Fitted Wardrobes in Erith

We make fitted wardrobes in moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood for homes in Erith. The finish is spray painted or hand painted, in a colour agreed with you.

  • A sloping ceiling that’s hard to use
  • Musty smells in a wardrobe on a cold wall
  • Not enough hanging space

Fitted wardrobes in Erith

Fitted wardrobes for homes in Erith

An outside wall is often colder than an inside one, and clothes pressed against a cold wall can lead to condensation. Where a wardrobe goes on an external wall, we plan ventilation behind and inside it to help avoid condensation and mould. Moisture-resistant MDF is a sensible choice there too. If your home has dusty space on top of the wardrobe and clothes piled on chairs and in spare rooms, fitted wardrobes made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand can solve it.

If your bedroom is in a period house, expect uneven walls and tall ceilings; in a newer flat, expect plasterboard and a lower ceiling. A home in Erith might be either, or neither. Each is measured and fitted in its own way. Ceiling height sets how tall the furniture can go.

Once you’ve read the quote and decided to go ahead, the furniture is built in our workshop. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so every detail can be checked first.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that aren’t square. Older London rooms tend to have leaning walls, sloping floors and alcoves of different widths, and standard units leave gaps.

Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job.

Fitted bedroom furniture in Erith

The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Erith were built before 1919 (about 26%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 22%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. There are 5 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Erith. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. TfL’s Ultra Low Emission Zone covers every part of London, Bexley included. It applies to every van that comes to fit furniture in Erith. Parking and access are planned at the design visit.

If you live in a period home close to Christ Church, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design. For a family home near Christ Church (Erith) CofE Primary School, fitted wardrobes in a child’s room can be planned so the inside layout changes as they grow. Close to Wildspace Conservation Park? Morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they will not shade the window.

Erith is about 4 miles south-west of Sidcup, in the London Borough of Bexley. From period terraces to newer flats in Erith, the furniture is designed around the room as we find it. Our Bexley coverage includes Erith.

Flats, conversions and lettings

If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations. We cannot give advice on leases, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.

We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let. It’s made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work, finished by spray or by hand.

How we price fitted wardrobes

The price for your room depends on:

  • The number of doors and drawers
  • Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
  • Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
  • How big the furniture is

In London, parking can affect the price. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay. Let us know about parking during the design visit.

Helping us understand the room

Ahead of the design visit, we will normally ask about:

  • Rough sizes: width, height and depth
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
  • Any ideas or images you have saved

If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we’ve measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Fitting day, step by step

Fitting day follows a set order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. How long the fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Fitting day means joining the sections, fitting them to the walls and setting them level. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether brick, block, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. You get in touch about fitted wardrobes for your bedroom, with a rough idea of what you need to hang and fold.
  2. We visit to measure up and plan the doors, rails, shelves and drawers with you. Hinged or sliding doors are part of that conversation.
  3. You receive a quote setting out the design and the paint finish.
  4. The wardrobes are made in sections in our workshop.
  5. Fitting day: the wardrobes go in, are levelled and scribed, and the doors are hung.

Before we arrive

  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
  • Make sure pets are kept safely away
  • Empty the space we’ll be working in

Starting with a design visit

We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, once the room is measured and the design talked through. For a quote, tell us about the room on our contact form.

FAQs: fitted wardrobes in Erith

Is parking a problem for fitting in Erith?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It’s useful to let us know about parking at the measuring visit, so the day can be planned around it.

Does a conservation area in or near Erith affect fitted furniture?

Not normally. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, changes inside that alter its character can require listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you are unsure, the council can confirm.

Is the furniture made to order?

Each piece is made at our workshop for the room it’s going into, then fitted in your home. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.

How do I get started?

Simply message us from the contact page. Rough measurements and a few photos help, and we will arrange a design visit, followed by a written quote.

How is the price worked out?

It depends on the size, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish, along with access and parking. The price comes in a quote in writing after the design visit.

How do you get fitted wardrobes into a flat?

We make the wardrobes in sections sized to the route into your home. That’s why we measure the route, not just the room. If you are in a leasehold flat, check your lease before fixing furniture to walls.

What we don’t do

Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, and there are a few other limits too:

  • Redecorating around the wardrobes
  • Electrical work, such as moving sockets or switches, which is for your electrician
  • Fixing the cause of condensation or damp

If in doubt, you can use our contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. Our process from visit to fitting.
