Fitted wardrobes in Mile End: what you get
You can choose hinged or sliding doors. Hinged doors open a whole section at once, though they need room in front to open. Sliding doors save that space in a narrow room, but only part of the inside is open at any one time. Which suits your room is something we talk through when we visit. People normally come to us about empty alcoves in the bedroom and dusty space on top of the wardrobe; the furniture is made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
Bedrooms in homes built since 2000 sometimes have big windows that take up much of a wall, so the remaining walls have to work harder. Many homes around Mile End were built since 2000, and fitted furniture can use every part of the solid walls. Corners are designed in rather than left as dead space.
Where other trades are needed, for example an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

Fitted wardrobes for homes in Mile End
The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Mile End were built since 2000 (about 45%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 21%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. 22 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of the centre of Mile End. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings. Red routes, run by TfL, have strict rules on stopping and loading. If your home in Mile End is on or near a main road, tell us during the design visit. Then we can work out where to load and unload.
If your children go to Beatrice Tate School or a school nearby, the inside of fitted wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow. If you live near Mile End Park, morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they won’t shade the window. If your home is one of the older houses near Holy Trinity Church, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where fitted wardrobes go.
Mile End is in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, about 2 miles west of Whitechapel. We work across all London boroughs and the City of London, and Mile End is part of that. Mile End is one of the places in Tower Hamlets where we make fitted wardrobes, and the borough has 31 places on our list.

Pricing fitted wardrobes in Mile End
Prices vary from room to room, and it comes down to:
- How square the room is
- Spray painting or hand painting
- Parking near your home
- The width and height of the space
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.
Getting in touch
Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:
- Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- Where you live, with the postcode
- Examples of the look you are after
To make a start, fill in our short enquiry form and tell us which room you have in mind and roughly what you’d like. We then arrange a design visit to measure and discuss the design, and a quote in writing follows.
Is bespoke worth it?
Standalone wardrobes cost less to buy and can come with you when you move. That’s a real advantage if you are renting or moving soon. Built-in wardrobes become part of the house. Newer homes often have compact rooms where standard furniture leaves awkward gaps, and fitted furniture uses that space. It can also be planned around boxed-in pipes and risers.
The finish affects the cost: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

Your questions about fitted wardrobes in Mile End
Is Mile End in the area you cover for fitted wardrobes?
Yes. Mile End is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Tower Hamlets and London. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit.
Is parking a problem for fitting in Mile End?
It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit, so we can plan the day around it.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
There are two ways to finish it: by spray or by hand. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.
How is the price worked out?
Every job is priced for its room: the size, what goes inside, the finish and how square the room is all count. You will get a written quote once we’ve measured up.
Is it OK to put a wardrobe on an outside wall?
Yes. We plan ventilation behind and inside wardrobes on external walls. If there is damp on the wall already, it should be sorted first.
Can you fit wardrobes in a top-floor flat?
Each wardrobe is built in sections that suit the stairs, landings and lift, and the wardrobe is put together in the room. Tell us if your block has lift or concierge booking rules.
What happens on fitting day
However carefully a piece is made in the workshop, it still has to meet the room, and fitting day is where that happens. Walls in older homes are rarely flat or square, so we scribe the edges by hand to follow the wall, closing the gaps a standard unit would leave. How long the fitting itself takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. In a newer home, floors, walls and door frames are often freshly finished, so we protect the route before carrying anything in. Corners and door frames are covered as well. The sections are assembled in the room.
- To begin, tell us about the room on our contact form; a brief note on the bedroom and what you need to store is enough.
- We visit to measure up and work out the inside with you, from rail heights to drawer depths.
- A quote in writing follows, listing the layout inside, the doors and the finish.
- The wardrobes are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, ready for the rails, shelves and drawers you chose.
- We fit the wardrobes in your home, then put in the rails, shelves and drawers at the heights we agreed.
Preparing the room
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
Ask for a quote
A quote begins with a few details from you: the room, rough sizes and some photos if you have them. When you’re ready, get in touch through our contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and discuss the design, then send a written quote.

How it is made
Spray-painted finish
A spray-painted finish is applied in our workshop, giving a smooth, even surface on large doors. It works on plain and panelled doors alike.
Moisture-resistant MDF
Moisture-resistant MDF is stable and takes paint well, so we use it for doors, end panels and the faces you see. It’s a sensible choice against a colder external wall.
Flats, conversions and leaseholders
For flats on red routes or busy main roads, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so let us know about it at the design visit.
Many London terraces have been converted into flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it, after measuring the route during the design visit.
