Fitted Wardrobes in Duckett's Green

Fitted wardrobes for your home in Duckett's Green: floor-to-ceiling wardrobes built to the shape of your bedroom. Each piece is designed at a visit to your home, made in our workshop and fitted by us.

  • Several odd pieces where one run of storage would do
  • Wasted space beside the chimney breast
  • Not enough hanging space

Doors and drawer fronts

Doors can be plain, panelled or shaped to suit the room. You choose a colour that matches or contrasts with the room.

Plinths and scribe strips

Scribing means trimming edges on site to follow the walls and ceiling. This closes the gaps a straight wardrobe would leave in an older room.

Fitted wardrobes for homes in Duckett's Green

Fitted wardrobes are made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. Doors and panels are spray painted in the workshop or hand painted, in the colour you choose. Then we fit them in your home, levelling them on a plinth or adjustable feet. We make fitted wardrobes from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and people most often get in touch about not enough hanging space and no space in front for doors to swing.

Older bedrooms normally have generous ceiling heights, and a large share of the homes around Duckett's Green date from then. That height can be used, with fitted furniture taken up to the cornice and top cupboards for occasional things. Picture rails, skirting boards and coving are met neatly or cut around, so the furniture suits the house.

After the design visit, we send you a written quote. It sets out the design we’ve talked through, the materials and the finish, so it is clear what’s included.

DIY, flat-pack or bespoke

Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well, and it’s quick to buy.

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

How fitting works for fitted wardrobes

The last stage of the day is the finish. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. In houses converted into flats, the route in may include a shared hall and stairs, so it’s useful to let neighbours know about fitting day. Each section is sized for the tightest door or turn. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. You contact us about fitted wardrobes.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room and agree the layout and doors.
  3. We send a written quote.
  4. The wardrobes are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then sprayed if you chose a spray finish.
  5. The wardrobes are fitted and scribed, with any hand painting done in the room.
  6. At the end we check each door and drawer with you; fresh paintwork needs gentle handling while it cures.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets in another room while we work
  • Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
  • Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through

Looking after your furniture

None of this takes much effort. What we’d suggest:

  • Decide what goes on shelves and what goes in drawers
  • Check your lease before fixing furniture to walls in a leasehold flat
  • Check how much space there is in front for doors to open
  • Move furniture away from the wardrobe wall ahead of time

Leave a little space between clothes and the back of the wardrobe where the wardrobe sits on an outside wall. Air moving through helps avoid condensation and mould.

Now and then, check that handles and hinges are tight.

Questions from Duckett's Green

Can you make fitted wardrobes for a home in Duckett's Green?

Yes. Duckett's Green is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Haringey and London. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with some details.

My house in Duckett's Green is Victorian. Can you deal with uneven walls?

Yes, that is normal in older houses: each piece is scribed to the wall and levelled at the base. We also work around skirting boards, picture rails and cornices. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether solid brick or lath and plaster.

Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?

There are two ways to finish it: by spray or by hand. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.

How long does it take to fit wardrobes?

How long fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. We’ll explain what fitting day involves before we start.

Can you fit wardrobes under a sloping ceiling?

Yes. We shape the wardrobe to follow the slope, with long hanging where there is height and shelves or drawers where it’s lower. It turns tricky space into storage.

Is it OK to put a wardrobe on an outside wall?

Yes. Wardrobes on outside walls are designed with ventilation behind and inside. If there is damp on the wall already, it should be sorted first.

Fitted wardrobes in Duckett's Green: local notes

Homes built before 1919 make up about 62% of the housing in the neighbourhood around Duckett's Green, with about 12% built since 2000, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Near the centre of Duckett's Green, Historic England’s list includes The Salisbury Public House (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles south, and Church of St John the Baptist (greek Orthodox) (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles west. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features like panelling can need listed building consent. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. Strict stopping rules apply on red routes, which TfL runs. If your street in Duckett's Green joins a main road, it’s worth telling us during the design visit. We can then plan where the van will stop.

If you live in a flat close to Hornsey station, the route in is measured not just the room, and the sections are sized to fit it. If your home is one of the older houses near Christ Church, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice. For families living near St John Vianney RC Primary School, the inside of fitted wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow.

Flats, blocks and rented homes

If your building is on a red route or a busy main road, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so it’s worth raising at the measuring visit.

Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations. We cannot give advice on leases, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.
