What we do not do

Some parts of a job need another trade, from an electrician to a plumber or an engineer on the Gas Safe Register. Here’s what to know:

  • Curing damp, which needs the right specialist
  • Building work to create a loft room
  • Painting walls and ceilings, or repairing plaster

If you’re not sure what’s possible in your room, you can message us from the contact page and we’ll give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. Our process from visit to fitting.

Fitted wardrobes in Hatton: what you get

Wardrobes can be built around a bed, with cupboards each side and a run of storage above the headboard. Others work around a window, with a dressing table or seat in between. The layout is planned so the room does not feel boxed in. We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and the things people most often want solved are several odd pieces where one run of storage would do and empty alcoves in the bedroom.

A bedroom in a house from between the wars normally has simpler mouldings than a Victorian one, which makes it simple to take fitted furniture up to the ceiling. Around Hatton, where interwar homes, semis and detached houses are a big part of the housing, the top cupboards can hold suitcases and spare bedding. The skirting is scribed around rather than removed.

We write quotes in plain English, without jargon. They say what will be made, what it’s made from and how it will be finished, taken from what we agreed at the visit.

Your questions about fitted wardrobes in Hatton

Is Hatton in the area you cover for fitted wardrobes?

Yes, we work across Hillingdon, Hatton included, and across the rest of London. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Hatton?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.

How long will the fitting take?

It depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and your quote sets out the fitting days. The making happens in our workshop, so the time in your home is mostly fitting and finishing.

How do I get started?

It’s easiest to drop us a line using the contact form. After that, we arrange a design visit and follow it with a quote in writing.

Which is better for fitted wardrobes, hinged or sliding doors?

That depends on how much space there is in front of the wardrobe. Where a bed sits close by, sliding doors often work better. We look at it with you when we measure.

Will fitted wardrobes get up the stairs to my flat?

Each wardrobe is built in sections that suit the stairs, landings and lift, then assembled in the bedroom. Tell us if your block has lift or concierge booking rules.

DIY, flat-pack or bespoke

Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well.

Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there is often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can use the full height and width.

Is it time for fitted wardrobes?

Most people come to us because they’ve simply run out of space. Clothes spill onto chairs, into spare rooms and under the bed. Built-in wardrobes make use of the full wall, up to the ceiling, so you get more storage from the same floor space.

A few of the things people ask us to solve include:

  • Not enough hanging space
  • Mismatched bedroom furniture
  • Dusty space on top of the wardrobe
  • Bedroom alcoves that could hold clothes

For a family home near Cranford Primary School, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller.

Questions to ask before you hire anyone

  • Will the quote be in writing?
  • Real projects you can actually look at
  • How parking will work on your street
  • Who does any electrics, plumbing or gas work

How fitting day works

You are welcome to ask questions while we work. The design, materials and finish were settled before anything was made, so the day itself is about careful fitting and leaving the room tidy. How long the fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. Fitting day means carrying in the sections, joining them and fitting them to the walls. Hand-painted furniture can be finished on site; spray-painted pieces arrive finished from the workshop. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.

  1. You contact us with a short note about the room and the wardrobes you have in mind, and we arrange a design visit.
  2. At the design visit, we measure up and plan the doors and the inside with you. We also look at the way in, in case the sections need to go up narrow stairs.
  3. You receive a written quote setting out the wardrobes, doors and finish.
  4. Each section is built in our workshop to the room’s measurements, sized to get through your doors and up the stairs.
  5. We install the wardrobes, hang the doors and fit the rails, shelves and drawers.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about parking near your home
  • Empty the space we will be working in
  • Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture

Fitted wardrobes in Hatton: local notes

Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 40% of the housing in the area around Hatton, with about 31% built between 1945 and 1972, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. About 46% of households in the area around Hatton live in detached or semi-detached houses, in the ONS Census 2021 figures. A house like that typically has more rooms to plan around than a flat, and sometimes a driveway that makes unloading easier.

If your home is one of the older houses near The Parish Church of the Good Shepherd, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice. Close to Hounslow Heath? Fitted wardrobes are usually planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay.

What affects the price in Hatton

The price for your room depends on:

  • The overall size of the piece
  • Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
  • Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside

Rooms that are not square take more work: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. The quote allows for it.

What to send when you get in touch

These details help when you get in touch:

  • Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
  • What the furniture needs to hold
  • Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
  • Your postcode and the borough

Rough sizes are fine at the start. Everything is measured properly when we visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To get started, drop us a line using the contact form with a few details about the room. The written quote follows the visit.
