Loft Storage in Bow Common
In Bow Common, we design loft storage around the room you actually have. We design your eaves cupboard at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.
- A sloping ceiling with no room for a wardrobe
- A loft room that still feels unfinished
- A loft room that doubles as an office or guest room
Need loft storage in Bow Common?
Before and after fitting day
People planning loft storage often ask about these. They’re worth knowing whatever the room:
- Make room so the whole loft can be measured
- Choose a calm colour for the loft
- Let us know about parking at the measuring visit
- Think about hanging space for a loft bedroom
Wiping the fronts with a soft, damp cloth is normally all they need. Dry them afterwards, and avoid abrasive pads and strong solvents. Handles and drawer edges pick up marks first.
Keep sharp or very heavy items away from the painted fronts. Put tools in a case so they do not knock the paint. A small chip on a hand-painted finish is easy to touch in.
About our loft storage in Bow Common
A loft room can hold a great deal of storage, if the low spaces are used well. Our loft storage includes eaves cupboards, knee-wall drawers, wardrobes under sloping ceilings and dormer shelving, each shaped to the room. In Bow Common, as everywhere we work, it begins with a visit to measure and plan. People typically come to us about a boarded loft that’s hard to keep organised and unused space in a dormer, and the answer is made in our workshop from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
A hall in a home built since 2000 is often compact, with several doors leading off it, which leaves little wall for storage. Around Bow Common, many homes were built since 2000, so that’s worth planning for. A shallow cupboard can take coats, shoes and the vacuum cleaner without blocking a door.
A quote in writing is the clearest record of what we have agreed. It sets out the eaves cupboard designed for your room, what it is made from and how it is finished, and it is what the workshop builds to.

Flat-pack or bespoke?
Off-the-shelf furniture can be a sensible choice. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job.
Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. That’s something we plan for in the design.
From workshop to your room
Every fitting follows the same order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. How long the fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. On the day, floors are covered first and the sections brought in. Each piece is levelled and fixed to suit plasterboard or block. Hand-painted finishes can be completed once the furniture is in.
- You get in touch and let us know about your converted or boarded loft, and how you get up to it.
- We visit to measure the eaves and slopes and go through the design.
- You receive a written quote for the storage we have discussed.
- Your storage is made in our workshop and painted to your chosen colour. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit it in your home, scribed to the slopes and the walls.
Before fitting day
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
- Keep pets in another room while we work
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings

Pricing loft storage in Bow Common
We quote each job after the design visit, because no two rooms are the same. This is what makes the difference:
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- The internal fittings
- Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
How it’s painted is part of the price: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.
Getting in touch
Some details help us understand the job before we visit. It’s useful to include:
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- Any ideas or images you’ve saved
The quote is built from the design visit. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. A quote in writing follows the visit, so you can take your time with it. To arrange the visit, use our contact form.
Common questions about loft storage
Is Bow Common in the area you cover for loft storage?
Yes. We cover all of Tower Hamlets and the rest of London, and Bow Common is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.
I live in a flat in Bow Common. How will the furniture get up the stairs?
At the design visit, we measure the way in not just the room. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. It helps to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.
Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?
An outside wall can be colder and damper than an inside one, so ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps, which helps avoid condensation and mould. Any damp needs sorting by the right specialist before fitting.
Do you move sockets or add lighting?
No. Any new wiring, sockets or lights need an electrician. We’ll design around them.
My walls aren’t straight. Is that a problem?
It’s something we deal with all the time. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base, so it sits tight to the room.
What happens at the design visit?
We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We look at the walls, floors and anything the furniture has to work around, then send a written quote.

For a family home near Stebon Primary School, a place for each person’s coat and shoes stops the hallway filling up. Near listed buildings like Church of St Anne, about 0.5 miles south-west of the centre of Bow Common, older homes may keep original joinery that eaves cupboards can be designed around.
