmead Primary School, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller. Bruce Castle, about 0.9 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design. If you live near Chestnuts Park, walk-in wardrobes are normally planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay.

FAQs: walk-in wardrobes in Tottenham Green

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Seven Sisters station?

Yes, homes across Haringey and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can send us a few details through our contact form with a few details about the room.

Do you make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Tottenham Green?

Yes. Tottenham Green is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Haringey and London. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit.

Do I get to choose the colour?

The choice is yours, and it is agreed with you before painting. Whichever finish you pick, it’s in the colour you have chosen.

Is a box room big enough for a walk-in wardrobe?

Often, yes. The layout depends on the room, the door and the window, so we work it out when we measure.

Do you work on Saturdays?

Yes, we can arrange Saturdays. Let us know when you first get in touch, and we’ll see what we can do.

Can you build a dressing area in my bedroom?

Yes. A run of units can define a dressing area, and we fit the furniture once any building work is done.

Fitting day, step by step

The last stage of the day is the finish. With a spray finish from the workshop, there’s normally only filling and touching up to do in the room; hand painting, if that’s what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. If your hall still has its original tiles or boards, they’re covered before any carrying starts. Drilling into lath and plaster is done with care, so the plaster around stays sound. Any decorating around the new pieces is for your decorator.

  1. We start with the space and the clothes it needs to hold, from long coats to shoes.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room and plan the hanging, shelves and drawers.
  3. We send a quote in writing with the design, materials and finish.
  4. The units are made and finished in our workshop.
  5. Fitting day: the units are fitted and trimmed to the room.

Advice

Flat-pack or bespoke?

If you are handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, where scribing and fixings that suit the wall are important.

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. Off-the-shelf furniture can’t typically do that in an older room.

Pricing walk-in wardrobes in Tottenham Green

Several things affect the price:

  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
  • The width and height of the space
  • The number of doors and drawers

The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. We’ll talk through what you need inside at the design visit.

Helping us understand the room

To give us a picture of the room, it is useful to include:

  • Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
  • Rough sizes: width, height and depth
  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, when we have measured up and talked through the design. For a quote, drop us a line using the contact form.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. An agent can arrange access for you, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.

In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of.
