How we make bespoke kitchens for Grange Park
We make kitchens for homes in Grange Park and across London. We begin with a design visit, measuring the room and planning the layout, then a quote in writing. The cabinets are built in our workshop and fitted in your home. The time the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. If your home has a kitchen island with room around it and cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls, that’s what kitchens are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
Knocked-through kitchen-diners in older semis sometimes keep a chimney breast, and the recesses beside it can take a dresser or larder. If yours is one of the interwar houses or semis that make up much of the housing around Grange Park, the design can make the most of it. Any capped chimney stays ventilated.
The quote comes in writing, so there’s time to read it properly. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

Flat-pack or bespoke?
Cost matters, and it’s fair to say so: off-the-shelf furniture usually costs less up front. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is awkward, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.
The real difference is in the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
What it is made from
Hand-painted finish
Hand painting gives a softer, traditional look in a period house.
Birch plywood
We use birch plywood where strength matters, which suits drawer boxes and shelves. Its layered edge can be shown or painted.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Ready-made cabinets often have chipboard carcasses. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, painted in colours you choose, finished to suit the room. The spaces between doors, windows and radiators are seldom a stock size, so ready-made furniture often ends up in the wrong place. Built-in pieces are planned around those fixed points.
We don’t publish set prices, because each job is designed for a single room. Instead, we measure, discuss the design and then quote in writing. To start, use our contact form.

Your questions about bespoke kitchens in Grange Park
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Grange Park?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit.
Can you make bespoke kitchens for a home in Grange Park?
Yes, Grange Park is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Enfield and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.
Can you fit a kitchen in a room with uneven walls?
Yes. Each cabinet is trimmed to the wall and levelled, so the worktop you choose can sit level. It’s one of the main reasons people choose bespoke in an older house.
Will you connect the sink and appliances?
No, that work is for other trades. Your plumber connects the sink and dishwasher, a Gas Safe registered engineer handles any gas, and your electrician does the wiring, and we fit the cabinets.
Do you supply the worktop and appliances?
We plan the kitchen around the worktop, sink and appliances you choose. It helps to choose them before the design is final, and the quote confirms what’s included.
Do I need planning permission for fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.
The problems bespoke kitchens solve
Flats with tricky kitchen walls are another reason. We can design for a galley, an alcove or a corner without wasting space.
Here’s what bespoke kitchens can help with:
- Spray-painted or hand-painted cabinets
- Cabinets built around the appliances you choose
- Tall larder storage
- A layout for a small or awkward room
For families living near Grange Park Primary School, a kitchen with a spot for school letters and lunch boxes makes mornings easier.
Before you choose who makes it
- Will the quote be in writing?
- How the furniture will be finished, and where
- Who does any electrics, plumbing or gas work
- Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
What happens on fitting day
Getting everything level comes first. Floors are often out of level, so adjustable feet or a plinth take up the difference, and that keeps the doors and shelves true. After that, it’s fixed to the wall using fixings that suit the wall, whether that is solid brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. If you have a driveway, it can make unloading simpler, so let us know at the design visit. Otherwise, details of permits or nearby bays help. Doorways, stairs and floors are covered on the way in.
- You get in touch and tell us about the room and how you cook. It helps to know the worktop, sink and appliances you have in mind.
- We come to measure up and plan the layout with you, including where the sink and appliances will go.
- A written quote follows, covering the cabinets, materials and finish.
- The cabinets, doors and drawer fronts are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- The kitchen is fitted in your home, and your plumber, electrician and an engineer on the Gas Safe Register do the plumbing, electrics and gas. We do not arrange those trades, so it is useful to book them early.
How to prepare
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
- Keep pets in another room while we work
Arranging a design visit
The quote is built from the design visit. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and go through the design with you. A quote in writing follows the visit for you to look over. To book one, tell us about the room on our contact form.
