Before and after fitting day
New paint needs time to cure fully, so go gently with it for a while. After that, a few simple habits help:
- Make sure an island will not crowd the room
- Think about how you cook and what you store
- Know your appliance sizes early
- Measure the route into the kitchen
Follow the appliance makers’ guidance for your oven, hob and dishwasher, and the care advice for your worktop.
Think about how the cabinets will get in. Workshop-made furniture comes in sections sized for stairs, hallways and lifts, so let us know about any narrow spots.
How we make bespoke kitchens for Walham Green
Our bespoke kitchens are fitted in Walham Green and all over London. It starts with a design visit to measure and go through the layout, followed by a quote. The cabinets are made at our workshop and fitted in your home. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days, so you can plan around it. We make kitchens from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and people most often get in touch about a kitchen that fits an uneven room and spaces sized for your oven and fridge.
In a period terrace, the front door, hall and any turn into the kitchen limit the size of each piece. A large share of the homes around Walham Green date from before 1919, so the route to the kitchen is measured during the design visit. Long runs arrive in sections and are joined in place, with the joins placed where they will not show.
After the design visit, we send you a quote in writing. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you are getting.

In the streets around Walham Green, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 54%) and the years since 2000 (about 21%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. There are 45 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Walham Green. Older homes nearby may have original joinery, shutters or panelling worth keeping, and kitchens can be designed to work around them. More than half of the homes in the neighbourhood around Walham Green (about 54%) were built before 1919, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Older houses often have narrow kitchens at the back, with floors that slope, so each cabinet is levelled and scribed on site.

FAQs: bespoke kitchens in Walham Green
I live in a flat in Walham Green. How will the furniture get up the stairs?
At the design visit, we measure the way in not just the room. Kitchens are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.
I live near Imperial Wharf station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Hammersmith and Fulham and the rest of London. You can tell us about the room on our contact form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
Do you do the plumbing and electrics?
No, that work is for other trades. Your plumber connects the sink and dishwasher, a Gas Safe registered engineer handles any gas, and your electrician does the wiring, and we fit the cabinets.
How long will the kitchen take to fit?
It depends on the kitchen. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote, so you can plan your other trades around it.
Can I have a kitchen island?
Where space allows, yes. An island needs clear floor around it to open doors and move about, and we measure for it during the design visit. In a narrow kitchen, a longer run or a peninsula may suit better.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, we can arrange Saturdays. Let us know when you first get in touch.
Made-to-measure kitchens or ready-made?
Off-the-shelf kitchens are quicker to buy and normally cost less, and in a square modern room they can work well. In an older house with uneven walls, they tend to need filler panels and leave gaps. Bespoke is a bigger investment, built around the space you have. Standard furniture is drawn for modern rooms, so its proportions can look odd in a tall period room, whereas fitted pieces can pick up the room’s height and mouldings, with panels and details to suit the house.
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit, so size comes first. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.
Why work with us in Walham Green
- Designed for the room you have
- Built in our workshop and fitted in your home
- Over 300 projects completed
- Saturday visits and fitting by arrangement
How fitting day works
There isn’t much for you to do on fitting day. We need someone to let us in at the start, and the room should already be cleared, as agreed at the design visit. After that, it is over to us: the floors are covered, the sections come in and the fitting begins. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Parking on terraced streets can be tight, particularly in a controlled parking zone, so details of permits, bays and any loading restrictions help. The van is unloaded quickly, with the sections carried straight in. Saturdays are possible by arrangement.
- We start with how you cook and what the kitchen needs to hold.
- At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling and plan the layout.
- We send a quote in writing setting out the cabinets, materials and finish.
- The cabinets, doors and drawer fronts are made at our workshop. The materials are moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the cabinets in your home; plumbing, gas and electrics are done by your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician.
Preparing the room
- Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician beforehand
Starting with a design visit
If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we have measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, message us from the contact page.

Flat-pack or bespoke?
Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. We design shelves with that in mind.
Where bespoke earns its keep is in rooms that aren’t square. Older London rooms tend to have leaning walls, sloping floors and alcoves of different widths.
