Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Widmore
With a walk-in wardrobe, clothes, shoes and bags have a space to themselves. It can be a spare room, a box room or part of a bedroom, fitted out with hanging, shelves and drawers. Everything is made in our workshop and fitted to the room, so it follows the walls and sits level. If your home has a side each for a couple and more space for clothes and shoes, that is what walk-in wardrobes are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
Across London, neighbouring streets can be decades apart in age, so a bedroom could have solid brick walls, lath and plaster, blockwork or plasterboard. Each wall is checked at the measuring visit before fixings are chosen. If the room has a chimney breast, the alcoves can take fitted storage; if not, a full wall often works best.
The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If something is not quite right, tell us before anything is made.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Ready-made wardrobe systems are easy to buy and often cheaper, and in a square room they can work. In an older room with uneven walls and a sloping floor, they leave gaps. Ours is built to the room’s real shape. Off-the-shelf furniture is designed for no room in particular, whereas fitted pieces are designed for one room: yours. The finish is chosen to suit the space.
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.
Why us?
- Made for your room, not a standard size
- Made in our workshop, then fitted in your home
- Spray painted or hand painted, in the colour you choose
- Fitted tight to walls that aren’t straight

Could you do it yourself?
Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there is often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can use the full height and width.
Where bespoke earns its keep is in rooms that aren’t square. In period homes, walls lean, floors slope and the alcoves on each side are often different widths, which leaves standard units with gaps at the sides and top.
From workshop to your room
Once the main sections are fixed in place, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Before fitting day, we check the route in along with the room itself, so the furniture comes in sections sized for the route. Floors and doorways are protected while the pieces come in.
- You get in touch and describe the room.
- We visit to plan the room and measure the way in, including stairs, landings and doorways.
- We send a quote in writing.

- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
Arranging a design visit
Rough measurements are fine at the start. We measure everything properly at the design visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To arrange it, tell us about the room on our contact form. You receive a quote in writing after the visit.

What affects the price in Widmore
To work out the quote, we look at:
- What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
- The overall size of the piece
- How many doors and drawers there are
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
What goes inside matters as much as the outside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, then set it out in the quote.
Before the design visit
When you contact us, these help most:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- What the furniture needs to hold
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
- Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall

Common questions about walk-in wardrobes
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Widmore?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit.
I live near Bickley station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Bromley and the rest of London. To get started, you can get in touch through our contact form with some details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Do I need permission in a conservation area?
Not usually. Conservation areas mostly control changes to the outside, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. In a listed building, check with the council’s conservation officer before any work.
Is ventilation important in a dressing room?
Yes, it helps keep clothes fresh and damp away. We design the units to let air move and walls should be dry before we fit.
Do you move sockets or add lighting?
No. Electrical work is not something we do; it’s a job for your electrician. We can plan cable routes into the design.
How are walk-in wardrobes priced?
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Size, fittings and finish all affect the price. To arrange a design visit, drop us a line using the contact form.
