How we make loft storage for Tottenham Hale

Dormers are a natural place for shelving or a small desk. Their sides are often angled, and their walls rarely straight. We scribe the furniture to follow them. It adds storage without taking up the main floor. At the design visit in Tottenham Hale, we’ll look at what fits. People normally come to us about ready-made wardrobes too big for the stairs and a loft room that doubles as an office or guest room; the furniture is made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.

Newer homes tend to have finished floors that scratch easily, so they’re protected while storage is fitted. Around Tottenham Hale, many homes date from 2000 onwards, and their plasterboard walls need fixings into the studs or made for the board. The storage can sit on its own plinth or be scribed over the skirting.

If the job needs another trade, like an electrician or a plumber, we will tell you, so it can be arranged before fitting day. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

What affects the price in Tottenham Hale

There’s no set price, because there’s no set room. The things that affect it are:

  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
  • The internal fittings
  • How many doors and drawers there are
  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room

Tricky rooms take more time: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. That’s reflected in the quote, written once we have measured up.

Getting in touch

To give us a picture of the room, it is useful to include:

  • How you want to use the space
  • The type of home and how the room is reached
  • Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
  • Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres

Photos help us understand the room before we visit. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line tell us a lot about the space, especially with rough measurements. To share them, drop us a line using the contact form, and we’ll suggest a time for a design visit.

The problems loft storage solve

Some people want to hide clutter in the eaves. Eaves cupboards keep them out of sight. It keeps the room tidy.

If you recognise any of these, it’s worth talking to us:

  • No wardrobe that fits under the slope
  • A converted loft with no fitted furniture
  • Ready-made wardrobes too big for the stairs
  • Space under the eaves going to waste

For a flat near Tottenham Hale station, the route in is measured along with the room itself, and the sections are sized to fit it.

Before you choose who makes it

  • Real projects you can actually look at
  • Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
  • Whether they measure the room themselves
  • Whether the route into your home has been checked

Why bespoke in Tottenham Hale?

In a loft room, walls and floors are seldom square. Standard furniture leaves visible gaps. We scribe our storage to the slopes and walls, and set it level. Rooms in newer homes are often compact, and standard depths can take too much floor, while fitted furniture can be made shallower where space is tight. It can still go to the ceiling.

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. A larger piece means more material and more time, so size is the starting point. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.

Your questions about loft storage in Tottenham Hale

Do you cover homes near Tottenham Hale station?

Yes, homes across Haringey and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.

How do you fit loft storage in a flat in Tottenham Hale?

We measure the route in not just the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Eaves cupboards are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.

Can you convert my loft as well?

No. We do not carry out loft conversions. Our part is the storage once the loft is a finished room, including eaves cupboards, knee-wall drawers and wardrobes.

Do I get to choose the colour?

The choice is yours, and we agree it with you before the furniture is finished. Whichever finish you pick, it is in the colour you’ve chosen.

How much does loft storage cost?

We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. The size of the room, the amount of storage and the finish all shape the price. To get a quote, fill in our short enquiry form and we’ll arrange a design visit.

What if the wall is cold or damp?

External walls can be colder and damper than internal ones, so ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps, which helps avoid condensation and mould. If there’s damp, it should be sorted before anything is fitted.

Fitting day, step by step

In older rooms, the furniture typically has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details, so it sits neatly against the room. How long fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Newer blocks often have concierge desks, entry systems and rules on lift booking, so check them with the managing agent before fitting day. Eaves cupboards are made in sections sized for the lift and doors.

  1. You get in touch and tell us about your converted or boarded loft.
  2. At the design visit we measure the knee walls, slopes and stairs and plan the storage with you.
  3. We send a written quote setting out the design, materials and finish.
  4. We make every part in our workshop, cut to the angle of the slope.
  5. We fit it in your home, scribed to the slopes and the walls.

Advice

Making use of awkward spaces in Tottenham Hale

In the streets around Tottenham Hale, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 35%) and before 1919 (about 27%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Tottenham Hale include The Ferry Boat Inn (Grade II), less than half a mile east, and Old Well and Well House (Grade II), about 0.5 miles west. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features such as panelling can require listed building consent. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. Each London borough runs its own parking controls, and Haringey is no exception. Where a street in Tottenham Hale is controlled, a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension from the council. Let us know about parking at the measuring visit.

For families living near Ferry Lane Primary School, deep drawers suit the bulky things families collect, from scooters to swimming kit. If you live near Bruce Castle Park, living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place.

When is bespoke worth it?

Cost matters, and it’s fair to say so: off-the-shelf furniture usually costs less up front. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is awkward, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.

Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job.
