Bespoke kitchens for your home in Fulham

About our bespoke kitchens in Fulham

Older London homes are rarely simple places to fit a kitchen. Few walls are flat, and floors often fall away from the walls, which shows up quickly along a run of cabinets. Each cabinet is trimmed to the wall and levelled on a plinth or adjustable feet giving a level line for the worktop you choose. People typically come to us about making the most of a galley kitchen and an island where space allows, and the answer is built in our workshop from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Older homes typically have generous ceiling heights, and around Fulham, a large share of homes are that age. That suits tall larder cupboards and wall cabinets taken up to the ceiling. Moisture-resistant MDF suits a kitchen, and the paint finish is agreed in your quote.

We write quotes in plain English, without jargon. They say what will be made, what it is made from and how it will be finished.

What happens on fitting day

When we arrive on fitting day, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. Next, we carry in the sections made at our workshop. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. In houses converted into flats, the route in may include a shared hall and stairs, so neighbours may appreciate a note before fitting day. The sections are sized for the narrowest point on the route. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. You get in touch and let us know about the room and how you cook.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room and go through the layout, storage and finish, including where the sink and appliances will go.
  3. A quote in writing follows, covering the cabinets, materials and finish.
  4. The cabinets, doors and drawer fronts are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician handle the plumbing, gas and electrics.

Flat-pack or bespoke?

Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well, and it’s easy to buy.

If you’re handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls.

Pricing bespoke kitchens in Fulham

We quote each job after the design visit, because no two rooms are the same. This is what makes the difference:

  • How square the room is
  • How big the furniture is
  • The number of doors and drawers
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room

Access to the room makes a difference too. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections. Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design.

Helping us understand the room

A few details help us understand the job before we visit. It’s useful to include:

  • Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any ideas or images you have saved
  • A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner

The design visit is where every quote starts. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. Afterwards, we send a quote in writing. To arrange the visit, message us from the contact page.

Made-to-measure kitchens in Fulham

The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Fulham were built before 1919 (about 67%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 13%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Part of Fulham is in a conservation area, according to Historic England’s records. Fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission in a conservation area, as the controls are largely about how buildings look from outside. Your council can advise if you are unsure. More than half of the homes in the neighbourhood around Fulham (about 67%) were built before 1919, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Kitchens in houses of that age often sit in a narrow back addition, with walls and floors that are not true, so each cabinet is levelled and scribed on site.

If you live near Parsons Green (park), a tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design. For families living near St Johns Walham Green Church of England Primary School, a drawer set aside for lunch boxes and water bottles keeps mornings calmer. The wider area includes historic houses such as Fulham Palace, about 0.7 miles south-west. If your own home is a period one, a narrow back addition or an old chimney breast may shape the kitchen layout.

Questions from Fulham

Will a conservation area stop me having bespoke kitchens fitted in Fulham?

Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, internal works that affect its character may need listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you’re unsure, the council can confirm.

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Fulham?

It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit.

Does someone need to be home during the fitting?

We need access, so someone has to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

Is there room for an island in my kitchen?

If there is enough room, yes. There has to be comfortable space on every side, and we check this at the design visit. If the room is narrow, we’ll suggest other layouts.

Do you make good the walls afterwards?

No. We make, fit and finish the furniture, and plastering and decorating are for other trades. The furniture itself is spray painted or hand painted.

Is the furniture made to order?

We make it in our workshop, to the design and sizes agreed after the design visit. Then we bring it to your home and fit it.

Why bespoke in Fulham?

There is a place for both. In a simple modern kitchen, off-the-shelf can be enough. Where the room is tricky, the house is older or you want a painted kitchen that suits it, bespoke is typically worth considering. The two recesses beside a chimney breast are seldom an identical size, and standard units bought as a pair rarely suit both. Fitted furniture is made to each one separately.

Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit, so size is the starting point. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.

What you get with us

What we do not do

Some parts of a job need another trade, from an electrician to a plumber or an engineer on the Gas Safe Register. Here’s what to know:

  • Wiring for appliances and lights
  • Any work on the gas supply
  • Connecting sinks, taps and dishwashers

If in doubt, you can drop us a line using the contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.
