Bespoke Kitchens in College Park

In College Park, we design bespoke kitchens around the room you actually have. We design your kitchen at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.

  • A kitchen finished in your colours
  • Spaces sized for your oven and fridge
  • A kitchen island with room around it

College Park homes and bespoke kitchens

Homes built before 1919 make up about 79% of the housing in the area around College Park, with about 8% built between 1919 and 1939, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). We take that into account during the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. 5 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of the centre of College Park. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings. Red routes are run by TfL, with tight limits on where and when vehicles can stop. If your home in College Park is on or near a main road, tell us during the design visit. We’ll plan where the van can stop.

If you live in a flat close to Willesden Junction station, check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in. For a family home near Kenmont Primary School, a drawer set aside for lunch boxes and water bottles keeps mornings calmer. For an older house near Saint Mark's, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true.

How we make bespoke kitchens for College Park

We often use moisture-resistant MDF in kitchens, because it copes with a room that gets steamy. Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well. Cabinets are spray painted in the workshop or hand painted, in the colours you choose. If you’re living with a kitchen planned around your appliances and a painted kitchen in a colour you choose, that’s what kitchens are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.

With a large share of homes around College Park built before 1919, a chimney breast often survives in the kitchen, and it can frame a range cooker or a dresser. Any capped chimney should stay ventilated, and damp is dealt with before anything is fitted. Other trades handle the plumbing, gas and electrics.

The written quote is your record of the job. It describes the kitchen we have designed for the room, its materials and its finish, and the workshop works from it.

FAQs: bespoke kitchens in College Park

Can you fit bespoke kitchens to the uneven walls of an older house in College Park?

Yes, that’s normal in older houses: each piece is scribed to the wall and levelled at the base. We also work around skirting boards, picture rails and cornices. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether solid brick or lath and plaster.

My home in College Park is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?

At the design visit, we measure the way in as well as the room. Kitchens are built in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. It helps to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.

Do I need permission in a conservation area?

Usually not. Inside a house, fitted furniture does not normally need planning permission. If the building is listed, works affecting its character can require listed building consent, so ask the council’s conservation officer.

Can the fitting be on a Saturday?

Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Let us know when you first get in touch.

Does someone need to be home during the fitting?

We need access, so someone has to let us in. After that, you don’t need to stay in the room, though we like to go over the furniture with you at the end.

Can I have a kitchen island?

If the room is big enough, yes. At the design visit we check the clearances around it, and suggest another layout if it would crowd the room.

Flats, blocks and rented homes

If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, which is worth sorting early. We can’t advise on your lease.

Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too, as it makes good use of an awkward room. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

The real difference is in the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there’s often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can use the full height and width.

What happens on fitting day

Period rooms often have skirting boards, picture rails, cornices or coving for the furniture to meet. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site, so it looks as though it was always there. How long fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and your quote sets out the fitting days. On fitting day, edges are trimmed on site to follow the walls, so we ask for a clear space to work near the room. Dust is kept down and cleared up as we go. Where the finish is hand-painted, it can be done after the pieces are in.

  1. You contact us about a bespoke kitchen.
  2. At the design visit we plan the kitchen and talk about colours and finish.
  3. A quote in writing follows, with the finish agreed.
  4. The cabinets are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, and a spray finish is applied there for a smooth, even surface.
  5. The kitchen is fitted and scribed to the walls, with any hand painting done in the room.
  6. Treat new paint gently while it cures; the plumbing, gas and electrics are done by your own plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician.

Before fitting day

  • Clear the area where the furniture is going
  • Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
  • Tell us about parking near your home

Advice

Materials and finishes

Birch plywood

Open shelves in a kitchen need to stay straight, and birch plywood helps.

Hand-painted finish

A hand-painted finish can be done on site, once the kitchen is fitted. It’s easy to touch up later.

Pricing bespoke kitchens in College Park

What you pay depends on:

  • The width and height of the space
  • Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers

We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

Getting in touch

There is no need for exact sizes or plans. Just send what you can:

  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
  • Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
  • A few pictures of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
  • Examples of the look you’re after

If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, get in touch through our contact form.
