Fitted wardrobes designed for your room
What affects the price in Cambridge Heath
The price for your room depends on:
- The number of doors and drawers
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- The width and height of the space
- Parking near your home
Awkward rooms take more time: uneven walls, sloping floors and angled ceilings all add scribing and cutting on site. That is reflected in the quote.
What we need to know
The more you can tell us at the start, the better the design visit goes. When you contact us, it helps to send:
- Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Rough sizes, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- How you want to use the space
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit. For a quote, fill in our short enquiry form.
About our fitted wardrobes in Cambridge Heath
You can choose hinged or sliding doors. Hinged doors open a whole section at once. Sliding doors save that space in a narrow room, but only part of the inside is open at any one time. Which suits your room is something we talk through when we visit. Typical reasons to get in touch are standard wardrobes that don’t fill the wall and no space in front for doors to swing; the furniture is made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.
Post-war bedrooms often have a wide window with a radiator underneath, so storage normally goes on the walls beside or opposite. Many homes around Cambridge Heath were built in the post-war decades, so we expect to plan around a radiator. Furniture is kept clear of the radiator so the heat reaches the room.
Our quotes are written in plain words, without jargon. You will see what will be made, the boards used and the finish.

Fitted bedroom furniture in Cambridge Heath
In the neighbourhood around Cambridge Heath, the largest groups of homes date from between 1945 and 1972 (about 32%) and before 1919 (about 23%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Cambridge Heath include Church of St John on Bethnal Green (Grade I), about 0.5 miles south, and Keeling House Bethnal Green (Grade II*), under half a mile south-west. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features such as panelling can need listed building consent. It is worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. Around a third of the homes in the area around Cambridge Heath (about 32%) were built between 1945 and 1972, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Post-war bedrooms are normally simple shapes, which suits fitted furniture along a whole wall, fixed to suit the wall.
Sutton House, about 1 mile north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice. If you live in a flat close to Cambridge Heath station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in. If your children go to Mowlem Primary School or a school nearby, the inside of fitted wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow.

Tips worth knowing
Getting the most from fitted wardrobes starts with the planning and carries on after fitting day. These are worth keeping in mind:
- Plan any socket or switch changes with your electrician before fitting
- Clear the wall where the wardrobes will go before fitting day
- Tell us which walls face outside
- For a flat, measure the stairs, landings and lift
Painted doors feel dry quickly but take longer to cure fully. At first, handle the doors with care and avoid knocking hangers against the inside.
Make sure vents at the top or bottom of the wardrobe are not blocked, particularly where the wardrobe meets an outside wall. Look out for a musty smell or spots on clothes and have the cause looked at early.
Flat-pack or bespoke?
Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. That is something we plan for in the design.
Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there’s often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.

More for homes in Cambridge Heath
From workshop to your room
When we arrive on fitting day, we start by protecting your floors and the route from the front door to the room. The sections made at our workshop come in next, one at a time. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Parking near post-war estates can depend on residents’ bays and estate rules, so it is useful to tell us at the measuring visit. On the day, the sections are carried in, assembled and fixed. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.
- You get in touch and let us know about the bedroom, including any slopes, windows or alcoves.
- We come to measure the room, check the walls and ceiling and agree the layout. We also look at the way in, in case the sections need to go up narrow stairs.
- We send a quote in writing for the wardrobes.
- We make the carcasses, doors and drawers in our workshop.
- We fit them in your home, levelled and scribed to the walls. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.
Before fitting day
- Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
How to get a quote
To make a start, tell us about the room on our contact form and tell us a little about the room. We then arrange a design visit to measure and discuss the design, and a written quote follows.
Advice
What we do not do
We’d rather be clear about where our work stops:
- Removing walls, chimney breasts or any structural work
- Converting a loft (we build storage in lofts that are already converted)
- Curing damp, which needs the right specialist
Not sure whether your space suits fitted wardrobes? You can get in touch through our contact form and we’ll tell you before you arrange a visit. How it works.

Questions from Cambridge Heath
I live near Cambridge Heath station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Tower Hamlets and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Is parking a problem for fitting in Cambridge Heath?
It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Is it possible to have storage over the bed?
Yes. A common layout is tall cupboards either side of the bed and storage above the headboard. It is planned so there is room around the bed and the room doesn’t feel enclosed.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, we can arrange Saturdays. Let us know when you first get in touch, and we’ll see what we can do.
What do you do at the measuring visit?
It’s a chance to measure properly and talk through what you’d like. We look at the walls, floors and anything the furniture has to work around, and the written quote comes afterwards.
Is it possible to build wardrobes into a loft room with a slope?
Yes. Many loft rooms have sloping ceilings and fitted storage suits them well. We measure the slope carefully during the design visit and scribe the wardrobe to it.
