About our bespoke kitchens in Ponders End
A larder cupboard can hold more than a run of wall units. We can build larders with shelves, drawers or racks inside the doors, planned around what you store. In an alcove or at the end of a run, it can use space that would otherwise be wasted. Most enquiries start with a larder for food and small appliances and a kitchen that fits an uneven room; the furniture is made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
Around Ponders End, interwar houses or semi-detached and detached homes make up a good part of the housing. If yours is a 1920s or 1930s house, the original kitchen was probably small, and many have since been extended or opened up. The cabinets are designed for the room as it is today, with an island where space allows.
A quote in writing is the clearest record of what we’ve agreed. It describes the kitchen we’ve designed for the room, its materials and its finish.

When is bespoke worth it?
Off-the-shelf furniture can be a sensible choice. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well, and it is quick to buy.
The real difference is in the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

Before and after fitting day
People planning bespoke kitchens often ask about these. They help before and after fitting:
- Treat new paintwork gently at first
- Think about how the cabinets will get in
- Check there’s room around an island before planning one
- Mention any parking or lift rules
New paintwork takes a while to harden after fitting. Go easy on the painted surfaces at first, and wipe them with a soft, damp cloth. After that, a soft cloth and mild soapy water is enough.
Leasehold flats can have rules about alterations, so check your lease early. Your lease is something to check with whoever manages the building.

How fitting works for bespoke kitchens
There is not much for you to do on fitting day. We need someone to let us in at the start, and it helps to have the room cleared beforehand. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. A front path or side gate can make the carry from the van simpler. Gates, paths and steps up to the door are part of the route we measure. Floors, stairs and doorways are protected on the way in, and the sections are assembled in place.
- You get in touch with a few details about the kitchen.

Questions from Ponders End
Do you make bespoke kitchens for homes in Ponders End?
Yes. Ponders End is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Enfield and London. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Ponders End?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to let us know about parking at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.
What finishes do you offer?
There are two ways to finish it: spray painted or hand painted. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.
Do I need permission to fit furniture in a leasehold flat?
Possibly. Some leases need the building owner’s consent before you make alterations. We cannot advise on leases, so please check yours.
Can I send pictures ahead of the visit?
Yes, they help. Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling, give us a good idea of the space. To send them, drop us a line using the contact form.
What if the wall is cold or damp?
An outside wall can be colder and damper than an inside one, so ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps to avoid condensation. If there is damp, it should be sorted before anything is fitted.
