In London Docklands, we design loft storage around the room you actually have. Your eaves cupboard is designed at a visit to your home and made at our workshop.

Loft storage in London Docklands

About our loft storage in London Docklands

Dormers are a natural place for shelving or a small desk. Dormers have their own shapes, and walls that are seldom square. We scribe the furniture to follow them. It uses space that might otherwise be wasted. We’ll discuss the options in London Docklands. If you are living with a boarded loft that’s hard to keep organised and no wardrobe that fits under the slope, eaves cupboards made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish can solve it.

In a home built since 2000, there are often spaces the builder left plain, like a recess, a landing corner or an empty cupboard. Many homes around London Docklands date from 2000 onwards, so spaces like that are worth a second look. Drawers and shelves can make use of the full depth.

Our quotes are written in plain words. You will see what will be made, the boards used and the finish, all taken from the design visit.

FAQs: loft storage in London Docklands

Do you cover homes near Canary Wharf station?

Yes, homes across Tower Hamlets and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with some details about the room.

Can you make loft storage for a home in London Docklands?

Yes, we work across Tower Hamlets, London Docklands included, and across the rest of London. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit.

Do I get to choose the colour?

The choice is yours, and it is agreed with you before painting. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you’ve chosen.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, by arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you contact us.

Does someone need to be home during the fitting?

We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It is good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.

My walls are not straight. Is that a problem?

Walls and floors that are not true are part of the job in older homes. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base, so there are no gaps at the sides.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. Off-the-shelf furniture cannot usually do that in an older room.

Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that aren’t square. In period homes, walls lean, floors slope and the alcoves on each side are often different widths, and standard units leave gaps.

Loft storage in London Docklands: local notes

About 70% of the homes in the neighbourhood around London Docklands went up since 2000, and about 14% between 1945 and 1972, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. The National Heritage List has 63 entries within half a mile of the centre of London Docklands. Original fireplaces, shutters and panelling are worth keeping where they survive, and eaves cupboards can be designed to work around them. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of inner London. A van working in London Docklands will typically need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension arranged through the council, which often needs notice. It is useful to tell us about parking at the measuring visit.

If you live in a flat close to Canary Wharf station, eaves cupboards are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room. Close to Sir John McDougall Gardens? Living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place.

Before you plan the job, it’s useful to know what we do not do:

  • Adding or replacing insulation
  • Building work to turn a loft into a room
  • Structural changes, such as cutting into rafters or joists

If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can message us from the contact page and we’ll give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. Our process from visit to fitting.

How fitting day works

There is not much for you to do on fitting day. We need someone to let us in at the start, and the room should already be cleared, as agreed during the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Before fixing into a stud wall, we check for pipes and cables, with heavier pieces tied into the studs. Any new sockets or plumbing are for your electrician or plumber.

  1. You get in touch with a few details about the loft room.
  2. We visit to measure and look at what’s behind the knee walls.
  3. Your quote sets out the design, the materials and the finish.
  4. Your storage is made in our workshop, shaped to the loft.
  5. We fit it in your home and leave it ready to use, with the doors and drawers checked with you.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure pets are kept safely away
  • Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are

Ask for a quote

If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we have measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, drop us a line using the contact form.

Materials and finishes

Hand-painted finish

Hand painting can be done on site once the storage is in. It’s easy to touch up if it gets marked. That suits a room in daily use.

Doors and drawer fronts

Any door that gives access behind the knee wall can look like the others. It opens wide, so you can still get into the eaves. Around it, the fronts can be drawers, doors or a mix.

What prompts loft storage in London Docklands

The most common reason is wasted space. The low spaces at the edge of a loft room are hard to use. Built-in storage makes that space useful.

A few of the things people ask us to solve are these:

  • Boxes and suitcases with no home
  • Ready-made wardrobes too big for the stairs
  • A converted loft with no fitted furniture
  • Clothes with nowhere to go in a loft bedroom

Queen's House, about 1.8 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk.

Before you choose who makes it

  • Whether the route into your home has been checked
  • Are the boards named, like MDF or plywood?
  • How the furniture will be finished, and where
  • How they handle walls that aren’t straight
