How we make walk-in wardrobes for Duckett's Green
Our walk-in wardrobes are made for homes in Duckett's Green and all over London. It starts with a design visit to measure and plan the layout, followed by a quote. Once agreed, we make the units in our workshop and fit them in your home. How long fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote, so you will know before we start. If your home has shelves for shoes and bags and a dressing area in part of a bedroom, that’s what walk-in wardrobes are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
Older London houses often have sash windows, and the window position and deep reveals affect where furniture can go. For one of the older homes that make up a large share of the housing around Duckett's Green, the layout lets the sash open fully and keeps the light unblocked. Doors on fitted pieces are hung to clear the bed and any radiator.
The furniture is made at our workshop after you’ve had the quote and decided to go ahead. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so every detail can be checked first.

Fitting day, step by step
Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. How long the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. In houses converted into flats, the route in may include a shared hall and stairs, so it helps to let neighbours know about fitting day. The sections are sized for the narrowest point on the route. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.
- First, you tell us about the space and how you dress.
- At the design visit we measure the room and talk through hanging, shelves and drawers.
- A written quote follows, covering the design, materials and finish, for you to read through.
- The units are made in our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the walk-in wardrobe in your home, scribed to the walls and set level.
Before we arrive
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
- Keep pets in another room while we work

Flats, conversions and leaseholders
Conversions and newer flats often have stud walls rather than solid brick. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of.
A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind, after measuring the route at the design visit.
Common questions about walk-in wardrobes
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Duckett's Green?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.
How do you fit walk-in wardrobes in a flat in Duckett's Green?
We measure the route in not just the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Walk-in wardrobes are built in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. It helps to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.
Do you do the electrics?
No. We are carpenters, so electrical work is for your electrician. We can allow for cable routes in the design, and new sockets should be in place before fitting day.
Can you build a dressing area in my bedroom?
Yes. A run of units can define a dressing area, while any new walls are for your builder.
Do walk-in wardrobes need ventilation?
Yes. Air needs to circulate around stored clothes, particularly against a cooler external wall. The units are designed with ventilation in mind.
Can you turn a small spare room into a dressing room?
Often, yes. We can line a small room with hanging, shelving and drawers, while leaving space to stand and turn. We’ll measure and plan it at the design visit.

Why bespoke in Duckett's Green?
A bespoke walk-in wardrobe takes more planning than buying a system, and it costs more. What you get is storage designed for what you own and the space you have. Ready-made units stop well short of a tall period ceiling, wasting space that could hold things you rarely use. Fitted furniture can go all the way up.
No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.
Why us?
- We work across all London boroughs
- Spray painted or hand painted, in the colour you choose
- More than 300 projects completed
- Saturdays by arrangement

What it costs
Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. This is what makes the difference:
- How square the room is
- Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- How many doors and drawers there are
- The width and height of the space
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. A larger piece means more material and more time. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.
Helping us understand the room
To give us a picture of the room, it helps to include:
- Any ideas or images you’ve saved
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- What the furniture needs to hold
You don’t need exact measurements to get started. Everything is measured properly when we visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To get started, get in touch through our contact form and let us know about the room. The written quote follows the visit.
Could you do it yourself?
Cost matters, and it’s fair to say so: off-the-shelf furniture normally costs less up front. Bespoke earns its place where the room is awkward, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.
Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job, and it’s easy to buy.
