Wall beds in Eden Park: what you get

Our wall beds are made for homes in Eden Park and all over London. It starts with a design visit to measure the room and check the wall, then a written quote. We make everything in our workshop and fit it in your home. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the bed and the cabinets around it, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Typical reasons to get in touch are somewhere comfortable for guests to sleep and a study that doubles as a spare room, and the answer is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.

In an area where interwar homes or semis make up much of the housing, as around Eden Park, bedrooms are often simple shapes, sometimes with a chimney breast or a bay. That makes a full wall of fitted furniture simple to plan, laid out around what you store. Where a loft conversion has been added, the sloping ceiling can take storage too.

After the design visit, we send you a quote in writing. It sets out the design we’ve talked through, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you are getting.

What happens on fitting day

With the carcasses fixed and level, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly. The time the fitting takes depends on the bed, the cabinets and the wall it fixes to, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Loft stairs in an interwar house can be tight, with a low ceiling at the top, so pieces for a loft room are sized for the narrowest point. The main stairs in houses of that age are normally straighter. Each section is assembled and fixed in the room.

  1. You contact us about a wall bed for a spare room or studio.
  2. We visit to measure the room and the way in, from the front door to the room itself. Mention parking as well, since vans often need a permit or a paid bay.
  3. Your written quote sets out the design, materials and finish.
  4. In our workshop we build the bed cabinet in sections from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We carry the sections in, assemble them and fix the mechanism as its maker specifies, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Preparing the room

  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
  • If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
  • Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through

Advice

Flats, blocks and rented homes

Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Let us know about it when you contact us.

We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let, as it makes good use of an tricky room. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.

Wall beds for homes in Eden Park

In the streets around Eden Park, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 64%) and the years since 2000 (about 20%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. That matters for wall beds, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Near the centre of Eden Park, Historic England’s list includes Oak Lodge (Grade II), about 0.5 miles south, and Langley Court Chapel (Grade II), about 0.5 miles north-east. What affects the price in Eden Park

What you pay depends on:

  • Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
  • Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
  • The number of doors and drawers

Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.

Getting in touch

Ahead of the design visit, we’ll typically ask about:

  • Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
  • Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
  • Pictures of styles you like, if you have any

We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit. To arrange a visit, fill in our short enquiry form.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?

A wall bed is fixed to the house, so it stays when you move. How long you will be in the home is worth weighing up before you decide. Standard widths rarely add up to the length of a real wall, which fitted furniture avoids. It can use the full height too.

There’s no price list, because each job is designed for a single room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a quote in writing, with the materials and finish set out. To start, get in touch through our contact form.

Before and after fitting day

Getting the most from wall beds starts with the planning and carries on after fitting day. Here are some things worth bearing in mind:

  • Plan a cupboard for spare bedding
  • Leaseholders: check your lease first
  • Mention if the wall is a stud wall
  • Think about how often the bed will be used

Keep to the mattress size and weight the mechanism allows, as a heavier one can affect how the bed balances. If you change the mattress later, check it against those limits.

Check how much floor there is in front of the cabinet. You need clear space for the bed to come down, so think about where a chair or desk will go.

FAQs: wall beds in Eden Park

I live near Eden Park station. Is that in your area?

Yes, homes across Bromley and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with a few details about the room.

Do you make wall beds for homes in Eden Park?

Yes. Eden Park is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Bromley and London. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit.

Is a wall bed safe for everyday use?

Wall beds are made for regular use when fixed and used as its maker specifies. The mechanism is fixed securely to a wall or floor that can take the load, and the maker’s guidance on use should always be followed.

Is it possible to add a desk beside the wall bed?

Yes, that’s a common request. A desk beside the bed suits a room that is an office by day, and any new sockets are for your electrician.

Can you fit furniture to uneven walls?

Walls and floors that are not true are part of the job in older homes. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base, so it sits tight to the room.

Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?

An outside wall can be colder and damper than an inside one, so we allow for ventilation behind and inside the furniture to avoid condensation. Any damp needs sorting by the right specialist before fitting.
