Fitted home offices in Northwick Park: what you get

A good home office has a place for everything. Drawers for stationery, cupboards for files and a printer, and shelves for books and folders, so the work surface stays clear. Doors can hide the working things when you are done. For a home in Northwick Park, we design it all around what you need to store. Most enquiries start with an awkward space with no furniture that fits and a room with two jobs to do, and the answer is built in our workshop from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Stud walls in newer homes can take shelves above a desk, as long as the fixings suit them. With many homes around Northwick Park built since 2000, that is something we check during the design visit. Tall cupboards stand on the floor and are tied back.

A quote in writing is the clearest record of what we’ve agreed. It describes the home office we’ve designed for the room, what it is made from and how it’s finished.

What happens on fitting day

Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on how much desk, shelving and storage you want, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Parking at newer developments can be restricted, with private bays or loading areas, so it is useful to let us know at the measuring visit. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled and fixed. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.

  1. It starts when you contact us with some details about the space, including the equipment you use.
  2. At the design visit we measure, look at the light and the sockets and plan the layout with you.
  3. We send a quote in writing setting out the design, materials and finish.
  4. We make every part in our workshop, sized for the room and the route in, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit it in your home, scribed to the walls and set level, with cable routes left clear.

Is bespoke worth it?

Standalone office furniture can move with you, which suits a short stay. A fitted office stays with the house, and it uses the space in a way a standalone desk cannot. The right choice depends on how long you plan to stay. Newer homes often have compact rooms where standard furniture leaves awkward gaps, and fitted furniture uses that space. It can also be planned around boxed-in pipes and risers.

In London, parking can affect the price. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. It is useful to talk about parking during the design visit, so we can plan for it.

Boards, parts and paint

Hand-painted finish

A hand-painted finish can be done in your home after fitting. Small marks are simple to touch in later. That suits a desk that sees daily use.

Spray-painted finish

A spray-painted finish is smooth and even. We spray in the workshop, so the finish is complete before fitting. You choose the colour.

Honest limits

It is worth being clear about where our work stops:

  • Plastering and decorating around the office
  • Connecting printers and screens
  • Converting a loft to make room for an office

It applies to the vans that deliver and fit furniture in Northwick Park, as it does anywhere else in London. We go through parking and access at the measuring visit.

If you live in a period home close to Saint Cuthberts Church, a small back bedroom can become a home office with a desk under the window. If you live in a flat close to Kenton station, it is useful to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day. Near listed buildings like Parish Church of St Mary, about 0.5 miles west of the centre of Northwick Park, older homes may keep original joinery that home offices can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features may need listed building consent.

What affects the price in Northwick Park

What it costs comes down to the materials and the time involved. That depends on:

  • The number of doors and drawers
  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
  • The overall size of the piece
  • How square the room is

Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

What to send when you get in touch

When you contact us, these help most:

  • Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
  • What you’d like to store or use the space for
  • A few pictures of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
  • The type of home and how the room is reached

It helps to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space, along with rough measurements. To share them, drop us a line using the contact form, and we will arrange a design visit.

FAQs: fitted home offices in Northwick Park

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Kenton station?

Yes. We cover all of Brent and the rest of London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with some details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

Can you make fitted home offices for a home in Northwick Park?

Yes, Northwick Park is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Brent and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.

How much does a fitted home office cost?

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. The size of the room, the amount of desk, shelving and storage, and the finish all shape the price. For a quote, send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Can you add power points to the desk?

Sockets and wiring are for your electrician, not us. We design the desk with cable routes and leave room where sockets will go. It’s useful to agree the positions at the measuring visit.

Do I choose the paint colour?

You do. We agree the colour with you, and it’s set out in the quote.

Can a home office double as a guest room?

It depends on the size of the room. A compact office along one wall can leave the rest of the room for a bed. At the design visit, we will suggest what works.
