Fitted Wardrobes in Wapping

We make fitted wardrobes for homes in Wapping, designed around the room you have. We design your fitted wardrobe at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.

  • A bedroom that never feels tidy
  • Too little room for clothes
  • Empty alcoves in the bedroom

Looking after your furniture

The finish lasts best with a little care. These practical tips help:

  • Check the route into your flat, not just the room
  • Let us know which walls face outside
  • Count how much long hanging and short hanging you need
  • List the things that won’t hang, like jumpers and shoes

Doors can settle a little once the wardrobes are filled. Most hinges can be adjusted to bring a door back in line, and sliding doors can be adjusted on their runners.

Make sure vents at the top or bottom of the wardrobe are not blocked. Look out for a musty smell or spots on clothes and deal with any damp early.

Fitted wardrobes for homes in Wapping

Fitted wardrobes are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. The doors are finished with spray paint in the workshop or painted by hand, in the colour you choose. We then fit them in your home, setting them level on adjustable feet or a plinth. Most enquiries start with a bedroom that never feels tidy and storage boxes stacked under the bed; the furniture is made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Many homes around Wapping were built since 2000, and across London a lot of homes from those years are compact flats in newer blocks. Small rooms suit fitted furniture that uses the full height and the awkward corners. Boxed-in pipes and service risers can be built around, so nothing is wasted.

A quote in writing follows the design visit. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish.

Questions from Wapping

Is Wapping in the area you cover for fitted wardrobes?

Yes, we work across Tower Hamlets, Wapping included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with a few details.

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Wapping?

It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It’s useful to tell us about parking at the design visit.

What happens when you come to measure?

We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We look at the walls, floors and anything the furniture has to work around, then send a quote in writing.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

We need access, so someone has to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

Do you do the electrics?

No. Electrical work isn’t something we do; it is a job for your electrician. We can plan cable routes into the design, and any new sockets are best done before fitting day.

How is the furniture painted?

You can choose between two finishes: by spray or by hand. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.

Pricing fitted wardrobes in Wapping

Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. These are the things that affect it:

  • Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
  • Doors and drawers, and how many
  • Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • Parking and unloading on your street

No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

Before the design visit

You don’t need exact measurements or a plan. Just send what you can:

  • Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
  • Any ideas or images you have saved
  • Rough sizes: width, height and depth
  • Your postcode and the borough

Getting a quote starts with some details: which room it is, rough measurements and a couple of photos if you can take them. When you’re ready, fill in our short enquiry form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a quote in writing.

How fitting day works

At the end, we tidy up and lift the floor protection. Before we go, we look over the finished furniture with you. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Newer blocks often have concierge desks, entry systems and rules on lift booking, so check them with the managing agent before fitting day. Fitted wardrobes are made in sections sized for the lift and doors.

  1. You get in touch with a few details about the bedroom and where it is in the house.
  2. We visit to measure the room and go through the design, and we measure the stairs, landings and doorways too. Tell us about parking as well, as a van usually needs a permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension in much of London.
  3. A quote in writing follows with the design, materials and finish.
  4. The wardrobes are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections sized for the route we measured.
  5. Fitting day: the sections come in, are joined and set level, and the doors are hung.

Before we arrive

  • Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way

How to get a quote

If you already have something in mind, tell us; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we’ve measured, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To start, fill in our short enquiry form.

Wapping homes and fitted wardrobes

In the neighbourhood around Wapping, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 37%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 29%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Within a mile of the centre of Wapping, 21 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Parking on many inner London streets is controlled, with zones run by each borough. That usually means a van in Wapping needs a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council. It helps to let us know about parking at the design visit.

If your home is one of the older houses near St Peter's, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design. If your children go to St Mellitus College or a school nearby, a mix of drawers and shelves copes with school uniform as well as everything else.

What fitted wardrobes cannot fix

It’s useful to know what’s outside our work before you plan:

  • Treating damp or mould on the walls
  • Redecorating around the wardrobes
  • Electrical work, like moving sockets or switches, which is for your electrician

If you’re not sure what’s possible in your room, you can message us from the contact page and we will give you a straight answer. Our process from visit to fitting.

Materials and parts

  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Hanging rails, shelves and drawers
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Hinged or sliding doors
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Birch plywood

Why people ask for fitted wardrobes in Wapping

After a loft conversion, the new bedroom typically needs storage that suits the slopes. Wardrobes built under the slope use space that would otherwise sit empty, keeping the room clear.

If you recognise any of these, it’s worth talking to us:

  • A room too narrow for hinged doors
  • Mismatched bedroom furniture
  • Damp or musty clothes against an external wall
  • Standard wardrobes that do not fill the wall

If you live in a flat close to Wapping station, fitted wardrobes are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.

What to check before you book

  • Have they thought about parking near you?
  • Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
  • How they handle walls that aren’t straight
  • How doors and drawers are fitted
