Fitted wardrobes for your home in Belvedere

Fitted wardrobes in Belvedere: what you get

We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood in our workshop. The doors are finished with spray paint in the workshop or painted by hand, in a colour agreed with you. Then we fit them in your home, levelling them on a plinth or adjustable feet and scribing them to the walls and ceiling. People typically come to us about gaps above and around standalone wardrobes and a bedroom that never feels tidy, and the answer is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.

Older bedrooms bring bowed walls and high ceilings, newer ones stud walls and lower ceilings. A home in Belvedere might be either, or neither. We scribe, level and fix to suit whichever you have. The height of the room decides how tall the pieces can be.

Everything we agree at the design visit goes into the written quote: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If something is not quite right, tell us before anything is made.

Scribing means trimming edges on site to follow the walls and ceiling. It’s how a straight carcass meets a wall that isn’t straight.

Birch plywood

Shelves inside a wardrobe carry folded clothes, shoes and boxes. Birch plywood helps keep them straight, even across a wide section.

Could you do it yourself?

Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well, and it’s easy to buy.

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

What it costs

What you pay depends on:

  • How many doors and drawers there are
  • Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
  • Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • The overall size of the piece

No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. You will see the figure in your written quote, after the design visit.

Getting in touch

When you contact us, these help most:

  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
  • Rough measurements: width, height and depth
  • A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
  • Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters

It’s useful to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space. To share them, fill in our short enquiry form, and we’ll arrange a design visit.

Fitted wardrobes for homes in Belvedere

The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Belvedere were built before 1919 (about 26%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 22%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. That matters for fitted wardrobes, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Near the centre of Belvedere, Historic England’s list includes Parish Church of All Saints (Grade II), less than half a mile south-west. Listing covers the inside of a building as well as the outside, so works that affect a listed home’s character, like removing original joinery, can require listed building consent. It is worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. Around Belvedere, about 26% of homes date from before 1919, well above the figure for Bexley as a whole, about 11%, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. So older-house details are more likely to come into the design of fitted wardrobes.

The wider area includes historic houses like Red House, about 2.3 miles south-west. If your own home is a period one, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice. For a flat near Belvedere station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in. If you live near Lesnes Abbey Woods, fitted wardrobes are usually planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay.

Belvedere is about 4 miles south-west of Sidcup, in the London Borough of Bexley. Whether your home in Belvedere is a terraced house, a flat or a newer build, the furniture is designed around the room as we find it. Our work takes in places right across Bexley, large and small.

How fitting day works

Period rooms often have skirting boards, picture rails, cornices or coving for the furniture to meet. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. Whatever the age of your home, the furniture is fitted to the walls you have, scribed where walls bow and levelled where floors slope. Spray-painted pieces arrive finished; hand-painted ones can be finished on site.

  1. You describe the bedroom and the storage you need. A rough sketch of the room helps if you have one.
  2. We come to measure and talk through hanging heights, doors and drawers, with your clothes in mind.
  3. We put the design, materials and finish into a quote in writing.
  4. Once you are happy, the wardrobes are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, ready for spraying or for hand painting on site.
  5. The wardrobes are fitted in your home, ready to use. We adjust the doors so they hang and close evenly.

Before we arrive

  • Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
  • Keep pets in another room while we work
  • Clear the walls of pictures and shelves

Getting a quote

Rough measurements are fine at the start. We measure everything properly at the design visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To get started, send us a few details through our contact form with a few details about the room. You receive a quote in writing after the visit.

Advice

Questions from Belvedere

I live near Belvedere station. Is that in your area?

Yes. We cover all of Bexley and the rest of London. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Belvedere?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit.

Can I send photos ahead of the visit?

Yes, they help. Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling, give us a good idea of the space. You can send them when you message us from the contact page.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It’s good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.

How do I get a quote?

It is easiest to fill in our short enquiry form with some details about the room. We then arrange a design visit, measure up and send a written quote.

Is it possible to build wardrobes into a loft room with a slope?

Yes. We shape the wardrobe to follow the slope, keeping hanging space at the tall end and drawers or shelves lower down. It turns tricky space into storage.

Before and after fitting day

The finish lasts best with a little care, whether it was spray painted or hand painted. These practical tips help:

  • Decide what goes on shelves and what goes in drawers
  • Check the route into your flat, not just the room
  • Clear the wall where the wardrobes will go before fitting day
  • Think about whether hinged doors will clear the bed

If you have sliding doors, keep the bottom track clear of dust and fluff so the doors run smoothly. Do not let shoes or bags sit in the track.

Close doors gently and do not let them swing into furniture. It helps the hinges and runners stay true.
