Fitted home offices in Belgravia
Storage keeps a home office calm. We can plan drawers, file storage, a cupboard for the printer and shelving, so the work surface stays clear. Doors keep clutter out of sight at the end of the day. We design the storage around your work, wherever you are in Belgravia. Typical reasons to get in touch are no way to put work away and files and folders piling up; the furniture is made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.
With a large share of homes around Belgravia built before 1919, a small back bedroom or the box room often becomes the office. A built-in desk, shelving and closed storage can fit even a modest room. Cable routes are planned so they run neatly to the sockets, and any new sockets are for your electrician.
The quote names the materials: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job. The finish is stated too, whether that’s spray painting or hand painting.

How it’s made
Doors and drawer fronts
We make the fronts from moisture-resistant MDF and finish them in the colour you choose. Panels can echo the woodwork in an older room. The lines are kept neat and even.
Shelves
Office shelving often carries heavy loads. Span, depth and load all matter. We size each shelf to carry its load without sagging.
Questions from Belgravia
How do you fit fitted home offices in a flat in Belgravia?
At the design visit, we measure the way in as well as the room. Home offices are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.
Is Belgravia in the area you cover for fitted home offices?
Yes, we work across Westminster, Belgravia included, and across the rest of London. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit.
How is the furniture painted?
There are two options: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. The finish is agreed in your quote.
Can I send pictures ahead of the visit?
Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough sizes. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.
Can a home office double as a guest room?
It varies with the size of the room. An office on one wall often leaves room for a bed. We will look at the options at the measuring visit.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by arrangement. Let us know when you first get in touch.
Fitting day, step by step
However carefully a piece is made in the workshop, it still has to meet the room, and that happens on fitting day. Few walls in older London homes are truly flat or square, so each edge that meets a wall is scribed to follow it. How long the fitting itself takes depends on how much desk, shelving and storage you want, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Terraced streets in London are often lined with parked cars, so it helps to tell us during the design visit what’s outside. The van is unloaded quickly, with the sections carried straight in. Saturdays are possible by arrangement.
- You get in touch with a few details about the room. A line on how you work helps too.
- At the design visit, we look at the room, the window and your equipment.
- Your quote sets out the design, the materials and the finish. You can ask us about any part of it.
- We make the desk, shelves and cupboards in our workshop, from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- The office is fitted and set level, ready for your first day at the desk, with the cable routes left open.
Before fitting day
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
How to get a quote
You don’t need exact measurements to get started. Everything is measured properly when we visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To arrange it, message us from the contact page. The written quote follows the visit.

Looking after your furniture
Getting the most from fitted home offices starts with the planning and carries on after fitting day. Here are some things worth bearing in mind:
- Note how many files and books you need to store
- List the equipment you use, from screens to printers
- Decide how much should be open shelving and how much behind doors
- Consider your chair when planning the desk
A hand-painted finish is easy to touch up if it gets marked. Keep a note of the colour for later. If anything is not right with the furniture, drop us a line using the contact form and we will talk it through.
Hot mugs can mark paint, so a coaster is a good habit. Keep liquids away from the edge. A desk mat under the keyboard and mouse saves wear on the surface.
When is bespoke worth it?
Cost matters, and it’s fair to say so: off-the-shelf furniture typically costs less up front. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is awkward, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.
Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. We design shelves with that in mind.
What it costs
Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. This is what makes the difference:
- Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- How big the furniture is
- Parking near your home
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit, so size comes first. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.
What we need to know
To give us a picture of the room, it’s useful to include:
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
- How you want to use the space
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Approximate measurements of the space
We quote once we’ve seen the room. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, then send a written quote. The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. To arrange a visit, message us from the contact page.
Built-in desks and shelving in Belgravia
In the area around Belgravia, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 60%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 14%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. The National Heritage List has 395 entries within half a mile of the centre of Belgravia. Original fireplaces, shutters and panelling are worth keeping where they survive, and the furniture can be designed around them rather than over them. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of inner London. In Belgravia, a van will normally need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, and the council arranges suspensions, often with notice. We ask about parking during the design visit, so the van can be planned for.
Living in a block of flats near London Victoria station? Then the route in is measured as well as the room, and the sections are sized to fit it. Apsley House, about 0.4 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, lath-and-plaster walls need the right fixings for shelves above a desk. If you live in a period home close to St Peter's Church, a small back bedroom can become a home office with a desk under the window.
